Crystal goes out of her way to help with service unit events and next, her troop is planning the Holiday Parade. They feel that instead of holiday costumes for the parade, which is common, the girls want to wear their Girl Scout uniforms to really show their presence in Okeechobee. Thank you, Crystal, for all you do for the girls!

Crystal Garcia is a Daisy/Brownie Troop Leader for Pegasus Service Unit. Her advice for new leaders is “when there is a lot going on and events are happening back to back, try to do things in pieces.” Crystal and her co-leader, Linda Robles, have put on a program in Okeechobee for two years called Pumpkin Derby. In this event, each girl decorates a pumpkin and adds wheels to make it mobile. The pumpkin is then sent down a ramp and the crowd cheers as it drives forward. First, second and third place trophies are awarded for Fastest Pumpkin and Best Decorated Pumpkin. The troop’s Dads are especially fond of helping with this program and offering assistance with tools and supplies. This year, 28 girls participated in the event.
