Dear Girl Scout, The start of a new Girl Scout year is a time near to my heart. The donning of a new vest or sash, the butterflies you feel on the way to that first meeting, the smile of a volunteer, an old friend or new that greets you at the door. The promise of something great about to unfold - a friendship, a skill, memories that will last a lifetime. I can hardly wait to start this new adventure with you. See all we have in store throughout this program guide and I suspect you’ll be just as excited as I am!

The pandemic has put into perspective for me, and all of us here at Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay, how important our sisterhood is. Our connection to the Girl Scout Promise and Law has kept us focused on what really matters - each other. While we can’t thank you enough for sticking with us through the pause, it’s time to press play on exciting outdoor adventure, innovation through STEM and art, entrepreneurial skill-building and success, and so much more.

Hey, Girl Scouts! You know what the scientific method is all about, right? Just because something sounds good, doesn’t make it true. Good scientists investigate every hypothesis using the scientific method. They learn new things along the way, and may even end up changing their hypothesis or surprising themselves with their conclusions. We gave the scientific method a try at GSCB and here’s what we found:

Hypothesis Mobile programming options will engage more Girl Scouts than ever before, keep their curiosity peaked and interests growing, and give volunteers the opportunity to offer programming they may not be comfortable facilitating on their own!

Experiment GSCB launches our Program on the Move pilot in Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 at a variety of locations throughout our council footprint. We learned by doing, collected feedback from Girl Scouts, parents and volunteers and had a TON of fun!

Analyze Data & Draw Conclusions Program on the Move is a total SUCCESS! Let’s make it even better by allowing volunteers to schedule the time and place they want their Program on the Move visit and give them a variety of topics to choose from with their Girl Scouts!

GSCB Staff are standing by, ready to deliver engaging, hands-on programming to Girl Scouts, right at YOUR troop meeting! Our Program on the Move mobile programming registration opens Sept. 15th, 2021 for troops to begin securing spots after Oct. 1st, 2021.

What’s Different?

• Every Girl Scout who participates in a Program on the Move program will receive a FREE patch.

• Volunteers request the date, time and place of the program. Some limitations apply. GSCB Staff bring necessary materials and faciliate the activities.

• Volunteers/girls pick a topic from our program offerings, based on your troop/group’s interests or year plan.

Every event at camp will NOT be a sticker opportunity.

Stickers will only be given to Girl Scouts who register and are present at the event.

Volunteer Camp Getaway Weekends and Getaway Days Even dedicated Girl Scout volunteers need to get away sometimes. This spring, make time for YOU by joining us for a Volunteer Getaway Weekend or just for the day. There will be a variety of activities available such as boating, archery, crafts and more.
