To help every child reach their full potential, we guide them through The Shepherd’s Journey, a ten-year experience marked by milestones that have become part of our shared story and tradition.
One year, students become retailers in a holiday market. Later, they’re engineers building model race cars. Every step of the way, they’re learning, playing, and growing into confident, courageous learners.

Early Childhood is an important step on each child’s developmental path.
Good Shepherd takes a student-centered, experiential approach that promotes thinking, problem-solving, and (best of all) play. In this supportive, creative environment, everyday objects and concepts become tools for learning and self-discovery.

In first through fourth grades, students enjoy a balanced environment of academic excellence and experiential learning.
Lower School faculty allow plenty of time for play, movement, and collaboration while simultaneously introducing structured, focused study. Both the daily curriculum and special programs are designed to build confidence through teamwork and shared objectives.
Between building bridges from toothpicks, presenting poetry, and balancing checkbooks, middle schoolers are busy—constantly applying knowledge and skills to the real world.
Tweens also want agency. So, in our House System, they direct the entire experience, from student government to assisting with on-campus events.
Most importantly, they focus on being kids, free from the pressures of high school in a safe, supportive environment.

It’s hard to imagine a four-year-old in Pre-K as a fourteen-year-old freshman, let alone predict who they might become during that time. That’s why the Good Shepherd experience is centered around Grades Pre-K–8. These are critical developmental years. So, our curriculum is designed to reveal who they are.
Upon graduation, they emerge with a strong sense of self through a multitude of learning, service, and leadership opportunities.
Pre-K gives children the freedom to explore activities, uncover strengths, and find what’s important to them.
Lower School students become integral to campus life, with access to all the resources of a bigger school.
Rather than feeling “caught in the middle,” fifth through eighth graders become leaders and role models well before high school.
The immersive Spanish curriculum is an essential part of the GSES experience. When they reach high school, our students are typically eligible for advanced Spanish classes.

Classroom of the Earth (COE), our oneof-a-kind program that began in 1993, challenges kids in ways the traditional school environment can’t. Each year, beginning in Pre-K, we start taking students outside. As in, way outside—far from distractions, and miles beyond their comfort zones.
It all leads up to a nine-day camping adventure in Colorado, where eighth graders build confidence, practice resilience, rely on teamwork, and grow with friends.

The arts shape how we see, and share, the world.
Performing and visual arts help with fine motor skills, selfexpression, and self-confidence, along with critical thinking and problem-solving. Creativity is woven into every grade.

Only Good Shepherd offers SPARQ (Solving Problems, Asking Real-World Questions), a learning space where students apply the latest technology and other valuable tools to gain new skills, enhance their classwork, and spark curiosity through hands-on exploration.

Athletics are integral to the GSES experience—where fundamental skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship take center stage. Students learn that true success is measured in effort and determination rather than wins and losses. Through participation in nine Middle School sports, they build courage, Cougar pride, and the confidence to lead both on and off the field.

To grow with confidence in their own spirituality, students at GSES must feel comfortable enough to be vulnerable and inquisitive. For us, Chapel provides the framework for this exploration.
In Chapel, children will find a welcoming community based on Episcopal tradition that honors all beliefs and backgrounds.

Perhaps the one thing that most clearly sets Good Shepherd apart is the sense of community. Time and again, students, parents, faculty, staff, and alumni share their stories of a welcoming, supportive environment filled with genuine, caring people.
We take that as a good sign. And we invite you to experience it for yourselves.
We look forward to working with your family. Please reach out with any questions.
