End of Year Giving
As we approach the end of the year, we reflect on the incredible journeys of the girls we serve at Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council. Thanks to your support, we’ve been able to provide leadership development to more than 39,000 girls throughout 26 counties in Southeast Texas each year. Through our Girl Scout Leadership Experience program, girls obtain the tools they need to succeed at home, at school, and in their communities.
This year, we provided many valuable experiences for girls including:
• More than 40,000 memorable outdoor experiences.
• A total of 127 Camperships for overnight and day camps during the summer.
• Staff-led Girl Scout Outreach programming to atrisk girls in Title 1 schools, community centers, and detention centers.
• Twenty-five college scholarships to Gold Award Girl Scouts.
When asked “What is the best thing you did in Girl Scouts this year, and what made it so special for you?” girls responded:
• “The best thing I did in Girl Scouts was canoeing for the first time, it was special because of the quietness and peacefulness.”
• “We gave back to our school with some of our cookie money and it makes me happy to see the items we donated every day in the school library.”
• “It made it special that I can always have my sister alongside of me and meet new girls of all backgrounds in my area. My forever bonded Girl Scout sisters.”
Together, we can give our Girl Scouts the opportunity to discover their strengths, meet new challenges, and build friendships that can last a lifetime. Congratulations to 2024 Gold Award Girl Scouts!
Last spring, 129 Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts earned the prestigious Gold Award. Seventy-nine of them attended the council’s annual Highest Award ceremony, where they were honored for making long-lasting impacts in their communities by planning and executing Take Action projects. A heartfelt congratulations to this year’s Gold Award Girl Scouts! Thank you for inspiring us all and for working so hard to make the world a better place
