Welcome to the 2021-22 season of the Gulf Coast Symphony!

Welcome to the Gulf Coast Symphony’s 2021-2022 Season.......you are in for a real treat this year, as “We Play the Music you Love to Hear!” Maestro Andrew Kurtz has programmed a phenomenal line up this season that is diverse, fresh, creative, and sure to please. We have a wide variety of selections planned that range from our traditional classical concerts, ballets, and opera, to jazz, pop, contemporary vocalists, and Tony award winning musicals. In addition to our performance line up this season, we are also busy planning our annual Gala celebration featuring “The Diamonds” at the Sanibel Harbour Marriott resort, and Taste of the Cape to be held at the Tarpon Point Marina.

The opening of our new Music & Arts Community Center, or the MACC as we call it, is a game-changer for the Gulf Coast Symphony. We finally have a location that allows us to regularly produce and present concerts and shows year-round. The MACC is home to the new Gulf Coast Chamber Orchestra and the Gulf Coast Jazz Collective. Combined with our Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall schedule, our organization can now offer over a hundred performances this year. Shows include orchestra concerts, symphonic pops, musical theater, jazz, ballet, opera, chamber music, film and more! Our ever evolving schedule will continue to create diverse and varied offerings to bring our community together!

Highlights include a dozen concerts by the Gulf Coast Chamber Orchestra, six amazing evening of Jazz performed by the Gulf Coast Jazz Collective and guests, a new series of intimate cabarets, called Stars at the MACC, featuring Broadway’s most elite performers for an evening of conversation and song, and fully staged musicals. We will perform multiple times with the Gulfshore ballet and with the Fort Myers Mastersingers. Our Sunday Night Chamber Music series offers seasoned professionals and emerging young stars in the classical world. There is truly something for everyone.

And the only thing missing is you! The Gulf Coast Symphony has opened the MACC for you and our community, so we have a place to come to hear great music and inspiring concerts year-round! If you haven’t experienced this new intimate 300 seat venue, we hope you will join us for one of our many concerts this year!

Welcome to the MACC Room to Grow.

“A physical space of our own has been a goal since the Symphony was founded—we will now be able to provide so many more opportunities for our community to experience music and the arts in one central location.”

- Andrew Kurtz, Founder, President & CEO, Music Director The Gulf Coast Symphony’s new Music & Arts Community Center –or the MACC–opened in January 2021. Located on the 12.5 acre campus of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fort Myers, just off Daniels Parkway, 1.5 miles from I-75 Exit 131, renovations at the MACC have transformed the campus into a high-class performing and educational space. Advanced theatrical lighting, robotic cameras, a video recording suite, and modern audio equipment have been installed to create a 300-seat theatrical venue. The MACC has allowed us to expand our mission to Create Community Through Music!

The MACC aims be the center of musical activity in Lee County, the only full-time orchestral space in the county. When at capacity we expect to see children, families, residents and snow-birds participating in the widest variety of cultural opportunities in Southwest Florida.

The MACC is home to the Gulf Coast Symphony’s new professional chamber orchestra and the Gulf Coast Jazz Collective, whose members both perform in concerts as well as serve as teachers for our education programs and participate in our engagement activities.

Programming includes orchestra, pops, musicals, operas, recitals, chamber music, film, jazz, indie rock, and more.

MusicWorks!, our El-Sistema inspired after-school string program provides music instruction for any child who desires. A chamber music youth orchestra program and jazz programs are being developed for middle and high school students. Summer camps will be held when school is out. A New Horizons Band will allow adults with no musical experience at all, or those who have been inactive for a long period, to be a part of an ensemble program. A series of music and arts classes will be offered for life-long learners.

Ultimately, the MACC serves as a creative hub where people of all ages and abilities can share music and arts as common ground, and where diversity, expression and self-transformation is the very air we breathe. This undertaking allows for a major growth of the Gulf Coast Symphony’s programming and educational outreach, and our ability to transform lives throughout Southwest Florida by providing equitable access to excellent music education and arts experiences.

Our vision is to build a civic culture that values lifelong involvement in the arts, where all can participate actively in music making and arts experiences. We also want every youngster in Southwest Florida to have access to music instruction.

February 16 – March 4, 2022 I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is a comedy with book and lyrics by Joe DePietro and music by Jimmy Roberts.

It is the second-longest running Off Broadway musical. The musical was nominated for the Outer Critics Circle Award as Outstanding Off-Broadway musical in 1997. I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is a witty musical that tackles modern love in all its forms: from the perils and pitfalls of the first date to marriage, children, and the twilight years of life. An insightful and hilarious musical, this show will have audiences shouting, “This is my life!”

This community event is held in Cape Coral and celebrates both the culinary arts and live music.
