Growing Gardeners Give your child the opportunity to develop a green thumb early in life! Children will learn about the elements necessary for growth and experience the life cycle of a plant by nurturing a plant from seed to sprout. Once the sprout gets strong enough, children will plant it into an outdoor pot so everyone can see the fruits of their hard work. Children will get their fingers dirty with this interactive class full of fun, learning and play!

HappyFeet Soccer HappyFeet uses nursery rhymes, songs, stories, and fun games with a soccer ball to maximize motor development in PK and JK students. In one HappyFeet class, students get hundreds of touches on the ball, building their confidence in basic techniques while preparing them to be leaders on and off the field.

Spanish with Señora Cynthia PK

Give your child a headstart on their language development with Spanish knowledge! Join Señora as she further explores Spanish vocabulary in this fun and interactive class. This class will focus on animals, food, weather and transportation.

Preschool Creative Art with The Art Project In this class, students will get to use a wide variety of art mediums and techniques painting, collage, watercolor, glue, drawing, Model Magic clay and more! We’ll do lots of process-based art and sensory play to let students explore their creativity.

New Ballet Ensemble: Ballet Following the structure of an introductory ballet class, students will progress to standing at the barre in very basic positions, with little "turn out." Although free movement (the opportunity to improvise) and "mapping the floor" are still important class components, remaining class time will be devoted to beginning barre work (facing the barre only) and beginning center work including skipping, chasse, gallop and ballet walks. Basic French terminology of dance will also be taught.

The instructing teacher will adapt the classroom lesson plan in order to meet the appropriate developmental standards for each age group. The younger ballet class (PK and JK) will spend less time at the barre and overall ballet structure will be less formal. The older class (SK-2nd) will spend more time at the barre and they will be introduced to a more formal instruction in regards to ballet technique.

Girls must wear a pink leotard, pink tights and ballet shoes. Boys must wear a white shirt, black shorts and black ballet shoes.

Tumbling Come join us for a chance to flip, tumble and twirl this semester, all while enhancing your flexibility and existing tumbling skills. Great for beginners or intermediate tumblers!

Students will have the opportunity to work on front, back and side tumbling, including power preps, cartwheels, roundoffs, limbers, walkovers and handsprings.

Tumblers should wear athletic attire with hair pulled back if needed.

Grades: Junior Kindergarten - 1st Dates: Fridays, January 17 - May 1 (12 Classes) *No class January 31, March 6, March 13, April 10 Time: 3:30 p.m. - 4:15 p.m.

Karate GSL Karate is a martial arts course with influences from Taekwondo, Kung fu and Karate.

Patrick Register, better known as Mr. Dragon, is a 6th degree black belt with over 30 years of teaching experience (over 25 at GSL). The emphasis is on self control, self confidence and self defense, giving students the knowledge and confidence to make good decisions both inside the classroom and out!

All students must have a uniform to participate. Uniforms can be purchased through the instructor for $45 made payable to Pat Register. New students should send payment in an envelope to the first class. Questions should be addressed to Pat at 901-486-7174.

Get into the holiday spirit with Miss Lee’s Sewing Club. Students will enjoy stitching projects centered around the holidays and summertime fun. Using preschool safe tools, boys and girls will learn new skills while strengthening fine motor skills. Students can sign up for the series or individual classes.

Sew Ready for Summer

It’s “sew” much fun! Each week, sewers will stitch up new projects that reflect their personal style and creativity while learning new skills. Projects include pillows, stuffed animals, bags, accessories and holiday-themed projects.

This class is for boys and girls!

Stitch up some summertime projects in this special Sewing Club session. Girls and boys will enjoy sewing accessories perfect for summertime fun all while working on concentration and fine motor skills!

SK Literacy Club This club is all about learning phonics and sight words through MOVEMENT! SK kids will run, jump and play their way to mastery of SK reading skills through hands-on and gross motor activities. Literacy Club provides a targeted focus on the most recent literacy skills taught in SK as well as the skills that the individual club members need to practice.

Junior STEM Lab 2.0 Grab your lab coat and soar into learning with our Junior STEM Lab Club. Each week, our preschool Junior STEM Lab incorporates a fun, hands-on approach to learning. Junior scientists will participate in weekly STEM challenges that range from coding robots, simple machines, exploring Legos, using microscopes and more. Add to your repertoire by competing in STEM challenges and Minute-to-Win-It games, as well as creating puzzles, puppets and art projects using craft sticks. Discover a whole variety of other imaginative hands-on craft stick activities involving science, math, reading, games and more!

Wednesday, February 12 - For the Love of GSL Show your appreciation for the important people in your life by creating gorgeous works of art to gift to those we love - just in time for Valentine’s Day! Wednesday, March 25 - Happy Meals Every year, Grace-St. Luke’s Episcopal Church provides 10,000 meals to our poor, elderly, disenfranchised and homeless neighbors through More Than a Meal. Spread some kindness and joy by helping facilitate donations to this signature GSL outreach program.

Escape GSL Put your super-sleuthing skills to the test during this movie-themed escape room. Your challenge is to escape from McClure Hall with your teammates within one hour by using your Disney and Pixar films knowledge to unscramble puzzles, uncover clues, and decipher codes and combinations. Can you beat the clock? *Students will be supervised the entirety of the activity. While the door will be locked, any student who wishes to discontinue the challenge will be allowed to leave.

Ninja Coding & Lego Club Collide Part 2 Do you have what it takes to become a Ninja coding master and expert Lego builder? If so, then join our “dojo” for an amazing mashup of building and coding…Coding Club meets Lego Club. Our Sensei will help young ninjas focus on coding and programming skills, teaching them how to link creativity to code, throughout a variety of challenges that will help learners gain confidence in coding, math, logic, and problem solving during the first six weeks of class. Girls Rock!

Girls Rock! is a self-confidence group that challenges girls to explore what makes them unique, learn about belonging and relationship building, and develop inner strength and positive self-images. This class combines upbeat music activities with reflective journaling and heartfelt discussion to help girls examine themselves. As a judgement-free, safe space, girls can share their personal experiences and learn useful tools to help them navigate life successfully.

Friendship Bracelets Prepare for warm weather ahead by creating your own beach-inspired accessories. Learn methods to weave friendship bracelets and create various other bracelets, anklets and necklaces using seed beads, shells, leather and more.

This class will cover basic jewelry-making and progress to more advanced techniques over four weeks. Come away with a couple of pieces to show off, along with the knowledge and skills to create more designs on your own!

Crazy Chemical Reactions Learn more about the amazing world of chemistry by exploring the difference between a physical change and a chemical reaction. This session will be a handson and minds-on experience where you are a true scientist. Complete several lab experiments that illustrate the characteristics of a chemical change, including color change, heat change and gas formation! After the completion of this two day course, you will be more confident in the science lab and more knowledgeable of the periodic table, as well as the interactions of chemicals.

Parkour: Mastering the Body Through the Mind Parkour, the art of advanced movement and body awareness, has been made popular in movies, video games and online. This class makes Parkour skills accessible to students by allowing experimentation in a safe, controlled setting. Parkour builds coordination and helps practitioners to find their true athletic potential.

As a group, students will have the opportunity to explore the GSL grounds in search of interesting architecture to interact with as they continue growing in their movement awareness. Mr. McCarver can be reached at 901-570-0395.

Middle School Study Hall Give your student a structured time and place to focus on academics. Study Hall meets on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. At 3:10 p.m., students meet in Lass Hall for a snack, then move to a middle school classroom for quiet, independent study. This class is proctored by a middle school teacher, so help is always nearby! At the conclusion of Study Hall, students may be picked up on Lemaster in front of the middle school red doors at 4:30 p.m. Students may also go to ACE: After School for an additional drop-in fee if they are not registered for ACE: After School full-time.

If an upcoming ACE @ Play date is not listed in UltraCamp, that means registration is closed. · Lunch & Snack: On ACE @ Play days, the cafeteria is not open. Students will need to bring a lunch and snack. This includes half days. · Late Pick-Up Fee: ACE @ Play closes promptly at 5:30 p.m. A late pick-up fee of $5 per minute applies for children in our care after 5:30 p.m.

ACE: Enrichment Policies

REGISTRATION UltraCamp is used to manage all registration and billing activity for ACE: Enrichment. An UltraCamp account with a card on file is required to register. Families new to UltraCamp will be taken through the process of creating a new user account.

Advanced registration is required for each ACE: Enrichment offering. Classes are filled on a firstcome, first-served basis. Registration will remain open until a class is full or until the day before a class begins. Please enroll early. Confirmation of ACE: Enrichment reservations will be sent via email. Class times, dates, and locations can be found on UltraCamp or in this brochure.

PAYMENT INFORMATION There are two options to pay for ACE: Enrichment classes: 1. Pay in full at the time of registration 2. Pay 50 percent at the time of registration; remaining balance must be paid in full three days before the class begins

Contact the Director of Auxiliary Programs, Amy Lee, at alee@gslschool.org to cancel an ACE: Enrichment class in advance. A minimum of seven days notice must be given to receive a refund. No refunds will be given for students who are registered for more than one activity on a particular day/time. It is the parent's responsibility to ensure a student is not registered for overlapping classes.

Enrichment classes will not meet on school half days or holidays.

Classes with insufficient enrollment are subject to cancellation with a full credit to a family's UltraCamp account. Advance notice will be provided to those registered.

The ACE office will not contact parents when a student is not in attendance.

No refund will be given for a student who chooses not to attend classes or activities.

ACE: After School

ACE: After School provides a fun and safe environment for students after school from 3-6 p.m. on full days (2:25-6 p.m. on Wednesdays) and 12-5:30 p.m. on half days.

REGISTRATION UltraCamp is used to manage all registration and billing activity for ACE: After School. An UltraCamp account with a card on file is required to register and to use the drop-in option at any time. Click here to create a new Ultracamp account. Once registered, a family is unable to change to the drop-in option until the following semeser.

Pay $180 a month from August 2019 - May 2020 (charged on the 15th of each month) *For LL & PK students only, 3- and 4-days/week options are available. Drop-In The drop-in option is available to any family interested in utilizing ACE: After School on an as-needed basis. The drop-in rate is $15 a day. Charges will be billed via UltraCamp between the 10th and 15th of the following month. For example, If a student uses the ACE: After School drop-in option on September 5, the charge will be billed between October 10-15.
