The Computer Information Systems (CIS) Department in the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University pushes the boundaries of traditional classrooms and conventional ways of delivering content – providing experiential learning with a realworld context.

The department offers recognized graduate programs designed to seize today’s opportunities – taking a fresh approach to business school by reimagining ways to help students and businesses solve problems that impact individuals, organizations and society.

CIS Graduate Degrees Master of Science in Information Systems Once students earn their Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) degree, they become the thread that holds business and technology together.

Robinson’s CIS students have obtained many internationally recognized certifications including CISSP, CISA, CISM, CEH, CCSP, SAP® TERP10, SAS, R, Hadoop, Spark, TOGAF, PMP, Salesforce, AWS, Azure and Fintech. Additionally, students often receive at least one job offer by graduation.

The MSIS program is STEM certified, allowing international students to do 36 months of optional practical training after graduation.

Choose your path Big Data Management and Analytics. This concentration is offered as a cohort program intended to prepare students for executive careers in the management and use of both structured and unstructured data.

Students learn key concepts, technologies (e.g., cognitive computing, machine learning, visualization, big data management infrastructure, Hadoop, Spark, SAS, IBM Watson, analytical programming using Python and R) and methodologies to successfully manage structured and unstructured big data for analytics. The program includes experiential learning that is tightly integrated with the management of big data and analytics applications. Students experience real-world scenarios and team dynamics engaging in big data management and analytics projects, and professional community (TAG, Data Science ATL).

Education and skills are transferable to a variety of platforms for managing big data analytics.

Cybersecurity. This concentration is offered as a cohort program and provides students with the knowledge needed for careers in the areas of security, privacy and assurance of information and information systems.

• Students learn key concepts, technologies and methodologies to successfully address cybersecurity risks by deploying and managing information security tools. Students experience real-world scenarios and team dynamics using state-of-the art hacking and forensics tools in a secure environment, and engaging in cybersecurity projects, and professional community (TAG, ISSA).

Enterprise Systems. This concentration is usually offered as a cohort program intended to provide students with the knowledge needed to help conceive and execute digital innovation and transformation initiatives using enterprise systems that support key business processes.

Students learn foundational concepts in business process integration, configuration, and applied analytics using a variety of technologies (e.g., SAP® ERP, SAP® S/4 HANA, SAP® Analytics Cloud, and Salesforce). Although specific technologies are included in the program, the concepts, principles, and techniques are easily adaptable to other similar environments.

Building on this foundation, students gain insights into process innovation and digital transformation using emerging technologies such as blockchain, machine learning, and cloud platforms and services.

Experiential learning is a core element of the program. Students gain hands-on experience with a variety of technologies in class and via special boot camps lead by renowned experts. Experiential learning culminates in the capstone digital innovation experience course where students apply their learning to solve real-world problems.

Master of Science in Information Systems Audit and Control Students completing our Master of Science in Information Systems Audit and Control (MSISAC) program have the experience needed for a field that’s competing for graduates.
