A cricket tournament took place at Stoke St Mary Cricket Club in memory of Charles, a lifelong Somerset cricket supporter and long-time resident of the village.

In tribute to him the ground has been renamed the Charles F. B. Clark Cricket Ground. His widow, Rebecca Pow and their children, Verity, Tory and James, plus former Somerset Captain and current England batting coach Marcus Trescothick conducted the opening ceremony.

Verity said: "It was a tremendous day and we were overwhelmed with the turnout and support, I don't think Dad would have believed it!"

Some of the current stars of the Somerset team Tom Banton, Ollie Sales, Lewis Gregory and Roelof van de Merwe, along with colleagues from GTH took part in a series of T10 matches to celebrate Charles's life, love of cricket and the village he lived in.

Somerset cricket commentator Anthony Gibson provided ball by ball commentary, while the Prime Minister's father, Stanley Johnson, was also in attendance.

The event raised funds for the village and the Somerset Cricket Foundation, which is working to raise involvement in cricket at grassroots level.

Charles died of cancer in June 2019 aged 59. As an auctioneer he raised £2M for charities and good causes during his long and distinguished career.

In recognition of his efforts colleagues at GTH organised the Big Farming Charity Auction, raising £73,000 for charities that Charles was passionate about and that helped him following his diagnosis.
