Fraud Awareness

Fraud is a considerable problem and has a huge impact on our society. Fraud typically has the biggest effects on the elderly, sick, vulnerable, and disadvantaged.

Being the victim of fraud can cause anxiety, financial hardship, and emotional trauma

Fraud raises cost for businesses to operate due to requirements for businesses to raise security and cover losses which is passed on through higher prices for consumer goods.

WELLNESS

THINK, LIVE, BE... WELL!

TAKE THE AFFINITY GROUPS SURVEY!

Have you ever heard of an affinity group? Affinity Group by definition means a group of people linked by a common interest or purpose.

The affinity groups will be self organizing and Grand Traverse County will have no affiliation with the groups. Grand Traverse County is merely a means to connect people. An initial email group will be created for the groups to introduce members

Affinity groups are open to all employees and employees are encouraged to link up with people with the same interest or interested in learning a new activity.

Emails will be coming soon, so watch for opportunities to join these groups for some fun and recreation with likeminded coworkers!

ACME CONNECTOR TRAIL IS NOW OPEN!

TRAVERSE CITY, MI TART Trails is thrilled to announce the Acme Connector is OFFICIALLY OPEN! Many thanks to the Acme trail team, generous donors, government partners, and local residents who pitched in to make this critical connection a reality. While the Connector is officially open, it is still not complete. Please bear with us as the finishing touches are still in progress This includes a closed section that will eventually pass through the KOTI development. This small, yet central section, will be closed and barricaded while project partners work to establish a safe connection through the property. Investing in trails is investing in people.

As the first official segment of the Nakwema Trailway, this project is a catalyst in providing critical connections to support happy, healthy, resilient individuals and communities.

The 2 mile Acme Connector links the TART Trail and Acme, providing safe access to businesses, existing trails, and recreation opportunities. The trail connects the current TART terminus at Bunker Hill Road to the intersection of M-72 and US-31 in Acme A section of the trail runs east toward the Acme Meijer store and Grand Traverse Town Center.

The press and public are invited to join TART Trails, Top of Michigan Trails Council, and community partners for our Acme Connector Ribbon Cutting Celebration! This event will take place on Tuesday, October 25 at 4:30 pm at the Grand Traverse Town Center, 4900 M 72.

RECIPE OF THE WEEK

LASAGNASOUP

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 lb. ground beef

1 medium onion, diced

1 tablespoon garlic, minced

2 (13.5 oz.) cans tomato sauce (3.5 cups)

2 (14.5 oz.) cans chicken broth (about 3.5 cups)

1/4 cup parsley, chopped

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning or dried oregano

1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)

1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper (or to taste)

8 lasagna noodles, broken into 4 5 small pieces each

FOR THE CHEESE TOPPING:

1 cup ricotta cheese

1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded

1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated

Heat oil in a large pot or 4 qt Dutch oven over medium high heat until the hot oil sizzles, about 1 minute. Add ground beef and cook for 5 7 minutes until browned. Make sure to break up beef into small pieces to help even browning.

Add onion and garlic Stir well to combine and continue cooking for 3 4 minutes until tender Add tomato sauce and chicken broth. Mix well and bring the meat sauce to a simmer. Stir in parsley and season with Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Cover the lid and let it simmer over low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally

Add broken lasagna noodles and cook until al dente (fully cooked but still firm) according to package directions, about 10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent noodles from sticking to the bottom of the pot.

Combine ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan in a medium mixing bowl and stir well to combine Serve immediately with a dollop of the cheese mixture on top.
