Plan Your Year Program Guide 26-27

Page 1

How to Run a Successful Troop

Girl Scouts make friends, challenge themselves with new experiences, write their own stories, and develop the skills and confidence to say, “I know I can do this!” As a troop leader, you support this process—and the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) is the tool that helps you to do it.

When a Girl Scout exhibits our five outcomes, we know they have the skills and abilities to thrive.

Variety of Activities

• National Program (i.e. Badges, Pins, and Patches

• Outdoor

• Cookie Program

• Community Service

• Field Trips and Events

Supportive Relationships

This means their troop leaders

• Care about them

• Enable possibility thinking

• Are inclusive

• Provide a safe space with positive peer relationships

Proven Results

• Girl Led

• Cooperative Learning

• Learning By Doing Three Girl Scout Processes

Five Girl Scout Outcomes

• Strong Sense of Self

• Positive Values

• Challenge Seeking

• Healthy Relationships

• Community Problem Solving

Why follow these steps? Because they work! Studies show that Girl Scouts are more likely to develop a strong sense of self, positive values, healthy relationships, challenge-seeking traits, and community problem-solving skills when they experience all the elements of the GSLE—and as a troop leader, you’re a key part of making the magic happen!

TIP: Encourage them to explore a variety of activities in the Outdoors, STEM, Life Skills, Entrepreneurship, and even field trips, allowing them to discover new interests and passions.

TIP: The main ways you can support girls in your troop are to make them feel welcomed and included, acknowledging their ideas and feelings, keeping them safe, and encouraging respect and teamwork among them.

Tips for Daisy Troops Tips for Brownie Troops

Daisy is the first level in Girl Scouts for girls in grades K-1.

Troop Size: 10-15; Keep troops open for more girls and new friends.

We’re ready for a great Girl Scout year.

Consider our DreamLab and other council events as an easy way for you to offer quality programming for your troop. Go over this list with them and have them choose one event per month. This list of planned events is what we know as of Summer 2026.

New events are being added all the time and can be found on ActiveNet by visiting www.gsnetx.org/events. (ActiveNet how-to is on pages 21-22)

In these table listings, you will see colored dots that indicate the Program Grade Level for the activities. The key is at the bottom of each page.

Calendar Disclaimer:

All programs are subject to change. Please check the website for the most up-to-date information as new programs are added throughout the year.

Third-Party Program Disclaimer:

Some programs are hosted by program partners, not the council. Registration, communication, and program delivery are managed by the third-party provider, not GSNETX.

Fall Program:

Registration opens August 4, 2026. Spring program registration will open in January 2027.

Program Release Schedule:

New programs are typically released weekly on Tuesdays. See the calendar for specific registration opening dates.

The GSNETX Mobile Programming Initiative brings Girl Scout experiences directly into communities, expanding access to hands-on earning, leadership development, and meaningful opportunities for girls and families across Northeast Texas.

The Dallas Mobile Programming Van has served 2,437 girls over the past Girl Scouting year, delivering badge-aligned workshops, STEM experiences, and engaging programs through partnerships with schools, community centers, and local organizations bringing Girl Scout experiences directly to the communities that need them most! The most requested program this year was The Science of Bubbles.

Launching in Fall 2026, a second Mobile Programming Van will expand this work throughout the region, offering My First Troop Meetings, badge-aligned workshops, STEM experiences, and community programs.

MARCH 2027

APRIL 2027

MAY 2027

AUGUST 2027

NOTES: Use this worksheet to make notes on things you want to do with your troop this year!

ActiveNet Basics

ActiveNet is the platform for GSNETX Members to access upcoming events, camps, and programs. ActiveNet is also the platform to reserve space at the DreamLabs for self-led or facilitated meetings.

All GSNETX Members have an ActiveNet account using the same email address that you use for MyGS. Go to www.gsnetx.org/events then click on Sign In in the top righthand corner. If you have not signed in before, you’ll just need to click reset password to get your account set up.

To Register for Events:

On the Activities tab, browse available programs such as DreamLab events, Program Partner events, workshops, weekend camping, and summer camps. You can filter options by location, age group, activity type, day of the week, date range, and more.

For details about an event, click its name. To register, click “Enroll Now.” If you’re not logged in, you’ll be prompted to sign in.

Note: If “Enroll Now” isn’t available, registration has either not opened yet or is already closed.

Simple Events

• Select the individual in your household to register.

• Answer any additional questions that appear.

• To register multiple people, click “Register another participant” instead of “Add to Cart.”

Note: If someone’s name is greyed out, they likely don’t meet the age requirements.

Complex Events

• Select the individual, then choose from available activity options.

• Follow prompts to select one or more activities per section.

• Click Next, complete any required details, then click “Add to Cart.”

Weekend Camping

One person can register for the entire group (often a troop leader or trained volunteer). Simply adjust the number of cabins or participants during registration.

Terms:

Households Households in ActiveNet function as both your personal Household and your Troop(s). So Leaders should be able to see themselves, their children, and their troop members as household members on their account.

Sleeps Indicates how many people can sleep in a cabin/tent etc. Quantity reserved is based on the number of cabins, not how many people. “Sleeps 8” helps indicate to you how many beds there are so you know how many cabins to reserve.

Package This is an ActiveNet term for a more complex event.

Now available!

Download the GSNETX ActiveNet app on iPhone and Android to check in, register, and reserve on the go!

ActiveNet Basics

To reserve a DreamLab space:

On the Reservations tab, select the experience you are interested in reserving. For GSNETX members, your member account associated with the email address you use to get into myGS should be a “Member Account” in the system so you can select Member Space Rental and get member pricing. Once selected, you can see the various spaces available. You can select the entire facility or specific rooms within the facilities.

Once you select a space, you will see more information about it including an availability calendar. In the top right corner, increase the number of participants you intend to have at your meeting and select the date from the drop down labeled “When?”. Most spaces are reservable by rental block, so there are set time increments available.

Once you click Proceed, you will be prompted to fill out some additional information regarding the reservation. This includes if you would like assistance with your curriculum for your event. The pricing for these upgrades are dependent on the number of participants for the reservation.

Spaces only need to be reserved by one individual in the household/troop. This is often the Troop Leader.

Once in the cart, you can add any discount codes or see details for each event you are registering each member of your household for in this transaction.

If you have any questions about your ‘households’ or any issues registering for events, reach out to customercare@gsnetx.org.
