At just under an hour's journey from the crowded city of Naples lies a mythical paradise, the island of Capri, an exclusive destination that offers breath-taking cliffs, crystalline waters, picturesque villages, romantic restaurants, spice-scented landscapes and wonderful ocean views.

Here you can sit next to the sphinx in San Michele's fairytale garden or take the chair lift from Anacapri up to the top of Monte Solaro, where you can admire the impressive island views. Capri’s main beaches are Marina Grande and Marina Piccola, but the island is also full of rock pools, so it’s definitely worth the effort to look for them, if you’re after a less crowded spot.

There are also numerous boat trips that offer both cave visits and plenty of opportunities for an invigorating swim. After all, the crystal-clear, cooling Mediterranean Sea is a joy to plunge into after a long day of discovery.

Capri also offers an excellent range of excursions, like the ruins of the former-Roman palace, Villa Jovis, or take a fascinating boat ride to the Blue Grotto, which can only be reached by rowing boat at low tide.

Time Out

There are some amazing beach clubs in Capri and they’re a great way to soak up the sun – and the sights – while rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous. Designed as exclusive and luxurious locations, the beach clubs set the tone for living La dolce vita, becoming important landmarks in Capri’s history. In fact, it was during the glamourous decades of the island, between the 1950s and ‘60s, that the international jet set discovered Capri, attracting the likes of and Brigitte Bardot, Sophia Loren and numerous other stars, who flocked to the island’s most exclusive beach clubs. Even today, guests can enjoy that special mix of leisure and glamour at famous beach clubs like La Fontelina, La canzone del mare and Da Luigi ai faraglioni. However, these places are really popular, so make sure you book in advance.

All Night Long

On the most fashionable street of the island, nestled between prestigious boutiques and luxury hotels, you will find a small white door that is almost hidden from view. It’s the entrance to Capri’s most popular nightclub, Taverna Anema e Core (in English Heart and Soul Tavern), which has been the symbol of ‘Made in Capri’ fun for over 20 years. The venue is the definition of Capri nightlife, where you can dance and sing to the small hours and meet celebrities from the Italian and international jet set: pop stars, politicians, athletes and models. The live show, inspired by the best of classic Neapolitan songs, is a true explosion of music, fun and positive energy.

Pop into a store, get your feet measured and choose your favourite style, mix and match colors and gem stones, and even the choice of heels. It was the Roman Emperor Tiberius who brought this type of sandal to Capri. He was wearing a pair when he first arrived on the island and the locals were so impressed they decided to start crafting similar footwear.
