Wehavere-launchedtheHPVVaccination&School-Based ImmunizationProgramincollaborationwithGuamDepartment ofEducation,SchoolHealthCounselors,DepartmentofPublic Health&SocialServicesImmunizationProgram,ToduGuam Foundation,BureauofWomen'sAffairsandtheOfficeofthe Governor.Thisprogramhasbeenimplementedtobridgethe gapsthatparentsmayfaceforroutineimmunizationswithan emphasisonHPVVaccines.Medicalsuppliesweregivento theSchoolHealthCounselorstohelpwiththeseeffortsandto beutilizedwithintheschools.

Servicesprovidedtopatients,newlyandpreviouslydiagnosed,inidentifyingamedical/radiationoncologist, eliminatingbarrierstocare,i.e.insurance,financial,transportation,physicalneeds,communication,culturalneeds, ortreatmentcomplianceissues.Ournavigatorsalsoassistinidentifyinglocalornationalresourcesthatcancer patientsonGuamareeligibleforintheformoffinancialassistance,pharmaceuticalassistanceprogramsandlodging assistanceforpatientstravelingoff-islandfortreatmentservicesnotavailableonGuam.GuamCancerCare navigatorswillpersonallyassistthesepatientsfromstarttofinish.
FinancialAssistanceProgram
Aspartofournavigationprogram,navigatorsaretrainedtoassessregisteredcancerpatientsneedforfinancial assistance.WiththegrantreceivedfromtheGuamCancerTrustFund,navigatorsareabletoawardminimalfunding topatientsonaquarterlybasistoassistinco-payments,co-insuranceoroutofpocketexpensesincurredduring cancertreatments.Giventhattheprimarytenetofourorganizationistoservecancerpatientsbyfindingand providingfinancialassistanceatatimewhentheyhavedepletedtheirresources.Helpingpatientsaccessdirect treatmentwillgoalongwayinhelpingextendtheirpreciouslives.
PatientTransportProgram
GuamCancerCareintroduceditsPatientTransportProgramtoeliminatetransportationissuestoandfromcancer treatmentstogiveourpatientsafightingchanceinbeatingthediseasewithoutworryofhowtheywillgettotheir appointments.
CancerScreeningandPreventionProgram
ByimplementingtheCancerScreeningProgram,GuamCancerCaretakesastandagainstcancerandencouragesa proactiveapproachtohealththroughscreening.GuamCancerCareworksincollaborationwiththeGuam ComprehensiveCancerControlCoalition(GCCCC),PublicHealth,CancerClinics,Non-CommunicableDisease (NCD)Consortium,andprimarycareclinicsandphysicianstoconductanall-year-roundcandorscreeningprogram forGuamresidents.
PublicOutreachandEducation
TheKidsfortheCure(K4C)programisacancereducationandoutreacheffortfor3rd through5th-gradeelementary schoolstudents.Themissionoftheprogramistopromotehealthycommunitiesandinstillpositivelifestylechoices toparticipantsthatcanhelpreducetheirriskofcancerandotherlife-threateningdiseases.Itiscomprisedofbothan in-classcurriculumcreatedbytheSt.JudeChildren’sResearchHospital’s“Cure4Kids”andaphysicalactivity segment.Thousandsoflocalstudentshaveparticipatedinthisprogram,withamissiontoexpandintomiddleand highschools.
