We would like to say “THANK YOU” to our family, friends and customers for taking the time to show your interest and support in our program. The weather has been amazing this winter; hopefully saved some expenses on feed and bedding! Cattle prices have been good all fall and seem to be on a much needed incline. Seems to be a great time to be in the cattle business.

We are very proud of our bull offering this year! We always try hard to cull our herd if the animal does not fit our criteria. Foot structure, udder quality, temperament, and longevity are on our mind all the time. We have done some more embryo work in the last few years to help improve our herd. We are confident that our customers will also gain from the benefits of this work by obtaining any of these bulls. Our goal is to make cattle that will go out and work for their owners making them more profit with less inputs. Whether you need a calving ease bull, power cow bull, or somewhere in between, we will help you find that bull to suit your specific needs.

We are very happy to have my parents, Murray and Lil, join us in the sale. MJM Enterprises has offered up another very strong set of females from the top of their pen. There will be a great selection of top quality replacement heifers and first calf heifer pairs on offer again.

Coffee is always on at the farm. We encourage everyone to stop by the farm and view the cattle at anytime prior to the sale. We are once again offering up a sale credit for this years bull purchase to anyone who takes the time and come tour the bulls at home before we move them to the sale facility. SALE DAY INFORMATION

• SIGHT UNSEEN PURCHASES If you are unable to attend the sale and wish representation, please let any of the sale staff know and they will be happy to assist you. For sight unseen purchases we guarantee satisfaction upon delivery.

• DELIVERY Golden Sunset will rebate $150/lot OR if you live over 150km away, will rebate $1/ loaded km/lot if taken home within 7 days of sale. We will start delivery 1 week after sale to central points in Western Canada. Transport of bulls not taken on scheduled delivery runs will be the buyers responsibility. For bulls headed to the Eastern provinces, the transport cost will be the responsibility of the buyer. Rebate for bull purchases only.

• USA DELIVERY Golden Sunset will assist in arrangements for the cattle to be shipped to wherever you are in the US, at the buyers cost. All bulls sold to the USA will be charged an additional $250/ bull to cover testing and border crossing cost. Payment for export cattle must be 50% prior to testing and the balance will be due prior to shipping.

• PAYMENT OPTIONS Payment is cash or cheque payable par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until settlement is made in full. Please call Kyle prior to the sale if you would like to make alternate arrangements.

• RIGHT TO SEMEN Golden Sunset reserves the right to collect semen at Golden Sunsets expense and the buyer’s convenience. Any semen collected will be for Golden Sunsets in herd use only, unless specified in the terms of a sale lot.

• HOOF TRIMMING No feet have been trimmed on any of the sale bulls.

• BULL WARRANTY All bulls are guaranteed breeders. All bulls are semen tested and vet inspected, and under a full herd health program. The standard CAA guarantee applies. We do not warranty against injury or illness after the sale, and encourage the use of insurance for that purpose. If the bulls are left at the farm, insurance is recommended. Golden Sunset will have replacement bulls on hand to cover your breeding season should you have any issue with your bull. Under no circumstances shall Golden Sunset be responsible for more than the purchase price of the said animal.

• PURCHASER’S RISK Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. In an effort to protect the buyer’s interest, we strongly recommend insuring the bulls. An insurance agent will be available sale day.

CRACKEN 16F was our lead off bull that sold to SSS back in 2019. He has sired many top dollar bulls in their sales. The daughters that he is producing are second to none. They exhibit an abundance of capacity and volume while maintaining femininity. This includes a tremendous foot and an unbelievable udder quality. The sons here have a great deal of calving ease built in. They are very easy keeping, with tons of volume and capacity, good hipped animals that carry that muscle down into the lower quaters. Most sons will work well on heifers.

He crossed very well within the cowherd and his daughters will be mainstays in the herd in the coming years.

Wow. How time flies when you’re having fun. Another year has come and gone, and it’s time to sell some cattle.

We will be joing Kyle, Sarah, Isabelle, Grady, and Oaklynn on March 21 where they will be selling their Red Angus bulls. We will be selling 35 yearling Simmi-cross heifers and 35 two year old first calf heifers with calves at side.

Cattle are at an all time high and the future looks promising. These cattle are all home raised and are the result of a strong bull and culling program.

I would like to thank our full time help. Thank-you Monika and Carson, good job.

Please feel free to stop by the farm to view the cattle. As always coffee is on, beer is cold, crib lessons are free, and B.S. plentiful!

35 Replacement Heifers

HERD HEALTH

• All cows and replacement heifers are MJM Enterprises’ home raised and on a full herd health program. They will have had their pre-breeding shot within 1 month prior to sale. Bovi-shield Gold FP5-VL5, Blackleg + Somm, and Backline.

• All cows selling are 2 year olds with first calves at side. Calves are sired by Golden Sunset and Y-Coulee Cattle Co. bulls. All cows were vaccinate/boostered with Scour Bos 9/Scour Guard last fall. All calves have receive Bovi-Shield Gold One Shot, Black leg + Somm, Backline, and Toltrazuril Pills within 1 month prior to sale.

• There will be 35 Pairs sorted in to groups of 5. Groups will be sorted for uniformity closer to sale date. Calves will be Jan/Feb born.

• There will be 35 replacement heifers sorted in groups of 5. Groups will be sorted for uniformity closer to sale date. All replacement heifers will be palpated.

• All cattle will be at sale location 3 days prior to sale date for viewing or prior to that at the farm. All heifers and pairs must be picked-up and removed from sale location within 24hrs of sale.

Neudale Veterinary Services has been proudly working with MJM Enterprises to support their cattle herd health.

Calves at Birth receive Vitamin ADE and SelonE.

At Spring Turnout calves are vaccinated with Zoetis’ Select Vac Gold + Program using BoviShield Gold One Shot and Ultrabac 7/Somubac. Calves also receive Toltrazuril to control and prevent coccidiosis.

At Fall Run calves are boosted with Bovi-Shield Gold One Shot and Ultrabac 7/Somubac Calves also receive internal and external parasite control with Solmectin.

Yearling Heifers are vaccinated 30-days pre-breeding with Bovi-Shield Gold FP5 + VL5 and Ultrabac 7/Somubac, they also receive internal and external parasite control with Safeguard and Backline Yearling heifers are palpated by a veterinarian pre-sale to subjectively evaluate the pelvis for any abnormalities or gross narrowing. The presence of a female reproductive tract is also verified

Cow Herd is annually vaccinated for scours prevention and heifers are primed and boosted. They are also vaccinated annually pre-breeding with Bovi-Shield FP5-VL5, and every 2 years with Ultrachoice8. Cows receive internal and external parasite control with Safe-Guard and Backline.

It is such a pleasure working with the Martin family of Golden Sunset Ranch and watching their program evolve. The bull feeding program is built to maximize forage utilization and gut health; they are developed on grass with their moms on a strict mineral program. All the forages are sampled and analyzed to ensure quality forages are used. Once the calves are weaned, they are slowly moved onto a balanced TMR.

The bulls are challenged with a forage-based TMR to help them develop and express their genetic potential. Matching suitable protein sources with proper starch is key to promoting lean muscle growth.
