COSM Transcript Notation for Dean’s Recognition as a

Research Scholar

Do you have an outstanding undergraduate research student that deserves recognition for their

scholarly achievement? If so, encourage them to apply for the COSM Transcript Notation for

Dean’s Recognition as a Research Scholar. This transcript notation provides evidence that a

student has demonstrated excellence in scientific research and certifies that a student has

achieved proficiency in a set of research and scholarly benchmarks as outlined by the College.

To qualify, a student must:

  • Conduct research with a COSM faculty member for at least two semesters and earn a

  • total of at least three research credit hours;

  • Attend and present their research at a professional meeting; and

  • Prepare a written product (research thesis).

Applications must be submitted four weeks before graduation for the notation to be

recognized at graduation with a cord, but students can apply any time within six months after

graduation.
