THE Diamond East Bank Demerara based Rebel’s Tennis Club wrapped up their U-18 two-week tour to Trinidad last Tuesday night with the Trinidad & Tobago pair of Zachery Byng and Nathen Martin beating Guyana’s Jayden Mitchell and Gerald Scotland 6/1, 6/2 in the doubles.

The U-18s, coached by Head Coach Andre Erskine and Junior Coach Donnie Anderson, played in back-to-back tournament in Carnival Country. The team were in Trinidad since March 24.
“Scotland qualified for the first time for ITF Main Draw Event, Navindra Arjune was also granted a Wild Card into the main Doubles Event in week one.
Our Club is super excited and very proud of our players’ performances” informed Coach Erskine.
While the U-18s returned home over the weekend, Guyana’s U-14 Tennis players began their tournament on Saturday in Trinidad before they travel to Barbados next week.
On Saturday night, Brian Harricharran (TTO) defeated Jose Rodrigues (GUY) defeated 4/2,4/0 while Nathan Denobrega (GUY) defeated the tournament’s number 1 seed Connor Carrington (TTO) 4/2,4/0 to qualify for the main draw.
Leonardo Winkel (CUW) defeated Jose Rodrigues (GUY) 4/2,4/0 in round robin play and Zahra Shamsi (TTO) defeated Christin Richmond (GUY) 4/0,4/0 in the Round Robin play.
