Better Together strengthens families by helping parents address the root cause of their struggles and build a lasting support system. Volunteer host families give children a safe place to live while mentors and professional staff help parents regain stability through the nonprofit’s mentoring programs. Ninety-eight percent of children served stay out of the state system. The key? Community.

“Everybody should have someone to call in a crisis,” says Better Together CEO Megan Rose. Megan built the organization after working more than 10 years in the Florida child welfare system and becoming frustrated by its limitations. Her entrepreneurial and relational approach has attracted attention in Florida and across the nation. The Manhattan Institute named Megan among its Civil Society Fellows, and she received its Civil Society Award in 2019. Better Together has also been named The Community Foundation’s 2020 Nonprofit Rising Organization of the Year and SWFL Inc.’s 2022 Nonprofit of the Year.

Chef Vincenzo Betulia and the Campagna Hospitality Group have brought yet another jovial, classic throwback concept to the Naples dining scene: Rouge Clandestine Steak. The concept for Rouge was born during the 2020 pandemic closures when Vincenzo noticed a trend in the take-out orders: People ran to comfort foods to ease the stress. Next to hundreds of pounds of pasta and amid the intoxicating aromas of woodgrilled meats, a lightbulb turned on!

Nestled in the back of the French, the semi-private dining room was transformed into a lush 1960s-inspired dining room with red velvet drapery, hanging florals, classic French tile flooring, ruby red banquettes and a record player spinning tunes by Frank Sinatra and Johnny Coltrane. The 18-seat hidden gem is an homage to a New York or Chicago steakhouse, with a menu offering classic prime cuts with various marbling grades. The wine list features all the first growths from France, Italian “blue chip” producers and famed California wineries. The “by the glass” list is poured through a Coravin needle pouring system, which allows discerning diners to enjoy luxurious pours by desired ounce. Rouge is the quintessential big-city steakhouse with a back alley entrance, no online presence, no reservation platform and no membership fees.

Physicians Regional Healthcare System improves heart care and quality of life for patients by investing in physicians, facilities and technology. Part of that advancement includes cultivating a structural heart team that offers a minimally invasive procedure for valve replacement, eliminating the need for open-heart surgery for many.

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) allows patients who may have been at high risk for open-heart surgery to be treated for aortic stenosis, or narrowing of the aortic valve. Narrowing of the valve limits blood flow and requires the heart to work harder. The TAVR procedure involves guiding a man-made, collapsible valve via a catheter through the existing aortic valve. Once in place, the new valve is expanded, effectively restoring blood flow.

More than 300 patients have undergone TAVR procedures at Physicians Regional in just under three years, with more than 90% going home the same day. The average recovery period is two weeks versus eight weeks for open-heart surgery. Alexis Martinez Puleio’s artwork immerses viewers in a visual voyage over coastal shorelines. Inspired by pristine beaches and the boundless depth of the ocean, she pushes the boundaries of creativity in her ocean resin art, which mimics aerial views of coastlines with hand-sculpted landscapes and glass-like resin water. In addition to her custom-made landscapes, Alexis combines epoxy resin with acrylic pigments to capture nature’s beauty.
