ACE: After School Care After School Care provides extended care for students in a nurturing, communityoriented setting. Emphasis is placed on the whole child with opportunities for social, emotional, physical, and academic development.

ACE: After School Care is offered on school days from school dismissal until close (6:00 p.m. on regular school days and 5:30 p.m. on half days). Families may register for full-time care or utilize drop-in care. Full Time Care Recommended for families who need care an average of 3-5 days per week LL - 8th Grades $975/semester (monthly payment plan of $195 in five installments available) Half-days included in cost Full-Time Care Policies: Advance registration and a minimum commitment of one semester is required to receive the full-time rate. Unfortunately, we are unable to apply the full-time rate to only select months.

Drop-In Care Recommended for families who need care on an as-needed basis LL - 8th Grades $20 per day on regular school days Drop-In Care Policies: Advanced registration is not required for drop-ins; however, it is strongly encouraged that families notify the Auxiliary Programs Office at ace@gslschool.org or 901-677-2245 ahead of time so we can expect the student. Drop-in charges are automatically applied to the account on file in UltraCamp at the end of the week. (Half-day preschool students may dropin from noon until school dismissal for an additional fee of $25/day).

ACE @ Play Packed with engaging programming, ACE @ Play provides students with a safe and fun environment on select days when students are off school.

Open to GSL students only, ACE @ Play offers holiday care with camp-style fun. We provide the same great care you are familiar with -- just with all new themes and big activities fit for a spectacular staycation! To ensure ample staffing and materials for maximum fun, spots are limited in each grade.

Parent-Teacher Conference Day Come join us in ACE as we celebrate winter! Play educational winter-themed games, create winter-themed arts and crafts, do science experiments, and so much more! Friday, January 26 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. $50 per student

Spring Break School might be out, but ACE has more fun planned. This week is all about the wilderness! Go on a “hike” across campus, create a takehome garden, and indulge in a dirt sundae! March 11 - 15 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. $50 per day or $225 for the week

Bridge Week Enjoy a week filled with fun in the sun! What better way to spend the week between school ending and summer starting than by playing with your friends on Lemaster, doing crafts in the classrooms, and having a blast?! May 28 - 31 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. $200 for the week or $50 per day

ACE @ Play Reminders Registration ACE @ Play is not included in the registration for After School Care. A separate advance registration for ACE @ Play is required. There is a $10 late registration fee that begins one week prior to the session. No registrations are possible within three days prior to the start of an ACE @ Play session. Drop-ins are not offered. Lunch & Snacks Students should bring two snacks and a lunch, as the cafeteria is not open for ACE @ Play. The use of room-temperature items, ice packs, and/or thermoses is recommended, as food cannot be microwaved or refrigerated.

Basketball Look-Ahead for Rising 5th and 6th-Grade Girls Look ahead to next year’s basketball season by working with Coach Allyson Campbell and your new 5th and 6th-grade teammates. All skill levels are welcome! Players will focus on the basketball fundamentals of dribbling, passing, shooting, and working as a team. Building Blocks Soccer Building Blocks Soccer is an outrageously fun soccer program with a curriculum that seamlessly integrates the building blocks of child development with early learning principles. Our youth preschool soccer program is designed to provide a holistic educational experience that fosters physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth and empowers our new and young players as they enter the world of soccer and sports. (There will be two groups of PK - JK. Group 1 will be from 3:00 - 3:30 p.m., and Group 2 will be from 3:45 4:15 p.m. You can register for your preferred time through UltraCamp as long as there is availability). Chess Club Knights Chess Club encourages problem-solving, fosters analytical skills, enhances critical thinking, and strengthens memory. Clay Hand-Building Learn to hand-make pottery with Mr. Adam and his team of artists from Seize the Clay! In this series of fun classes, kids will learn all of the excellent tips and tricks to sculpt unique pottery pieces. Kids will sculpt two pieces of pottery in classes 1 and 2, then paint their creations in classes 3 and 4. Past projects include flower pots, ice cream bowls, Picasso-inspired silly portrait plates, and animal figurines! Craft Creations Enhance hand-eye coordination and build levels of manual dexterity. Working with various materials, this class will teach students about color, shapes, textures, and how they work together to create art. Join us as we embrace our unique creativity. Crazy 8s Math Club Join Bedtime Mathʼs Crazy 8s, a totally new kind of math club where youʼll race across the country, pretend to be a firefighter, and more! Youʼll have a blast with mischief-making activities like Ninjas on the Run, Stuffed Animal Swing, and Toilet Paper Olympics. Creative Movement Preschool children explore new movements and enhance motor skills using introductory dance concepts and rhythms. Classes are based on the celebrated BrainDance by Anne Greene Gilbert, a playful approach that uses nursery rhymes, free improvisation, and movements that align with children’s cognitive development. This class requires special attire. Girls should wear leggings, comfortable clothing, and pink ballet slippers. Boys should wear comfortable clothing and black ballet slippers. Creative Painting, Drawing, and Sculpture! In this class, students will be introduced to a wide variety of art mediums and techniques such as painting, collage, watercolor, glue, drawing, Model Magic clay, and more! We’ll keep the class fun and engaging with a good mix of process-based and structured projects. Creativity Toolbox! Explore, learn, create! Learn the fundamentals of the creativity process with Ms. Rassoul and Mrs. Bencini. In this class, we will use art to explore many other subjects–like social studies, math, science, and literacy, just to name a few. This art-based class will include collective and individual projects throughout the four weeks! Dance Styles This class continues the BrainDance approach, introducing more complex movements and rhythms. Students are introduced to basic ballet positions and follow the structure of a ballet class. This class requires special attire. Girls should wear a pink leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet slippers. Boys should wear a white t-shirt, black shorts, and black ballet slippers. Glow Painting with a Twist Students can jam out to their favorite kid tunes while painting their favorite masterpiece, glow-in-the-dark style. We even pause for glow games and snacks to get loose and stay energized! GSL Cookie Baking & Decorating Class This course introduces the basic art of decorating cookies. Topics include familiarization with cookie decorating tools, bags, tips, and exploration into different styles of cookies. You will get to practice basic outlining, flooding, and decorative piping! Gymnastics Fun If your Luker loves to swing, jump, balance, and flip, this is the perfect class! Learn beginning skills, fun stretches, and aerobic warm-ups that are age-appropriate for boys and girls. Parent observation and awards day on the last day of class. Incredible, Edible Science! Get involved in some exciting and edible science experiments, such as making ice cream, fizzy lemonade, homemade rock candy, toothpick/gumdrop bridges, butter, and edible slime, just to name a few! You are able to register for specific classes on UltraCamp. If you would like to register for a specific experiment, refer to the dates available. Patrick Register, better known as Mr. Dragon, is a 6th degree black belt who has been teaching at GSL for over 25 years. The emphasis is on self-control, self-confidence, and self-defense. All students must have a uniform to participate. Uniforms can be purchased for $45 on UltraCamp. There will be a karate “show-off” on April 15 at 3:30 p.m. All parents are invited to attend. Kidokinetics Kidokinetics introduces your child to over 20 sports (including lacrosse, golf, basketball, bowling, and more) while also helping them build self-efficacy. Your child will further develop their gross and fine motor skills, become confident in their own abilities, increase their heart rate, and learn about their musculoskeletal anatomy - all while having fun! Complete fun, hands-on ultimate challenges and builds each week while strengthening critical thinking skills, sharpening creativity, and developing a love for all things STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math). Match-Point Tennis This program is designed specifically for children ages 5-12 and involves smaller-sized courts, shorter nets, kid-sized rackets, and softer, less bouncy balls. This allows kids to play on courts and with gear that is tailored to their size and strength, making the game a lot more playable and fun. Our goal is to introduce kids to tennis at an early age in a non-pressure, fun environment. Many fun games are part of the curriculum to keep kids engaged and learning. Students must bring their own racquets. Pete the Cat Book Club Good news, Pete the Cat fans! Now you can be a part of Pete’s adventures during this book club. Every month, read a new Pete the Cat book, then do an activity associated with the story. Create crafts, sing Pete’s groovy songs, and maybe even throw your own Perfect Pizza Party! Come join us for this fun Pete the Cat Book Club experience. Please note that this enrichment will take place over the course of four months and is not the standard consecutive weeks. Ready, Set, Create! Let your creative minds run free with Ms. Rassoul and Mrs. Bencini! In this class, the children will have all the tools their hearts desire to create beautiful and unique crafts. We will discuss and demonstrate the fundamental techniques of what makes art so special. We will explore the significance of textures, colors, lines, and shapes. Get ready to bring home some creative pieces of art to decorate your walls! Recorder Explorer Come learn to play the recorder, an instrument with hundreds of years of musical history! Students will explore how to play the recorder through songs, improvisation, and reading music notation. Each student will be provided a recorder, which they can keep at the end of the course. Memphis Boy and Girl Choir Established in 1988 and based at Grace-St. Luke’s Church since 2021, the Memphis Boy & Girl Choir (MBGC) offers a creative, unique opportunity for children to experience benefits that only choral music can provide. Choristers (training: 1st-2nd grade boys and girls; advanced: boys 3rd grade until voice change and girls 3rd-12th grade) will participate in weekly rehearsals and learn performance skills, music theory, history, and more for singing at seasonal concerts and occasional worship services. While all ACE: Enrichment offerings are exclusively for GSL-enrolled students only, participants in the MBGC include school-aged children from the broader Memphis community. This enrichment program supports academic excellence with individualized help for all types of learners through tailored tutoring services, small-group study sessions, and select workshops designed to hone in on a specific skill or concept.

One-on-One Tutoring Tutors are current and former GSL faculty/staff members with expertise in their teaching fields. Each tutoring session is 30 minutes or one hour in length. To register, please contact the tutor directly to ensure you are able to schedule a day, time, and frequency that works for your child or email ACE for a tutor recommendation. Luker Learning Lab Give your student a structured time and place to focus on homework assignments three days a week. Each learning lab is proctored by a GSL faculty member and consists of up to 10 students. In this small-group setting, students receive ample guidance from teachers who have expert knowledge of the curriculum.

Enrichment Policies Schedule Enrichment classes will not meet on school half days or holidays. No credit or refund will be given for students who are registered for more than one program on a particular day or time. It is the parents’ responsibility to ensure a student is not registered for overlapping classes. Prorated credits or refunds will not be given for student absences from enrichment classes. Dismissal Students attending an enrichment class will attend After School Care for no additional charge prior to the start of their enrichment class. However, students must be picked up immediately after the end of the enrichment class at the next designated carpool time. Otherwise, a $20 drop-in fee will apply to attend After School Care after the class. (See the Dismissal section to view the entire policy.) Registration Advance registration for enrichment classes is required. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis until three days prior to the start of the class or when spots have been filled. No registrations are possible within 24 hours prior to the start of the class. Online Policies In addition to GSL's Technology Acceptable Use Policy*, the following policies apply: The educational tools used during enrichment courses are chosen at the discretion of the camp instructor/vendor and may not coincide with the tools chosen by Grace-St. Luke’s. We ask that you cooperate with instructors/vendors in supplying your child with the software necessary to attend enrichment services, dependent on the course. *Available in the 2023-24 Parent/Student Handbook

ACE Policies All policies and procedures in GSL’s parent/student handbooks apply to ACE. The following are additional policies specific to ACE.

Registration GSL uses UltraCamp to manage all ACE registrations and billing activity. An UltraCamp account with a valid credit card on file is required to register for all ACE programs. Before registering, new families should: 1. Create an UltraCamp account 2. Add a credit card To register: 1. View upcoming sessions and select the offering your child is interested in attending 2. Proceed to checkout and pay the fee Program fees must be paid in full three days prior to the start of the program for a student to be enrolled. Registration closes three business days prior to the start of the program. Program dates, times, and locations can be found in UltraCamp or in the ACE brochure. ACE reserves the right to reschedule, modify, or cancel a program for reasons such as, but not exclusive to, insufficient enrollment or instructor illness. In the event of a cancellation by the school, a full credit will be issued to the student’s UltraCamp account. In the event of a cancellation by a family for After School Care or ACE @ Play, parents must email ace@gslschool.org five days prior to the start of the program in order to receive credit. If not cancelled before this time, no credit will be given. No prorated credits or refunds will be given for student absences from enrichment classes, regardless of advance notice.

Attendance Parents are asked to communicate with ACE regarding any change in your child’s attendance in ACE by calling the ACE office at 901-677-2245 or emailing ace@gslschool.org. If a student did not attend school on a given day, then he or she is not eligible to participate in ACE activities that afternoon. No prorated credits or refunds will be given for student absences. Students must be supervised on campus at all times. Therefore, an on-campus student not checked into another program will be required to attend After School Care. If not registered for Full-Time After School Care, a drop-in fee will apply.

Dismissal ACE offers staggered dismissal times that coincide with the end of enrichment classes. Families may pick up in the carpool line at these designated times of 4:30, 5:15, or 5:45 p.m. after their child's enrichment ends. On Wednesdays, families have an additional choice to pick up at 3:00 p.m. Parents may pick up outside these hours by calling the ACE office at 901-677-2245. Students who are not registered with aftercare, but attended for enrichment purposes must be picked up within fifteen minutes of their enrichment ending. For example, if the enrichment ends at 4:30 and the student(s) are not registered with ACE, they must be picked up by 4:45 or they will be charged as a drop-in. At the Preschool, parents should pull up to the red awning in the Miss Lee’s lot. Please be prepared to buckle your child in once he or she is brought to you. In Lower School, parents should pull up to the circle driveway. In Middle School, parents should pull up to the awning next to the middle school building on Lemaster Street. An ACE staff member will check your identification, then bring your child to you. Please be prepared to wait in your vehicle for a few minutes, as your child will need time to gather his or her items. Remain in your vehicle unless your child needs assistance getting into the vehicle and buckling. Parents with children in multiple divisions will need to go through each carpool line separately, so please plan accordingly. Students will only be released to an adult listed on the approved pick-up list. Parents may make arrangements for someone other than those listed to pick up a child by informing the ACE office in writing at ace@gslschool.org. Anyone picking up may be asked to show valid picture identification until the staff become familiar with them. Parents with students who walk home independently in After School Care should notify the ACE office in writing in advance and include the time when the student should depart campus.

Communication Program-wide information appears in the weekly eNews. Additionally, any changes to programs will be emailed to the parents of participants. Unless parents notify the Director of Auxiliary Programs in writing, families consent to the use, publication, and copyright by GSL of any material created by their child and of any photographs, video, and/or audio recordings in which their child may appear in programs or activities of GSL. Parents allow the usage of these materials in any of GSL’s publications and promotional materials, via print, radio, television, outdoor, internet, and social media. The foregoing consent shall extend beyond a child’s registration in this program.

Lunch & Snacks Students have an opportunity to eat a snack in After School Care. All students are required to bring a pre-packaged afternoon snack each day. Parents are encouraged to send snacks in easy to open containers that require minimal adult assistance. During ACE @ Play, students should bring two snacks and a lunch, as the cafeteria is not open for ACE @ Play. No food can be microwaved or refrigerated, so the use of room-temperature items, ice packs, and/or thermoses is recommended.

Discipline It is expected that every student utilizing ACE adhere to the school's procedures and standards of behavior, which are located in the handbook on GSL’s website. ACE reserves the right to dismiss any student from the program.

Electronics We strive to develop connections within our ACE community to help foster these connections, personal electronics such as cell phones and tablets are not allowed. Students will be allowed to use the office phone to contact a parent if needed, and parents are encouraged to call the office at 901-677-2245 if you need to contact your child. ACE staff may give permission for schoolowned tablets or laptops to be used during closely supervised homework times.

Illness Students who are experiencing symptoms of a communicable illness or disease will be separated from the group, and the parent will be contacted immediately and asked to make arrangements to pick up the student. Expedient action to pick up the student within the hour will be required for his or her own personal care. ACE will follow GSL’s protocols for any child who is experiencing symptoms.

Late Pick-Up A late pick-up fee of $5 per minute will be charged for any student whose parent is not waiting in the last carpool line promptly at closing time. Parents should inform the staff if they will be late by calling the office at 901-677-2245.
