NOTES FROM NATE

COUNTY ADMINITRATOR

Good morning,

When you return to work on Monday, myGTC (Workday) will be up and running. GT County has been operating on the same ERP (AS 400) for more than 35 years and the AS 400 has served us well With the advances in ERP’s we knew that the time was coming to change to a new, more relevant, and more accommodating ERP On September 1, 2021, the Board of Commissioners approved an agreement with Workday to be that ERP Since then, a relatively small number of employees have been working diligently with Workday to bring the county to a go live date of October 31, 2022 We didn’t pick Halloween intentionally, the date was driven by a set of circumstances that led us to the 31st

While we will certainly recognize significant benefit from myGTC going forward, we have had significant challenges to this point migrating to myGTC from the AS 400 and, I would like to emphasize that there will be challenges going forward The implementation team and Workday will be available next week in the various buildings to assist as problems and questions arise I ask that you be patient with the transition and work through the problems you encounter with staff that have experience with myGTC

Training has been offered to you as employees and to your managers As this ERP is designed to be driven from the employee up, we ask that if you encounter a problem, please work with your manager first to try to find a remedy If you are unable to correct the issue, the implementation team and Workday staff will be able to assist you. If the issue goes beyond what can be managed immediately, please go to https://mygtcsupport.gtcountymi.gov, log in, and complete a support ticket. This system allows us to track issues and address them based on priority

Very important! We will be pushing a myGTC shortcut out to each of your desktops over the weekend Please leave your computer on for the weekend! If you don't have the shortcut Monday morning we can help you with that Please submit a ticket by going to https://mygtcsupport gtcountymi gov

When you access your computer Monday morning, you will log in to myGTC with a single sign on This username and password are the same as you would use to start up your computer or unlock your screen. You should take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the home page, using the “View All Apps” tab to see what is available to you Here are a couple additional recommendations for your first interaction with myGTC after you sign in:

Go to your profile located in the upper right hand corner of the page

Update your profile picture

Verify your personal information by clicking on the “view profile” button

If there are changes that need to be made to your personal information, please make the changes

Verify your contact information

Verify your employment information by clicking through the tabs on the left Again, if you are experiencing challenges, we will be available to help you A final reminder, the HR and Finance modules of the AS 400 will not be available going forward from the 31st If you need to access those modules of the AS 400, we will have to assist you with that request

As you begin to work with myGTC, please remember that we just took a giant leap to one of the best ERP’s available There will be challenges, many of which will be change related A year from now we will be in a much better place in our ability to prepare, plan, and report I ask that you give nyGTC a fair opportunity to take us to a better place.

Again, we will be pushing a myGTC shortcut out to each of your desktops over the weekend Please leave your computer on for the weekend!

Thank you and enjoy what is looking to be a great weekend!

Nate

myGTC HR Tips

With the roll out of myGTC, the HR team will utilize the County Communicator the next few months to highlight some tips, training resources, and common questions we ’ re receiving regarding the new system Feel free to reach out to HR if there is anything additional you would like to see or find helpful.

Work Schedules: These are general schedules that were created to capture specifics of each contracts overtime This means that the general work schedule showing for you, or your employees does not have to be an exact reflection of what they are typically scheduled What you should look for whether you're entering time for yourself or approving time for your team is that the daily or weekly overtime is accurate For those part time employees, FTE status will dictate what automatically populates in your absence requests With the exception of Holidays, all other absences can be manually adjusted to reflect the correct daily amount needed.

Internal Applications: Any current GTC employee who would like to apply for another role within the County needs to do so through myGTC All current positions can be found by typing ‘Find Jobs’ into the search bar at the top of your homepage within myGTC. This will be a complete listing of both internal and external postings throughout the County. You can also access through the link found here https://www myworkday com/mygtcmi/d/task/3005$4482 htmld

All external (never worked for GTC before) applicants need to be routed through the Careers site which can be found through the employment section of our County website Direct link to the external careers' website can be found here https://mygtcmi.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/GTC

Personal Hour Banks: Personal time will need to be used on or before Sunday, November 20, 2022 Unused personal time will be paid out on December 9, 2022, up to the maximum amount allowed per your labor contract or County policy, whichever applies

The Help Tip: When in myGTC, you can click on your profile icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen This will give you an additional menu of items to select When you click on the ‘Help’ option it will direct you to the myGTC support page Using your single sign on information (email / password) you can enter help tickets and find training aids by clicking on the knowledge base We’ll continue to add training resources to this location, and this is a great location to check back in on from time to time

TAKE THE AFFINITY GROUPS SURVEY!

Have you ever heard of an affinity group? Affinity Group by definition means a group of people linked by a common interest or purpose.

The affinity groups will be self organizing and Grand Traverse County will have no affiliation with the groups. Grand Traverse County is merely a means to connect people. An initial email group will be created for the groups to introduce members

Affinity groups are open to all employees and employees are encouraged to link up with people with the same interest or interested in learning a new activity.

Emails will be coming soon, so watch for opportunities to join these groups for some fun and recreation with likeminded coworkers!

RECIPE OF THE WEEK

CHICKENPANINIWITHPESTOAND

PEPPERSRECIPE

8 slices whole grain sourdough bread 4 Tbsp homemade or prepared pesto 4 oz fresh mozzarella, thinly sliced (Fresh mozzarella is both tastier and lower in calories than regular mozz, but it's also more expensive Any shredded part skim mozzarella will work as a solid substitution, but if you can, support a local farmers market and pick up some fresh ) ⁄ lb cooked chicken ⁄ cup roasted red peppers Olive oil

Directions 1 2. 3 4

Heat a large cast iron skillet or stovetop grill pan over medium heat Spread 4 pieces of the bread with 1 tablespoon of the pesto each. Layer each piece with equal amounts of the mozzarella slices, chicken, and red peppers Add a light film of olive oil to the pan; when hot, cook the sandwiches (2 at a time, if necessary) until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted, 3 to 4 minutes each side. (For the best results, use a heavy pan to weigh down the sandwiches ) Nutrition Facts 450 calories, 15 g fat (8 g saturated), 820 mg sodium
