I nostri valori e i nostri desideri, in modo più o meno consapevole, si riflettono nella realizzazione degli ambienti che abitiamo.

Whether we’re aware of it or not our values and tastes go into shaping the spaces we live in. In our bathrooms we seek to combine basic needs for privacy and stillness with practicality and hygiene but also with personal choices of beauty.

Nei bagni delle nostre case cerchiamo di unire in modo armonico il desiderio di intimità e quiete con quelle imprescindibili di funzionalità e igiene, senza perdere di vista la nostra personale concezione del bello.

La linea GSI Color Elements, che desideriamo presentarvi in questa nuova edizione di Bathing, consente di esplorare nuove e inedite forme espressive: il nome deriva da sei nuove finiture smaltate opache realizzate per una serie di lavabi, piatti doccia, bidet e wc. Complementi pregiati e altamente personalizzabili. Ognuno di questi elementi in ceramica è in grado di trasformare il vostro bagno nell’espressione di un tratto della vostra personalità.

A warm, inviting retreat nestled in a stunning natural setting, a place where you can relax and take in the surrounding beauty, the lodge has everything you could wish for, from the world's highest Kelo sauna to fine gourmet dining to be savoured against a panoramic view. Architecture and furnishings remain pleasantly unobtrusive. They don’t distract from the main attraction: the scenery.

The first thing the eye notices are the massive logs of the Lodge’s outer walls: fine Kelo wood from virgin forests in the north of Finland, which is only harvested at the end of its 400 year life cycle.

The process of dehydration in the dry, cold polar climate results in a hardy wood that can withstand extreme temperatures as low as -50° C. Carpenters from Lapland’s Sami people, skilled in working with this wood, built the wooden structure while local craftsmen used stones from nearby quarries to create the imposing walls.

Per realizzare questa struttura, ultimata nel 2017, ci sono voluti dieci anni. Oggi il Mountain Lodge offre ai propri ospiti, sia in estate che in inverno, undici accoglienti suite arredate con stile e grande attenzione ai particolari. Ampie suite caratterizzate da un design sofisticato, ambienti in cui il legno e la pietra, nelle loro diverse tonalità e gradazioni cromatiche, regalano un’atmosfera calda e accogliente. Ogni camera, ça va sans dire, offre una vista mozzafiato sulle montagne circostanti.

Als erstes fallen die riesigen Baumstämme der Aussenwände der Lodge ins Auge: Edles Keloholz aus naturbelassenen Wäldern im Norden Finnlands, das erst am Ende seines Lebenszyklus von bis zu 400 Jahren gefällt wird. Durch die Dehydrierung im trockenkalten Polarklima entsteht ein sehr widerstandsfähiges Holz, das auch extreme Temperaturen von bis zu -50° C übersteht. Mit Kelo vertraute Schreiner aus Lappland, die zur Bevölkerungsgruppe der Sami gehören, haben die Holzstruktur gebaut, während Handwerker aus der Region mit Material aus einheimischen Steinbrüchen die eindrucksvollen Steinwände schufen.

Zehn Jahre, bis Ende 2017 hat es gedauert, bis alles fertig war. Heute hält die Mountain Lodge elf komfortable, äusserst gepflegt und raffiniert eingerichtete Suiten für ihre Gäste bereit. Im Winter wie im Sommer. Geräumige Zimmer und Suiten mit luxuriösem Design, in denen die Materialien Holz und Stein mit ihren verschiedenen Brauntönen und einem Hauch von Grau eine warme Atmosphäre schaffen. Und natürlich geniesst jedes Zimmer eine spektakuläre Aussicht auf die umliegenden Berge.

Ardesia is a naturally warm, almost black colour. Matt and elegant, a distinctive counterpoint in the traditionally white bathroom. Elegant like Chanel's little black dress but sometimes volcanic like a punk.

It subtly surprises our conventional perception by not reflecting light, but absorbing it, while bringing out the stylish lines of the ceramic element. Wc, bidet, washbasin or shower tray look even more refined in matt. The bathroom as a whole gains in elegance.

Is it to wash the babies in?

Voltaire was astonished when he couldn’t find a bidet in the bathroom of his luxurious new apartment in Geneva. In letters to friends in Paris, he gave free rein to his feelings of horror and ordered for several to be retrofitted. Like Voltaire back then, today’s bidet-using Southern Europeans may still think bidet-shy Northern Europeans are barbarians.
