In 2024, Girl Scouts of Nassau County remained unwavering in their commitment to the Girl Scout Promise. The Girl Scout Promise is more than just words our Girl Scouts say—it is a way of life and a set of ideals our Girl Scouts strive to uphold. Despite challenges, we persevered with our strategic plan, focusing on our dedication to being a visible leader, ensuring equitable access and belonging, providing volunteer support, and seeking revenue growth. These efforts strengthen our ability to deliver high-quality programming to the Nassau County community.
We remain dedicated to growing our membership and enhancing access to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. We will also continue to be innovative. In 2024, we launched our Volunteer In Program (VIP) program, offering short-term and impactful volunteer experiences that allow our Girl Scouts to interact with diverse volunteers beyond their troop experience.
We expanded our focus on wellness across our council and camp programming. Highlights in 2024 included hosting our first Mental Health Symposium and our first Community Summit for Elected and School Officials, and providing mental health first aid training for our Camp Blue Bay leadership team. We continued with our two signature fundraising events, the Legacy Award Brunch and Raise a Glass to GSNC, while adding our sweetest Girl Scout event, our first-ever 5K Race and Family Walk/Run, the Thin Mint Sprint.
Additionally, we continued to expand our volunteer resources and our program opportunities with new and existing program partners. Throughout this report, you will see the impact of our funders and program partners, allowing us to broaden our reach and diversify our program offerings.
We deeply appreciate the ongoing support from our donors, volunteers, and the community at large. Your contributions have been instrumental to our success, and we cannot do this work alone. We know supporting girls and youth is critical, especially during changing times, and we are truly grateful for your continued commitment.
In 2025, we will welcome a new board chair and Chief Volunteer Officer, who will bring fresh perspectives and ideas to the organization. As the outgoing Chief Volunteer Officer, I want to express my sincere gratitude for the dedication and hard work of Girl Scouts of Nassau County’s volunteers and staff. I look forward to the continued support from our community and GSNC's steadfast efforts to uphold its mission in 2025 and beyond.
