Robinson prepares CIS students to use technology to help companies achieve their business goals and to enact new digital business strategies. Students specialize in one of four career tracks: Application Development

Process Innovation

The application development track focuses on objectoriented programming languages and gives students hands-on skills for developing computer applications on different platforms including mobile devices and the cloud.

Students will learn to recognize threats and vulnerabilities within information systems.

They also learn how to securely manage the use of information assets. Students will be able to support the goals and objectives of their organizations through effective information security governance, risk management and regulatory compliance.

Students will gain technical skills and knowledge about storing, manipulating, managing and making sense of large amounts of data, be it structured and/or unstructured data. During the course of the program, students will have hands-on exposure to real-life data generated in business environments.

Students will learn how to design and improve business processes using methodologies, such as key Lean Six Sigma principles.

They will design IT systems to manage business processes and implement working digital business process management solutions.

Students can start careers in application/software development. Positions associated with this track are application programmer, software engineer, mobile app designer, and software developer, which is ranked the #1 best job in America by U.S. News & World Report.

Students are likely to find jobs in network security, vulnerability assessment, data loss prevention, security information and event management, and security consulting.

This track is designed to prepare students for various types of analytics job positions, such as data analyst, marketing analyst, etc.

These skills are useful for students who want a career in consulting, business restructuring, or using digital technology to transform companies’ operations and strategies. Students have been hired as business analysts and consultants.
