Vertically Integrated Projects - Issue 7
The Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) Program is targeted to enhance high impact practices by engaging undergraduate students in long-term, large-scale, interdisciplinary project teams that are led by faculty. The student scholars will gain valuable research experience skills and academic credits and faculties will be able to scale up their research through the VIP framework. Students from various backgrounds, years or disciplines can join the VIP team and work with faculty members in their area of interest. The VIP program has been an established and evaluated program for more than 25+ years all around the world.
The key points for the VIP program are:
Work on faculty led, interdisciplinary teams tackling important and complex challenges on faculty advisor’s innovation projects and expertise.
Teams need students with diverse skills, interests, talents, and majors. You don’t have to already be an expert to join a team. Undergraduate participation for course credit over several semesters; and
Student Learning outcomes focused on the development of interdisciplinary and professional skills.
