… Jordan says former president took 500% salary hike between 2006-2011

Let there be light! BUSINESS and Tourism Minister Dominic Gaskin, on Friday evening flipped the switch to set aglow this 50 ft tree, described as the tallest Christmas tree in the Caribbean, at Rahaman’s Park. Some 200 children sang carols and were treated with gifts and goodies from Santa and his wife at the exciting festive Christmas tree light-up ceremony. “This is the highest tree in the Caribbean,” businessman and motor-racer Ray Rahaman proudly declared of his tree, as excitement became obvious in the screams of the scores who had gathered to witness the annual event. The Rahaman family, in collaboration with the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA), started spreading joy in 2005, when they erected a 12-foot Christmas tree and switched the lights on in a simple family ceremony. They never knew it would have grown into such an unstoppable and popularly demanded event. (Delano Williams photo)
