Anyone can nominate a volunteer for a Board-Approved award. We encourage parents, girls, volunteers, council staff and community members to submit a nomination recognizing our amazing volunteers! Awards are presented at our Annual Meeting on April 22.

Leadership Programs for Girls
Teen Outdoor Leadership Program
The Outdoor Experience Team is very excited to announce the launch of our new Teen Outdoor Leadership Program (TOLP) for 2023! TOLP will expand our existing Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program from a summer camp experience to a year-round leadership development program. In addition to the summer CIT program, TOLP will offer a Teen Outdoor Leadership Summit in the spring, a Teen Outdoor Leadership Conference in the fall and monthly meetings to keep program members engaged and learning throughout the year!

Riding Instructor-in-Training
Volunteers are an integral piece to the Circle C Equestrian Center. Our most popular volunteer program is our Riding Instructor-in-Training program (also known as RIIT program) for girls 13 years and older. Adults with or without a horse background are also welcome to join the training program.

Program Aide
This GSCP2P-designed leadership course is required to complete the Program Aide Award. All girls 6th grade and above are invited to attend Program Aide training on their way to completing the steps of the Program Aide Award. This training involves learning to work with children and modifying activities for special needs and situations. You will put your new skills to the test with hands-on activities that will prepare you for real life situations working with younger girls at a troop, day camp, council and service unit event. Great for girls that want to take on new leadership roles and learn more about working with children!

Babysitter Boss
Our Babysitter Boss programs use the Safe Sitter course to prepare students in 6th grade and older to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings or babysitting. The instructor-led class is filled with fun games and role-playing exercises. Participants will learn Safety Skills, Childcare Skills, First Aid and Rescue Skills and Life and Business Skills. Great for older girls who want to start their own babysitting business or learn how to be responsible when looking after siblings and family members!

Girl Advisory Board
Girl Advisory Board Volunteers Needed: Do you like working with older girls ages 11-17 and consider yourself teen savvy? Do you want to help guide a group of older girls who will make a big difference in our council? Then apply today! GAB Advisors will work with staff members during the selection process and will also provide support and guidance to the GAB members throughout the year. They will oversee this amazing group of young ladies and play an important role by engaging and mentoring older Girl Scouts to be actively involved in the planning and implementation of council and service unit activities and events. The GAB Advisor provides the opportunity for Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors to confirm that council and service unit activities and events provide, support and promote the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

Girl Advisory Board Girl Participants Needed: Want to meet other girls from your council? Do you have ideas about events or programs you would like to see our council offer? Then the Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont Girl Advisory Board (GAB) is for you! As a part of GAB, you will provide input as to what you would like to see offered at our council. Trying to figure out if your idea fits into a Girl Scout Bronze, Silver or Gold Award project? Need some ideas? What if you hit a roadblock? What is sustainability or root cause? What's the difference between a service project and a Girl Scout Bronze, Silver or Gold Award project? These questions and other questions you may have will be answered during this lively forum. Gold Award Training
Take a deep dive into the Gold Award process at a required Girl Scout Gold Award Training. This is the perfect place to really dig into your Gold Award! Each training is facilitated by a GSCP2P staff member and designed to provide a hands-on experience for girls "Going Gold." We’ll take a look at steps 1-7 of the Gold Award process utilizing GoGold Online. We’ll help you understand what makes a Take Action project different from community service project. We’ll also talk about sustainability and tracking measurability- both critically important to Girl Scout Gold Award projects. We’ll tackle both of these topics, as well as establishing a global impact and much more. This Gold Award training is the necessary first step for Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors preparing to go Gold and is required before your project can be approved.

Silver Award Training

Leader Lounge
Get comfy, grab a drink and come dish! Join troop leaders from across the council as we make connections and have open discussion about all things Girl Scouts. Meet other troop leaders to brainstorm ideas, talk about challenges and share successes. Each month offers a new topic for discussion to help you grow your leadership skills. Camp License and Camp License Renewal
To enjoy a back-to-nature camping experience and/or to camp out at a noncouncil site at least one member of your troop needs to complete the Camp License. The Camp License consists of three pieces: Overnight License, Cook Out License and Tenting. This course is valuable for volunteers who work with troops and want to help them build independence by learning many useful outdoor skills. The license is valid for five years. First Aid/CPR
Be prepared to act when emergencies arise with your First Aid and CPR certification. This course includes personalized learning, interactive scenarios and hands-on skill practice. You will be prepared to provide care when it’s needed most. This course is open to Girl Scout Ambassadors (ages 16 and up) and all registered volunteers. Participants should bring a bag lunch and must be present for the entire course to receive certification. The certification is valid for two years.

Sign up your Girl Scout troop for a Horseback Riding program where their time will be split between riding and un-mounted badge themed activities. Select the best program for your troop and each girl will receive a badge or patch.

Private Riding Lessons
Private lessons make great gifts and are perfect for Girl Scouts who would like to try horseback riding to see if they are ready to enter a weekly lesson program or gain confidence before attending a horseback riding summer camp. The lesson will cover horse handling safety, grooming, tacking and riding. We teach a centered and balanced seat in English tack.

Beginner Rider Series
This four-lesson series (offered March 7, 14, 21 and 28 or April 4, 11, 18 and 25) is perfect for Girl Scouts who would like to try horseback riding to see if they are ready to enter a weekly lesson program or gain a solid foundation before attending a horseback riding summer camp. Lessons will cover horse handling safety, grooming, tacking and riding. We teach a centered and balanced seat in English tack. A horsemanship guide and achievement certificate are included.
