WELCOME TO THE GSTAAD PALACE When Anna Siroka took a break from her very successful career in one of Switzerland’s leading luxury hotels, she knew she would only come back to something truly special. This makes it an extraordinary honour for us to welcome her as our new Executive Assistant Manager Sales & Marketing.

Anna, what was your journey to becoming Executive Assistant Manager Sales & Marketing at the Gstaad Palace? Even as a child, I was fascinated by beautiful hotels. I always wanted to spend time in the lobbies of luxury hotels, for some reason, that is where I felt most at home. So, a career in the hotel industry came naturally to me. I had the privilege of being part of the opening team at Park Hyatt Zurich, later continued my education in communications, marketing, and PR, and then spent nine years at the Dolder Grand in Zurich. I knew I would only return for something truly special and iconic. And that is how I arrived at the Gstaad Palace. What attracted you to our hotel? I have been visiting Gstaad for many years and love the region, the nature, the openness, and the atmosphere. The Palace is an icon of hospitality – as a guest, I was always captivated by the unique spirit of this family run house. But the decisive factor for my “yes!” to the Palace was Andrea Scherz: he leads the hotel in the third generation with heart, passion, and a genuine interest in people. His way of being present and connected with the team, combined with his generosity in thought and action, left a deep impression on me. What are your main goals as Director of Sales & Marketing? My goal is to make its unique atmosphere and spirit even more visible. To tell the story of the Palace values,

traditions, and history in such a way that people connect with the hotel across generations. At the same time, being close to the team is very important to me: to support, encourage, and empower them, so that everyone can unfold their strengths. Where do you see your main contribution to the Palace? My contribution lies in making the unique atmosphere of the Palace tangible and creating experiences that guests can find only here. We want to create moments that become memories – the feeling of arriving, of being at home, and at the same time of being part of something extraordinary. When people connect emotionally with the hotel, sustainable growth follows – not only in numbers but also in the radiance and soul of the brand. What are the biggest trends or opportunities you see in our industry right now? Guests today are looking for authenticity and genuine encounters. Luxury today is all about individuality, sustainability, and well-being; about depth, meaning, and uniqueness. At the same time, guests travel more consciously, stay longer, and increasingly seek second home experiences. For hotels like the Palace, these trends are a

Cooperative and coaching – I involve the team in decisions, encourage ownership and innovation, and empower everyone to grow through responsibility. What inspires you outside of work? I am inspired by learning new things, staying open, and remaining curious. I value exchanges with people and different perspectives. Personally, I aim to regularly shift perspectives – even in challenging situations. It helps me to see the positives and to draw something valuable from every experience. Sports and meditation give me additional energy, clarity, and balance. I also draw a lot of inspiration from culture, music, and art – they open up new worlds and spark my creativity. Do you have a favourite place or location at the Palace? The Piscine. In summer, I often swim my laps there or enjoy the sun with an after-work snack. I especially love the atmosphere – the mix of locals, hotel guests, chalet residents, and employees. It is great to meet everyone in a non-work setting; it allows for deeper connection and lends the place a very unique quality.

GSTAAD PALACE GOES PINK

In the late summer of 1975, the tranquil elegance of Gstaad was about to play host to a touch of Hollywood mischief. The “Return of the Pink Panther” starring the inimitable Peter Sellers was set to premiere in Europe and not in Paris or London, but right here at the Gstaad Palace, where much of the film had been shot. It was Peter Sellers himself who brought the Palace and its legendary GreenGo nightclub into the heart of a major motion picture. By then, Sellers was one of the most recognisable faces in

As midnight fell, wool blankets were handed out to ward off the alpine chill, and Julie Andrews began to sing Moon River. But the night was not without its own Clouseau-style twist: when Liz Taylor, seated in the front row, loudly complained the music was too loud, Henry Mancini in a moment entirely unscored turned to her and, quite unmusically, told her to “Shut up!” In true Pink Panther fashion, the evening ended not with a scandal, but with a laugh the kind of story that still drapes the Palace in a little Hollywood sparkle half a century later.

AH: We have clear rules, but also freedom. For special projects like Christmas trees, managers’ approval is needed. Do you test designs before the season? MJ: We create mood boards and prototypes to check cost and technique. AH: I sometimes prepare a mock-up for my manager, Michaela. So far, it has always been a yes.

Looking at the Palace today, what changes stand out to you the most? The world changes, and so does the Palace – and I think for the better. The renovations in the different departments have been very successful, and the staff are impressively efficient and highly motivated. Bravo!
