Offering comfort: Education Minister, Priya Manickchand (seated first left) and Member of Parliament, Dr Thandika Smith (right), accompanied by Region Three officials, on Saturday, visited the home of Carol Williams (third right), the grandmother and guardian of Akon Richards, 11, of Cornelia Ida Primary School and offered their condolences. Richards drowned Friday night, in a canal, in the village of De Kinderen, West Coast Demerara. He was awaiting his NGSA results at the time of his death. The government has committed to helping out his family with the funeral expenses in its time of grief (See story on page 12)
