While attending church, Daisy Lirra of Troop 142068 sparked up a conversation with a nice lady who noticed her Girl Scouts bag. They talked about Lirra’s favorite hobbies, school subjects, and goals. Shortly after, a church usher informed Lirra and her mom, who is a troop leader, that Lirra was speaking to Dr. Gloria Scott the first Black woman to serve as national president of Girl Scouts of the USA. She was gracious enough to take a photo with Lirra and imparted some encouraging words to her as a young leader.

A new Girl Scout year is beginning, bringing excitement and possibility. This season offers girls a fresh start and an opportunity to explore new interests, build confidence, and discover who they are within.

In preparation for the new year, our staff and volunteers have been planning meaningful experiences for every Girl Scout.

Mel Underhill Whether girls are camping, President of the Council crafting, exploring robotics, and Chair of the Board learning to sail, or leading service projects, each activity is designed to spark curiosity, strengthen confidence, and build connections.

A “furry” new addition is already bringing extra joy to the Girl Scout experience.

Misty Meadows Ranch is now home to Shaggy Low, a mini Highland cow named by Troop 22002 and Betsy Kamin, immediate past chair of the GSSJC Board. With his fluffy coat and curious personality, Shaggy Low recognizes Betsy’s outstanding leadership during her term as board chair – and he is quickly charming camp visitors of all ages.

In July, I had the pleasure of attending the 58th National Council Session in Washington, D.C., alongside our other girl and adult delegates. It was an inspiring experience to gather with members from across the country and overseas where girls have a direct voice in shaping the future of Girl Scouts.

Our membership renewal campaign is underway, and I encourage families to renew before the Sept. 30 deadline ahead of the Oct. 1 start of the new year. Each member strengthens our community and helps expand our mission.

This fall, girls will participate in the Fall Product Program, building entrepreneurial and life skills along the way. The program is a great way to start the year with funding for future activities and adventures! Girls use the proceeds from the sale for troop activities, camp, and trips.

Girl Scouting is not possible without our dedicated volunteers.

Thank you for mentoring and guiding our girls. We appreciate all that you do and will support you every step of the way.

I look forward to a year of growth, discovery, and memories that last a lifetime.

What Do Girl Scouts Do?

People know about camping, badges, and cookies — but what happens the rest of the year? The truth is: a lot. Girls shared collages of their year, giving a glimpse into how they build skills, and discover strengths through every activity and adventure. Let their experiences inspire your troop.

Allie M., Troop 115002: My Girl Scout journey is full of friendship, service, and fun learning. I’ve tried new things like horseback riding and canoeing, learned science from a heart doctor, and helped my community by planting trees. I’ve proudly marched in several parades with my troop, showing our strong sisterhood.

Emily, Troop 139135: She is learning so much through Girl Scouts. Emily is part of the Green Starlettes and learns leadership, teamwork, confidence, and dedication. Different experiences, but the same strong foundation.

What are you most excited to try this year?

Troop 138114: Being a Girl Scout is more than selling cookies — it’s about sisterhood, service, and lifelong friendships. Girls celebrated every adventure, from community projects to camping trips. Together they learn, grow, and make a difference!

Violet C., Troop 106042: I am a 2nd year Daisy and a 2nd generation Girl Scout! I love everything Girl Scouts from the sisterhood to camping.

Hannah, Troop 130043: One of the things I love most about Girl Scouts is that it helps me try new things I might have been nervous to do before. Every time I earn a new badge or help lead part of a a troop activity, I feel more confident in myself. Girl Scouts has also helped me make great friendships. We are a multilevel troop with Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors, and I love helping the younger girls. Sometimes I help them understand activities or show them what to do. It makes me feel like a leader, and I also learn a lot from them, too.

Ashley A, Troop 143099: I have been leader(co) of my daughter and her troop for five years. The growth I have seen in her makes truly proud to support her and all Girl Scouts. I look forward to my youngest daughter joining in the fall.

Troop 153102: We have enjoyed this year in Girl Scouting!

Autumn E., Troop 108001: Girl Scouts has given me so much.

Including learning experiences and making many friends. It has given me confidence to speak to others and it allows me to learn new things.

It’s so much fun, especially when we helped dogs get adopted out of a shelter. This is why I love Girl Scouts.

Troop 13047: The girls first met because of Girl Scouts, but what they have built together has become so much more than meetings, badges, and campouts. Through adventures, challenges, laughter, and growth, they formed friendships that turned into true lifelong bonds. They learned to support one another and celebrate each other’s successes. While their paths may lead them in different directions, the connection they built in this troop will always remain, a sisterhood that will continue after their Girl Scout journey ends.

Summer Camp Sparks Girl Scout to Aim for Olympics Four years ago, on a sunny afternoon at Camp Agnes Arnold, Girl Scout Ella P. had no idea her life was about to change. As she began to drive away with her mom after a fun-filled week at overnight camp, an archery instructor waved frantically at them. The instructor told Ella she had a natural talent for archery and encouraged her to take additional lessons.

Taking Aim That unexpected moment set Ella on a path she continues to follow today. Now 12 years old, Ella is a national champion archer with dreams of competing in the 2032 Olympic Games – the same year she’ll graduate from high school. In March, Ella earned first place in the Cub Female Freestyle Limited Recurve category at the National Field Archery Association (NFAA) Indoor National Championships in Nashville, Tennessee, setting a new national record. Two weeks later, she placed third in another NFAA competition in Las Vegas.

Ella proudly wore her Girl Scout jersey when she stepped up to accept her championship bowl. It was a nod to the Girl Scout Movement that helped her build enough confidence to aim high. Standing on the podium and hearing the crowd cheer, Ella recalls thinking, “Oh my gosh! I’ve been working so hard for this!”

Ella received her first bow and arrow as a Christmas gift when she was 8 years old. A year later, she began competing with one goal in mind: making it to the Olympic Games. Since then, she’s traveled all over the country for state and national competitions.

Practice Makes Perfect Behind every medal is a lot of dedication. Ella practices for 30 minutes to an hour every day, sometimes before school, sometimes after, and occasionally both, either in her backyard or at a local range. Every Tuesday evening, she trains with her coach, shooting with her Olympic recurve bow equipped with a sight and stabilizer. She’s made some tough choices along the way, including stepping back from rock climbing and ballet, which she started at age 3, to focus on archery.

“I have a lot more passion for archery, but I still have my pointed-toe shoes,” Ella says with a smile. “I wake up wanting to compete and have fun. It keeps me going. It just feels right.”

Ella knows that earning a spot on the 2032 USA Archery Team won’t be easy, but she’s ready and excited for the challenge. To do so, she must continue developing her skills and improving her shooting range from 40 meters to 70 meters (an Olympic requirement).

She will also need to continue competing in Texas Field Archery Association, NFAA, and USA Junior Olympic Archery Development events. She’s already competed in several competitions this year and will travel to Nebraska, Texas, Florida, and Utah this summer.

Hitting the Bullseye Before Girl Scout camp, Ella had never even heard of archery. What she remembers most clearly is admiring the older Girl Scouts on the range. They looked confident, steady, and cool as they pulled back their bows. “They did it effortlessly,” Ella recalls. “I remember thinking, I have to do this.”

That feeling turned into confidence – something Ella says Girl Scouts helped her build early on. “You have to know you’re good enough, or you’re not going to make it,” she says, a mindset that helps her handle pressure on the range and in school. Balancing competitions and classwork can be difficult, but her teachers provide classwork to help her stay on track while she’s traveling, and her family and Girl Scout community, including her Troop 125086, are always cheering her on.

From being inspired by older Girl Scouts at camp to being personally encouraged by a Girl Scout volunteer to keep shooting, Ella’s journey shows how one small moment can help a girl discover a passion buried within herself and aim for big dreams.

Girls are encouraged to try new things through Girl Scout camps, Special Interest Groups, council programming, and badge-earning activities. The volunteers and staff who work with Girl Scouts are passionate about helping girls like Ella identify the courage, confidence, and character that lie within.

State of the Girl 2026 Reveals Importance of Connection 3 in 5 girls say they have not felt confident at school because of how they feel about their appearance

Girls are growing up in a fast-paced, age-compressed cultural landscape that is affecting their well-being, mental health, development, and safety. Loneliness, confidence, body image, and the pressures of growing up in a digital world weigh on girls and their friends. The good news: the latest State of the Girl report from Girl Scouts of the USA reveals that despite these challenges, girls remain ambitious, creative and eager to explore their potential.

What makes the biggest difference? Connection. Girls are more likely to try new things, take risks, and build confidence when they have a supportive friend by their side or a trusted adult to guide them. For 100+ years, Girl Scouts has given girls the space to discover new interests, build leadership skills, and grow their confidence in a supportive environment. Whether they're exploring STEM, learning outdoor skills, serving their communities, or making lifelong friends, Girl Scouts helps girls find joy in their journey.

In a recent GSSJC survey, 91% of girls said they feel welcome, 92% said their troopmates care about one another, and 90% said they have a supportive troop leader who cares about them. At a time when many girls are looking for connection, belonging, and encouragement, Girl Scouts remains a place where they can thrive, discover what they're capable of, and become the leaders their communities need.

Mary Rose Smith Mary Rose Smith’s Girl Scout journey began in 1985 as the leader of Brownie Troop 3865. What started as a desire to support a small group of girls soon grew into a lifelong commitment. Over the years, she served as a day camp leader, chaired multiple events, and by 1989 expanded her leadership to the district level, where her energy and enthusiasm became widely known.

Mary Rose later founded the Travel Special Interest Group, opening the world to girls and adults through meaningful travel experiences. Much of her service, though, has focused on volunteer development, inspiring adults to share the joys of the outdoors with thousands of girls. She has also played a key role in caring for outdoor training facilities, ensuring they are safe, welcoming, and wellmaintained, often with help from her family.

Known for her responsibility, attention to detail, and collaborative spirit, Mary Rose is a trusted leader who embodies the heart of Girl Scouting. She has earned her place among our Lifetime Achievement honorees and was also presented with her 45-year Girl Scout Membership Pin, marking her unwavering commitment to the Movement.

President’s Award Recognizes the Community that meets all 10 criteria within a geographic area or program delivery team in moving toward achievement of council goals during a membership year.

Camp Robinwood Honored with Texas Historical Marker Camp Robinwood has been recognized with a Texas Historical Marker, honoring its important role in Girl Scout history and the community. At the dedication on May 13, guests witnessed the unveiling of the marker and toured newly renovated facilities, including the troop cabin, staff house, and lakeview dorm. These updates were made possible through the CampHER: Empowering Girls in Nature capital campaign.

Founded in 1949, during a time when segregation limited access to outdoor experiences for African American youcamp again your partnership and belief in the power of Girl Scouts and outdoor adventures.

Gold Award Girl Scouts The Girl Scout Gold Award represents the highest achievement in Girl Scouting. The award recognizes girls in grades 9-12 who demonstrate extraordinary leadership through sustainable and measurable Take Action projects. Since 1916, girls have successfully pursued the highest award, an act that indelibly marks them as accomplished members of their communities and the world.

Anya Baijal created a bluebird conservation project by building a nesting trail at Bates Allen Park and producing an educational video. Her video, shared on YouTube and linked by QR codes on the boxes and the county website, teaches viewers why bluebirds matter and how to help them. Her project provides long‑lasting conservation guidance for the community.

Sragvi Gireesh built a disaster preparedness game and led 34+ workshops reaching 784 students across six disaster types. She added Spanish translations, and partnered with Fort Bend County Emergency Management to ensure both accuracy and long-term accessibility through their website. Data showed that 91% of students improved their preparedness knowledge.

Isabelle DeGrange created Cookies with Grandma, a children’s book that explains Alzheimer’s disease in a warm, accessible way. She worked with seven volunteers, including an illustrator, editor, and publisher. She distributed 76 copies at three school libraries. Her project helps children understand Alzheimer’s with clarity and compassion.

Scotia Linn created eight episodes of "The Un-Tamed City," an environmental podcast targeting teens and young adults. To ensure sustainability, she trained youth cohosts and secured a commitment from the City of Houston Youth Ambassadors to integrate the podcast's content into their existing platform each season.

Liliana Evans created a new STEM honor society at her school. She led about 70 volunteers, including officers and competition teams. Her project expanded STEM access at a Title I school, enabling 15 students to compete at the UT Austin Science Olympiad and supporting AMC 12 participation.

The club is now permanent and will continue offering STEM opportunities.

Claire Mayfield completed her project at Clear Brook High School, partnering PALS and leading six student officers.

She created a women’s empowerment club that hosted monthly workshops on financial literacy, car maintenance, selfdefense, stress management, and health.

The program engaged more than 50 girls.

She also created a kit so other schools can start similar clubs.

Sadie Jackson created a program with Spring Spirit to help teens gain swim skills and earn lifeguard certifications.

Participants learned swimming, CPR, and rescue skills. Over 25 teens attended evaluations, and certified teens secured summer jobs. Sadie supported them with reminders, transportation, and resources.

The project will continue through Spring Spirit.

Eneh Oche launched a mental health YouTube channel featuring interviews with licensed therapists, a psychiatric nurse practitioner, and teens to make professional mental health support more accessible to teenagers who lacked resources. She promoted the channel at Cypress Woods High School. The channel reached 224 people, with viewers reporting improved awareness of mental health resources.

Olivia Porter tackled arts inequity at Jowell Elementary by leading dance workshops for 50–75 students and distributing bilingual brochures featuring free resources. She ensured sustainability by developing a full dance curriculum, recruiting her 46-member dance team as successors, and securing the brochure's permanent placement on the school website.

Seylah Sims created two drone‑aviation workshops at Houston Southwest Airport.

She taught six high school girls about drone safety, drone parts, and how to fly a drone. She led four volunteers from Explorer Post 1 and partnered with Bailey Military Institute. Her sustainability plan includes sharing materials, contact lists, and surveys, plus appointing a future workshop lead.

Nithalaakshaya Raja created weekly meditation and wellness sessions at a senior living center to address the social and emotional isolation. Resident feedback, staff observations, and steady retention collectively confirmed the program's impact on emotional wellbeing, and by training two younger Girl Scouts to continue leading sessions, she ensured the program's sustainability.

Jenna Sultan completed her project in partnership with Amaanah Refugee Services and Lifeblood Foundation. She created a three-episode documentary series featuring interviews with refugee athletes, coaches, and volunteers connected to the Amaanah Lions soccer team. The series was released online increasing awareness and empathy for refugees.

Isabela Setiawan created yoga and craft‑music classes for a summer camp at The Westview School, serving children with autism. She led volunteers, taught five craft classes with 10–15 kids each, and seven yoga classes with 7–10 kids. She interviewed teachers, observed progress, and saw volunteers grow in empathy.

She left materials and instructions so the classes can continue.

Madeleine Tran led volunteers and partnered with Kids ‘R’ Kids to teach 45 children about oral hygiene. Through presentations, hands‑on brushing and flossing demos, and community pamphlets, she helped reduce cavity risk and build lasting daily habits. She created lessons that strengthened early prevention and provided families with long‑term resources.

Micaela Scheiwe created 10 sensory boxes and trained Easterseals volunteers to better support autistic children. She spent 89 hours researching, assembling materials, and leading training. Her project helped children engage in activities more comfortably and gave families tools for use at home. Surveys showed 86% of parents found the boxes engaging, and therapists began using them in sessions.

Estee Villareal created a TikTok‑based financial literacy project to reduce overconsumption among teens. She researched 15 educational videos that promoted smarter spending habits. She recruited 16 volunteers from school sports and clubs to support outreach. Her project helps teens rethink “haul culture” and access lasting financial education online.

Free Mental Wellness Patch Program Life brings up all sorts of emotions, but being a Girl Scout means girls can tap into a community of people who uplift and guide them every step of the way. The Girl Scout Mental Wellness program teaches girls to care for their emotions and encourages them to become their most resilient self.

Stomping Into Science: A Dino Trail That Makes Learning Fun If you’ve ever tried exploring an outdoor science exhibit after a Texas rain, you know the problem: muddy shoes, slippery paths, and a quick decision to turn back. At Mercer Arboretum’s Prehistoric Garden, rain often made it hard for visitors to reach the area featuring prehistoric plants and petrified wood. That’s until a group of Girl Scouts found a creative solution.

Girl Scout Troop 106016 designed and built a playful and practical Dino Trail to help visitors safely explore the garden. To earn their Girl Scout Bronze Award, Anayah H., Brynn K., Jayda B., Isabelle A., Ivy S., and Skye R. created 25 handmade concrete stepping stones shaped like dinosaur footprints. Each 12‑by‑8‑inch stone forms a path through muddy areas, inviting visitors and kids to hop, stomp, and stride their way through history.

The Girl Scout Bronze Award recognizes Juniors who work together to make a lasting difference in their community.

The Dino Trail doesn’t just solve a safety issue; it sparks curiosity. At the end of the path, the girls installed a colorful plaque featuring a QR code. When scanned, it leads to a student‑created guide about trace fossils. The digital guide helps visitors understand how scientists use these clues to learn how prehistoric animals lived. By combining movement, discovery, and technology, the girls turned a muddy problem into an engaging learning experience.

The idea came from Ivy, whose family regularly visits the garden. She noticed how muddy the area became after rain and suggested creating stepping stones. The troop loved the idea and got to work. Troop Leader Amy Stephens contacted the garden’s groundskeeper, who approved the project and helped the girls decide where the stones should go.

During installation, the troop faced a challenge: while transporting one steppingstone, a dinosaur “toe” broke off. Instead of getting upset, the girls improvised. They placed the toe a few inches away, making it look like the dinosaur had an accident long ago — a small moment of creativity that made the trail even more memorable.

Right after the trail was completed, a family walked by. A boy eagerly jumped from footprint to footprint, following the trail all the way to the plaque. He scanned the QR code and started reading about fossils. For the troop, seeing someone learn and explore using something they built was exciting. That made me feel good — like I made a difference,” Skye said.

The project was a powerful lesson in teamwork and leadership. Each girl took on roles that matched her strengths. Some organized meetings and supplies. Others led the hands‑on concrete work, teaching teammates how to mix and mold the stones. Another group created the QR code guide, researching fossil facts, and presenting ideas to the troop. “We took a little bit of everyone’s ideas and made one big idea,” Ivy said. “We learned we had to collaborate for our project to work.”

Built with reinforced, crack‑resistant concrete, the Dino Trail is designed to last through weather, time, and countless footsteps. The QR code will remain active for years, keeping the learning going long after the concrete has set.

Today, the Prehistoric Garden is more accessible and more fun. Kids don’t just walk through history — they jump into it.

With creativity and teamwork, Troop 106016 proves that when Girl Scouts see a problem, they can make a lasting difference. And the next time it rains? The dinosaurs are ready.

Silver Award Project Builds Confidence Through Math For Mohini G., math has always been more than numbers on a page. After six years of participating in competition math, she noticed a pattern. “Girls don’t see many other girls in math competitions,” Mohini explained. “That can make them feel like they don’t belong. I wanted to show them that they do.”

For her Girl Scout Silver Award project, she wanted to create a fun and welcoming introduction to competition math for younger girls. She believes that positive early experiences help girls see that they belong and spark interest in math. Competitive math helps students build critical thinking, confidence, and strong problem-solving skills. But students often encounter math in ways that make them feel intimidated. Mohini wanted her project to help girls feel more comfortable and confident about their math skills.

To bring her vision to life, Mohini created and led a five-week workshop series for girls in third through fifth grades. Twenty elementary school students signed up for weekly two-hour sessions. During each class, Mohini introduced concepts from the American Mathematics Competition 8 (AMC 8) through clear explanations, interactive problem solving, and independent practice.

Each week focused on one of the main AMC 8 topics: algebra, geometry, number theory, and combinatorics. Mohini dedicated the final session to review, questions, and a challenge-style wrap-up. Transforming Outdoor Spaces to Help Dogs Find Homes When Brianna Colvin visited Kurth Memorial Animal Shelter, she didn’t just see a facility in need — she saw dogs waiting for a chance to thrive. What began as a search for a Girl Scout Gold Award project quickly became a mission to create lasting change.

An animal lover, Brianna decided to transform the shelter’s outdoor space into “Paw Park.” Walking through the shelter, Brianna noticed that overcrowding limited dogs’ chances to play freely, relax, and show their true personalities. “I could tell the shelter needed more than a temporary fix,” she said.

Determined to make a lasting impact, Brianna researched the root causes of overcrowding. She discovered that dogs with basic training are more likely to be adopted and stay in their new homes. With that insight, she focused her project on two goals: building a functional dog park and expanding access to training resources.

She got to work, transforming the bare outdoor area into an engaging, purposeful space. Brianna cleaned and painted barrels for agility exercises and built platforms that encourage dogs to jump, play, and explore. She also installed a leash holder, dog waste station, trash can, and benches for visitors. To support adopters, she created a training poster with simple tips for building strong, positive relationships with their dogs. Together, these elements promote both physical activity and emotional well-being while giving adopters a place to connect with their pets.

To introduce the space, Brianna hosted a grand opening and invited the community to experience the park. A local Girl Scout troop came to support her, and a TV station spotlighted the project, helping bring even more attention to the shelter’s mission.

Completing the project required persistence, creativity, and courage. Brianna funded much of the work with money she earned through Girl Scout Cookie sales and personally approached store managers at several large retailers to request donations of building materials. “I talked to every single store manager,” she said. “I was anxious, but I did it. Girl Scouts helped prepare me for that through cookie booths and leading meetings.”

Her determination paid off. Several retailers donated materials, and with help from her parents, Brianna brought Paw Park to life. Now, shelter dogs have a safe, enriching space to exercise and relax, while new adopters have a place to bond with their pets and begin building routines.

Within eight weeks of the park’s opening, shelter visits increased, and adopters actively used the training resources — all signs that her work was making a difference. Brianna’s project did more than improve space. It created new opportunities for dogs to be seen, adopted, and loved. It also helped her discover her own strength and voice. “My extracurricular activities slowed me down, but I finished,” she said. “Now I know I can talk to people and feel comfortable doing it.”

Brianna, a high school senior, plans to attend Baylor University to study medicine. She will carry forward the leadership, determination, and confidence she gained through her Gold Award — qualities that will continue to shape her future.

As both the creator and instructor, Mohini planned and led every part of the project. She reviewed past AMC 8 exams and designed a beginner-friendly curriculum tailored to younger students. She created lesson slides, practice problems, and homework assignments. To keep students engaged, she designed interactive Kahoot games that made learning fun and approachable.

In addition to teaching, Mohini created Google Forms for registration, communicated weekly with students and parents, and shared information about the classes through elementary school clubs and online forums.

One of the most impactful outcomes of Mohini’s project was the lasting resource she created for the community. She consolidated the lessons, homework, and helpful materials into a free website (https://sites.google.com/view/amc8introductionclass/home) that anyone can use. She designed the site with younger learners in mind so that teachers, volunteers, and math clubs can easily introduce competition math in a positive way. “My goal was to create content that could help students get started on their competitive math journey,” Mohini said. “I wanted it to continue helping others even after my project ended.”

By the end of the five weeks, students had learned key AMC 8 concepts and practiced competition-style problems. They completed a mock AMC 8 exam and learned how to manage time during a test. Many of the girls shared excitement about continuing their learning and plan to take the AMC 8 exam the following January.

Teaching younger students who were new to competition math helped Mohini grow as well. She learned how to explain complex ideas in simple, encouraging ways and how to keep students engaged and motivated. “I learned how important it is to break down concepts and be supportive,” she said. “It really helped me grow as a teacher and leader.”

Looking back, Mohini feels proud of what she accomplished. Her Silver Award project did more than teach math concepts. It helped young girls build confidence, discover new interests, and see themselves as capable problem-solvers. In true Girl Scout spirit, Mohini identified a need, acted, and created lasting impact, one math problem at a time.

Delivering Joy: One Smile at a Time

It gives us a chance to live out the values we talk about and show leadership in a real way. That is why Girl Scouts can take on quarterly service projects centered around a specific topic. The projects can be completed at home, with our troops, or with local nonprofits. Each project we complete gives us the chance to see the difference we can make together.

NEW Community Service Opportunity: As summer is officially over, a new service project is underway working with Color a Smile. All Girl Scout levels and new members are encouraged to join in!

How to participate: • Print out color pages found at: https://colorasmile.org/volunteer/coloring-pages.html.

• Color as many pages as possible using ONLY crayon, color pencils, or markers.

• Upon completion, mail the coloring pages to: Color A Smile, PO Box 1516, Morristown NJ 07962-1516. Color A Smile will send all pages to nursing homes, overseas troops, hospitals, meals on wheels programs, and others in need of a smile.

• When coloring these pages, please do NOT use glitter, include a date, or write “get well” messages since the recipients are not always sick.

• If unable to mail, you may hand out these coloring sheets at local nursing homes or to anyone in need of a smile!

• Completing these quarterly service projects allows you to earn a special community service patch!

1. Visit www.gssjc.org and click on MyGS. Log in using your Girl Scout credentials. Select My Events on the left. Click Register for Another Event at the top.

2. Search for events by keyword. You can filter by location, event type and dates. We recommend expanding your search to 90-mile radius if using ZIP code.

3. Once an event is selected, choose the appropriate number of girls and adults and click Add Event.

4. Select the registrants and check the box for credit card payment. Follow the prompts to complete checkout.

5. Time to get ready for adventure!

Join us for a spirit day full of Girl Scout tradition! Girls will be divided into teams with a chance to earn awards. Learn how to conduct a flag ceremony, have fun with archery, enjoy nature crafting, make bracelets, and search for letterboxes. End the day with a campfire, songs and award presentation. Each registrant will receive a carousel patch at the end of the event. Camp with your Girl Scout troop at this fun-filled weekend. Program is provided; you just prepare your girls for the camping experience and bring your own meals and camping supplies. A Carousel is a wonderful introduction to camping for a troop and a great time for experienced campers, too.

Join GSSJC for a vibrant celebration of Hispanic heritage!

Explore how communities across Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America honor loved ones, celebrate family traditions, and preserve cultural heritage.

Through interactive activities featuring art, music, storytelling, and traditions such as Día de los Muertos, girls will discover the rich diversity of Hispanic cultures while learning about remembrance, family, and community. Join us for an hands-on workshop at a local veterinary clinic where girls will step into the world of animal care.

During this interactive experience, participants will learn the basics of pet first aid, including how to recognize common emergencies and respond with care and confidence. Girls will also explore careers in veterinary medicine, hearing directly from clinic staff about their roles, education, and what a typical day looks like. To top it off, girls will go behind the scenes tour of the clinic, getting an up-close look at how veterinarians care for animals and keep them healthy.

Get ready for photo ops, scrunchie making, and a clothing swap. Whether you’re splashing, sewing, or striking a pose, Sassy Sister Squad Day is all about confidence, courage, character and celebrating each other in the most sister core way possible.

How does a Clothing Swap work? Bring clothes you don’t wear anymore and trade them for “new-to-you” items from friends. Clothes should be clean, gently used, and ready to wear.

Have fun trying on styles and supporting your swap squad.

Leftover clothes will be donated to a local thrift.

Camp LeadHERship

Camp LeadHERship offers an unforgettable weekend at camp during which girls discover what they are capable of through 1:1 mentorship with inspiring women professionals who work in energy, health care, technology and more. Each Girl Scout will be paired with a mentor who will join them for camp activities, meaningful campfire conversations, and real-world skill-building.

Girls who are selected will complete the CliftonStrengths assessment to prepare for a special workshop during the weekend that will help girls explore how to lean into their strengths for future education, leadership and career opportunities. Promote the Vote

Join the League of Women Voters as we explore the importance of the youth vote. We will discuss which issues matter to young people, why some youth do not register to vote, and why older generations tend to have higher voter registration and turnout.

College 101: STEM Day at Sam Houston State University

Learn about STEM careers and enjoy a day engaging in STEM activities with university faculty and students from the College of Science and Engineering Technology. Earn your STEM Career Exploration badge for your level (included), plus meet some requirements for other STEM badges.

Do hands-on experiments and explore the fields of chemistry, computer science, engineering, biology, environmental science, geology, astronomy, or forensics. Learn about college life with a Q&A panel of students and admissions staff. Fun patch, swag bag and earned badges are included with the girl registration fee. Adventure Park Day Climb

Join us at Adventure Park for a fun two-hour climb! Girls will tackle obstacles like floating tires, rope walls, and more, all while secured with harnesses and helmets and guided by trained facilitators. Along the way, they’ll build teamwork skills and gain confidence. The experience may end with an exciting zipline ride. Every participant will earn an Adventure Park patch. Participants must weigh between 70–300 lbs. and be at least 70 inches tall, measured from flat feet to fingertips with one arm fully extended overhead.

Archer in Motion Special Interest Group

Hone your archery skills and have some fun! Participate in the Girl Scout USA Archery JOAD team as you work to move that target back. This is a year-round opportunity, and practices occur at least once a month. Participation in this group is from September 2026 – May 2027. Girls will be required to shoot a score of 100 on the small range before moving to the larger AIM range and beginning the JOAD pin program. Due to the rigor of our practice sessions and restrictions by USA Archery, this special interest group is for Juniors – Ambassadors. Backpacking Orientation

Backpacking Orientation is required to join the Backpacking Special Interest Group and covers the basics for troops and individuals new to backpacking. Whether girls are with a troop or participating as an individually registered girl, they’ll join a group of new friends for the weekend.

Participants will learn how to pack a backpack, care for a tent, and cook on a personal stove. They’ll transfer their gear into their backpack, hike two miles to their campsite, and set up camp for an overnight mini-backpacking adventure. Enjoy a campfire, cook your dinner, and spend the night under the stars.

The next morning, participants will pack, hike back to camp, and leave ready and excited for their first full backpacking trip.

Bolivar Beach Cleanup

Join Gulf Coast Bird Observatory for a beach cleanup on Bolivar. There are lots of birds, fish, and other wildlife that live along our coasts, and trash pollution is a big threat to them. We can help animals and ourselves by removing litter from beaches and waterways, especially in important habitats like Bolivar.

Older Girl Citizen Science Leadership Camp Retreat

Troop 138009 participated in a Galveston beach cleanup and sea turtle education program. After learning about the importance of protecting Marine wildlife and preserving our beaches, the girls put their knowledge into action by collecting 23.99 lb of trash from the shoreline.

Science Camp Day

Join our older girl team captains to earn the first two Math in Nature badges. Learn about citizen science, how to make observations and have a great time at camp. Fine Arts Green Starlettes Dance Team

If you love to dance, then the Green Starlettes is for you!

Mosaic Art Workshops

Join Orange Show artists at the whimsical Smither Park for an intro into the basics of mosaic design as you create a unique piece of art to take home. Mosaic art is the decoration of a surface with designs made up of closely set small pieces of material such as stone, mineral, glass, tile or shell. These introductory workshops are facilitated by veteran Smither Park artists who instruct in the basics of mosaic design, encouraging you to experiment with colors and shapes. The Mosaic Wall Project at Smither Park

Smither Park is built one story at a time; The Memory Wall is where those stories live. Through panels of mosaics made from salvaged materials, artists and community members share personal narratives that reflect life, memory, and imagination. No two panels are alike, and that’s the beauty of it. As a prerequisite, girls must first attend one of the mosaic workshops above. The project group will be formed from these workshops and will come together to create a piece, with guidance from a mentor, learning as they go. This is slow, hands-on, on-site work. The schedule will be determined by the group.

Heart to Art - Volunteers Needed

In May 2027, Heart to Art returns! This weekend retreat at Misty Meadows Ranch offers a girl-designed, self-led, arts and wellness experience to Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors, with themes of creativity, self-exploration, inspiration, growth, mindfulness, and gratitude. Girls will unplug and step away from their busy lives by retreating into nature and immersing themselves in artistic experiences to nourish and reinvigorate their creative spark.

Horse Sense Weekend

Ready to join us at the barn for the whole weekend? This is the program for you! Participants will enjoy learning about horses both on the ground and in the saddle. This session jumpstarts the summer camp progression by skipping the Rainbow level and offers a true taste of what SPURS experience all weekend.

Meals are not provided. Program hours are 9 a.m. – noon and 2 – 5 p.m. on Saturday, with an optional session from 9 – 11 a.m. on Sunday. Participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodation for the weekend.

SPURS Training

This one hour session combines the best of both riding and Love, Hug, and Groom! Participants will enjoy a 25-minute ride in the arena followed by 25 minutes of hands-on grooming with camp horses. Girls must arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled time to be fitted for boots and helmets. Appropriate attire includes long pants and boots with a smooth sole and a ½-inch heel. Learn the theories and hands-on skills needed to join the SPURS (Super People Using Riding Skills) special interest group(SIG) at Misty Meadows Ranch. Are you curious about sailing? Do you want to feel the wind on your face and hear the water splashing around you? STEM Marathon Refining STEM Day

The Marathon Refining STEM Day program is a wonderful opportunity for Girl Scouts to explore different energy subjects and to possibly become interested in a STEM path that may develop into a career. Each girl will participate in a full day of hands-on activities led by women in the oil and gas industry at the Marathon Training Center. Lunch is provided.

Girl Scouts will explore the world and make lifelong memories on an unforgettable adventure to London in 2027! This journey blends global Girl Scout connection with rich history, culture, and creativity. Girls will visit Pax Lodge, one of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) World Centers, to connect with Girl Scouts from around the world, then dive into London — from the masterpieces of the National Gallery and the energy of Covent Garden to the iconic pageantry of Buckingham Palace.

They’ll step back in time at Hampton Court Palace, experience the charm of a traditional afternoon tea, and even follow in the footsteps of Harry Potter across the city.

Embark on the adventure of a lifetime with this journey through Japan and South Korea — a global experience filled with culture, discovery, and personal growth. From exploring historic Osaka Castle and walking through Kyoto’s iconic Fushimi Inari Shrine to experiencing a traditional Japanese tea ceremony and sampling local treats, girls will immerse themselves in rich traditions while building confidence and independence. They’ll travel through scenic regions like Takayama and Shirakawa-go, learn about traditional architecture, and even try hands-on cultural activities like Zen meditation and crafting gold-leaf chopsticks — bringing global learning to life in meaningful and memorable ways.

591 Camping and Overnight Basics (COB) This online course that certifies registered, background-checked adults to lead camping and overnight trips for their troop. After taking this course, volunteers will be qualified to rent units at camp, lead overnight trips with the troop, and help girls make the most out of their camp experience.

Health and Safety Weekend Bring your adult volunteers out to get trained for First Aid, canoe, kayak and standup paddleboard, Youth Mental Health first aid, archery, lifeguard, day/twilight camp and/or Wilderness First Aid! Meals will be included with some courses stretching over meal times, and overnight accommodations are included with some courses.

591 GSUSA Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Course Learn how to recognize the signs of abuse and neglect, and how to be proactively prevent child abuse. This course is required for all volunteers working with girls and must be renewed every two years.

NEW! 591 GSSJC First Aider Orientation Getting first aid training is essential for at least one adult in every Girl Scout group, but understanding the Girl Scout processes for being a first aider can be challenging. Complete this online course to become familiar with the GSSJC first aid safety processes and learn which first aid certifications are right for your group. NOTE: This course alone does not qualify an adult as a troop/group first aider, but is required for all GSSJC first aiders.

GSUSA’s New Leader Onboarding Series Learn what Girl Scouts do, how to engage families in troop activities, and walk through your first troop meeting. Available online in gsLearn.

Volunteer Basics Volunteer Basics covers the fundamentals of volunteering . The four training modules include Safety Basics, Troop/Group Basics, Financial Basics, and DEIB. This training is required for all new leaders and recommended for all volunteers.

Daisy Brownie Program Leadership This course is designed for new troop leaders, and volunteers who work with girls in K-2 (Daisies and Brownies). Participants will identify the characteristics of each age group while learning about earned awards, troop governance, field trips, service projects, ceremonies, the girl/adult partnership, tips to encourage girl planning, and more!

First Aid CPR/AED Blended This blended Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED course includes online learning and an in-person skills session and to provide certification for infant, child, and adult care. To earn certification, participants must complete both parts, including the online coursework, which takes about two to four hours, before attending the in-person session. The online portion includes videos and a digital manual.

First Aid CPR/AED Review This course reviews and recertifies Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED for participants whose certification is current or expired by no more than 30 days. The course includes in-person demonstrations, practice, and a written test, and lasts about three hours. Participants must score 80% or higher on the written test to recertify.

Partnering with Girl Scout Juniors This course is designed to provide specifics on working with girls in grades 4–5. It includes various forms of troop government, characteristics of the girls, the girl/adult partnership, tips on girl planning, and more.

Volunteer Camper Certification (VCC) This course prepares you to take girls outdoors safely and confidently and support their camp planning. Practice outdoor cooking methods, outdoor ceremonies, campfire basics, and other essential skills. Learn how to cook safely and efficiently while building practical outdoor experience you can use to help girls plan and lead camping activities. Prerequisite: Camping and Overnight Basics (COB).

Winter Train-in: SAVE THE DATE! Tailor your track from courses suggested by level or create your own path. If your troop spans multiple levels, consider bringing another volunteer to cover more sessions. Enjoy enrichment trainings to enhance troop meetings, learn Girl Scout traditions, and spend the day at camp — lunch included! Registration opens Oct. 15 in gsEvent.

First Aid Tips for Troops It’s time to start planning your troop's activities for the year. Remember, for any activity away from your regular meeting, at least one volunteer must be designated as the troop’s first aider. Not all first aid training is the same, so we’ve provided tips on selecting a training that works for the volunteer(s) in your troop and fulfills GSSJC requirements.

• GSSJC routinely offers first aid training with Red Cross-certified instructors. The majority of these trainings are ‘blended,’ meaning that a portion is completed online before the in-person training.

GSSJC offers these courses at an affordable and classes can fill up quickly.

• GSSJC provides a list of approved courses by certifying organizations to help you find one that fits your schedule.

Search “First Aid Courses Accepted by GSSJC” on the GSSJC website.

• Volunteers may find free or low-cost first aid certification through local hospitals or fire stations.

Contact them to ask about classes and confirm they meet GSSJC requirements.

• Some Communities offer training to their members. Check with other troop leaders, your Community Service Team, or your volunteer experience manager to see if any trainings are scheduled.

• Some medical licenses (in combination with current CPR/AED certification) can serve as a first aider for your troop. See Safety Activity Checkpoints for a list of equivalent licenses.

The First Aider patch is exclusively available to volunteers who complete certification with GSSJC after 9/1/23.

Two important distinctions for required first aid training: • The training must include a demonstration of skills. Completely online training will not suffice for GSSJC First Aid requirements.

• Training must include adult and pediatric CPR, first aid, and AED. Confirmwith the instructor that all these elements will be covered before registering for training.

Remember to include the troop first aid volunteer when planning activities and creating Emergency Action Plans. Review the Safety Activity Checkpoints to ensure girls’ safety for each planned activity.
