TheBSBiomedicalSciencedegreeprogramproposalisscheduledtobeconsideredbytheBoard of Regents at the October meeting, while the PhD Material Science program proposal will be on theagendaforeithertheOctoberorNovembermeeting. Bothproposalshavethefullsupportof theGSadministrationandhavereceivedpositivefeedbacksofarfromtheUSG. Fingerscrossed forapositiveoutcome!!

Inthenewbudgetmodel, wehaveidentifiedsomefundstocoversummerGTAappointmentsfor COSM graduate students. The new funds will allow departments to provide summer GTA appointments without needing to reserve a portion of the COGS GTA allotments. It should allow for funding of additional GTA positions to offset the reduction from increasing the GTA funding levelsto$12,000forthisacademicyear.

The Teaching Excellence and Innovation working group will meet for the first time next week to begin efforts to create a program to recognize excellence and innovation in teaching The working group has a representative from each department and will be led by Sara Gremillion in herroleasanAdministrativeFellow

The 2nd Annual COSM Summer Research Showcase will be held on July 24, 2025. Please make planstoattendaswecontinuetoexpandontheopportunitiestocelebratetheresearcheffortsof ourfacultyandstudents.

We have initiated a search for Melissa Adams replacement in the Dean’s Office. During the transition,Melissacontinuestohelpuswithafewtasks.

Overall, we are getting a better picture of the COSM budget under this new model. We are still waiting for training in the new Workday Adaptive budgeting software to be able to better track our spending. I am very optimistic that the new budget model will put COSM in a position to be more strategicwithourmoneytoassistsupportingth

Ifyouhaveanyquestionsorconcerns,pleasefe
