CARICOM leaders tour local transformational agricultural project at NAREI
President, Dr. Irfaan Ali led the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley and the Prime Minister of St Lucia, Philip J. Pierre on a visit to two transformational agricultural projects at the National Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (NAREI) at Mon Repos on the East Coast of Demerara. The leaders toured the large hydroponic farm and shade houses where high-value crops such as cauliflower, kale, habanero, lettuce, sweet peppers, cucumbers and chillies are being produced. The leaders were apprised of the performance and efficiency of the two projects by the technical officials on the ground.
