COME AND JOIN US!

Christmas arrives near the winter solstice, the longest night of the year. We recognize that for many the Christmas holidays are a joyous time with much celebrating and cheer. For others though, the holidays are difficult times and lack the warmth and affection of those they miss dearly. While some celebrate, others grieve the losses in their lives. Nobody wants to grieve when the Christmas season begins, yet the reality is people do. We know grief. We know loss. At this time of year, it can overwhelm us. We struggle to find the holiday spirit. We are slow to join in the joyful mood of Christmas because of our losses. The reality of death of a loved one often puts us in the midst of very long nights. This Service of Remembrance recognizes the real darkness that exists in our lives and in the world. At the same time, we hope that glimpses of light will shine through the darkness, just as stars pierce a dreary winter night. The service is designed to welcome God’s presence in the midst of darkness through music, prayers, Word of God, candle lighting, communion of saints and the community gathered together to bring comfort to one another. It is my desire that this service gives hope and a future to those whose lives are in darkness and to those in difficult circumstances. God cares for you and wants you to have a future, a future that includes his unconditional love. Come and share in the light of God’s glorious love. The peace and joy of Jesus Christ be with you, Pastor Paul
