Elizabeth (Beth) Cantrell is beginning her third year as the leader of Troop 60013 in the Pegasus Service Unit.

She has enjoyed learning and growing right along with her daughter. Beth says, “I’m very big about acceptance and I hate the judgment that goes on in our society today. Each girl has their individual personality and I want them to feel accepted.” One of her troop’s fondest memories is donating cookies to the “Real Life Children’s Ranch”, a group home for foster children. Beth is looking forward to what the girls will do next. She has agreed to help her Service Unit plan the ‘My Guy and Me Dance’ and Pegasus’ famous ‘Pumpkin Derby’ in October. Thank you for Beth for your commitment to the girls!

High Awards Deadline Girls who have completed the 5th, 8th or 12th grades have until Monday, October 2, 2017 to submit their final report for the completion of their Bronze, Silver and Gold Award project. Our brand new signature program is quickly approaching at TWO great locations.

Join us on October 14, 2017 for this exciting program, jam-packed with hands-on badge earning activities that take girls towards healthier minds, bodies and spirits.

Girls will earn badges in sessions led by teams of health experts from Baptist Health South Florida at the Coral Springs location and Palm Beach Children’s Hospital at the West Palm Beach location. Nurses, doctors, dietitians, exercise physiologists, and mental health specialists will lead fun and educational programs about making healthy food choices, healthy eating, exercise, mental health and more. Daisy through Senior Girl Scouts will earn one badge and one patch each and Ambassador Girl Scouts and Adults will have the opportunity to register for CPR certification. Plus, visit the booths at our health fair for interactive demonstrations with different healthcare providers.

Galactic Girls rule the skies! Join us on November 4, 2017 at THREE out-of-this-world locations as you sit back, relax and observe the night sky full of bright stars, galaxies and mystery. Learn about stars and constellations and listen to multi-cultural folklore and mythology. In this program, you will learn about astronomical discoveries and the women who helped make them. Women in Science have made amazing discoveries about our solar system. Enjoy themed crafts and snacks. Glow-in-the-Dark program patch included. Check out all the details so you don’t miss this out-of-this-world adventure!

Broward Sheriff’s Patch Up for Safety A FREE and interactive educational event on October 20, 2017 geared towards BROWNIE and JUNIOR Girl Scout troops that teaches participants the skills needed to meet the requirements for the Girl Scout Safety Award Pin and First Aid Badges.

Register Now for Girl Scouts Lead the Way Luncheon in Broward County!

Join us on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Signature Grand in Davie for the Girl Scouts Lead the Way luncheon honoring inspirational women of Broward County. Awards will be presented to three professional women who are leaders in their industries and serve as role models for today’s girls.

We are thrilled that our event will be hosted by Mistress of Ceremonies Ellen Jaffe of Easy 93.1 and the Keynote Speaker will be Laurie Jennings of WPLG Local 10 News.

If you’re having a troop meeting, Service Unit event or cookie booth, chances are the host facility will need a Certificate of Insurance. Volunteers just need to complete the Troop Certificate of Insurance Request Form and click submit. This form can be found in the FORMS section of our website at www.gssef.org accessed directly with this link. Please allow 10 business days for processing. A copy of the COI will be sent to you via email.

Travel Application changes are afoot! You spoke and we listened! In a few weeks, we will be launching a series of new, easy to complete travel applications. The new versions of these forms will be fillable PDFs that are specific to different activities.

We’re creating new, separate forms for a simple, temporary change of meeting, day trip, overnight or international trip and camping excursion. Once they’re ready to roll we’ll send an email announcement out to all troop leaders. Be on the lookout for that email and the new forms around the week of September 4.

Fall Product Sale Starts October 1st Get ready to put your Super-HER-O capes on! Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida’s 2017 Fall Product Sale Program begins October 1 and runs through November 15.

This year’s theme is “Unleash the Hero Inside”! It is intended to reach family, friends, teachers and neighbors, and will help troops earn money to fund troop programs and activities throughout the year. Individually registered girls can also participate. Don’t miss out on the awesome rewards!

The Council’s Fall Product Sale Program helps girls develop five key life skills: Goal-setting. Decision making. People skills.

Money management. Business ethics.
