GORDIE CHURCH
Professional Hunter
In 1931 a steamship docked in Mombasa on the East African coast. On board were Gordie’s grandparents who eventually settled on the slopes of Mt. Kenya. Thus began three generations of wanderlust and adventure. Gordie was born in 1969 in Nairobi into a childhood of safaris. After obtaining an Honours Degree in Wildlife Management in England he began his three-year apprenticeship with Robin Hurt Safaris under the guidance of the finest hunters in Africa. Fully licensed in Tanzania in 1995 as a professional hunter, Gordie is committed to the highest levels of ethical hunting and fair chase. The hunt focuses on adventure, stalking and the utmost respect for the wildlife and appreciation of nature. When Gordie is not hunting, he outfits and guides the most spectacular horseback and wildlife safaris in Kenya and across subSaharan Africa.

LAKE NATRON SOUTH – TANZANIA
Area 1,750 sq. kms. – 435,000 acres
Altitude 2,500 – 9,000 ft.
Situated within Masailand, this concession lies on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. It is framed by the impressive volcanic mountain of Oldonyo Lengai (The Mountain of God – an active volcano), and the Ngorongoro Highlands. The habitat varies from dusty open plains and arid woodland, to acacia country and finally to the thick montane forests of Kitumbeini. A quintessential hunting destination for the discerning sportsman looking to pursue a wide range of Masailand species, big leopard and challenging mountain buffalo.
Kitumbeini Mountain is one of the few places in Africa where Cape buffalo roam in the ‘mist forests’ of this ancient landscape. Hunting mountain buffalo in thick equatorial forest is the ultimate adventure – a hunt for the out-going and physically fit hunter. Days are spent hiking up and down steep terrain. There are no cars and an entire day is spent in the field. This isolated high-altitude ecosystem is also home to some of the most enormous leopard found on the continent.
Best for: eland, gerenuk, Grant’s gazelle, leopard, lesser & greater kudu, impala, Thomson’s gazelle, bushbuck, wildebeest and zebra.

LUGANZO GAME RESERVE – TANZANIA
Area 6,100 sq. kms. – 1,505,000 acres
Altitude 4,000 – 5,000 ft.
Bordering Ugalla National Park and the Moywosi-Malagarasi swamps, Luganzo is arguably untamed Africa at its best. This hunting concession, the largest private wilderness area in Tanzania, encompasses Lake Sagara and the Ugalla River. It is over 1.5 million acres of diverse landscape and habitat, consisting of a mixture of open savanna floodplains, miombo woodlands and flattopped mountain escarpments. The area provides excellent and challenging hunting for all the western Tanzanian wildlife species, the big cats, as well as the swamp dwelling sitatunga antelope, hippo and crocodile.
Best for: buffalo, sable, roan, sitatunga, leopard, crocodile, hippo, topi, eland, reedbuck, hartebeest, greater kudu and waterbuck.
LUGANZO GAME RESERVE – TANZANIA
SUBJECT TO QUOTA AVAILABILITY
Area 2,800 sq. kms. – 700,000 acres
Altitude 4,000 – 5,000 ft.
This hunting concession is part of the vast Rungwa-Piti-Lukwati ecosystem of western Tanzania. Miombo woodland, floodplains, rocky outcrops, mountain ranges and numerous rivers and streams makes this wild corner of Africa one of my favourite hunting areas. With so much permanent water, it is ideal buffalo country, both the large breeding herds and solitary old bulls. This also leads to a very healthy lion population. Furthermore this well conserved landscape is home to exceptionally large sable antelope, greater kudu, roan and a myriad of other western Tanzanian wildlife species.
LUKWATI NORTH & PITI WEST GAME RESERVE – TANZANIA
Best for: buffalo, greater kudu, eland, roan, leopard, hippo, crocodile, hartebeest, sable, warthog and zebra.
