Message from the CEO

As we focus on equipping our next generation of female leaders, we face a striking disparity in philanthropy. Less than 2% of charitable contributions are directed towards women's and girls' causes, despite clear evidence that such investments yield significant benefits for families and communities.

Supporting Girl Scouts means providing young women with the essential skills they need to navigate and excel in a complex world. By investing in our diverse programs from STEAM to leadership development you help us bridge crucial gaps in traditional education and foster a community of strong, capable young women. We encourage you to continue reviewing our

brochure to explore the various programs your generosity can support. Each contribution is a step toward breaking down barriers and creating opportunities that enable our girls to increase their potential and lead transformative lives.

Thank you for your continued support and belief in our mission to empower every girl to make a positive impact in the world.

Yours in Girl Scouting,

Our Council

The Girl Scouts of California's Central Coast (GSCCC) builds girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. Our commitment to providing enriching experiences ensures that girls can thrive today and in the future. The Girl Scout

Girl Scouts prepare for fun, friendship, and new adventures while making the world a better place.

Girl Scouts look at our world and take action to change it for the better. They make friends, challenge themselves with new experiences, write their own stories, and develop the skills and confidence to say,

“I know I can do this!”

Through a variety of activities, from STEAM to outdoors to entrepreneurship, Girl Scouts are given the opportunity to find what they love doing and harness the skills needed to succeed.

With the help of supportive adults and troop leaders, girls try new things, share their full selves, and see how good it feels to lead from the heart.

It's all part of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, and it’s what makes Girl Scouting a unique experience for girls.

Experience

Key

features of the Girl Scout Experience:

LEARNING BY DOING

Hands-on activities are fun for Girl Scouts of any age, but they also help them feel empowered to shape their own experience. Girl Scouts unlock their “I got this” attitude as they discover they can always dust themselves off and try again when things don’t go according to plan.

COOPERATIVE LEARNING

There’s power in having a tight-knit group of friends who will learn with you, grow with you, and always cheer you on. Girl Scouts see firsthand that teamwork, respect, and collaboration can fuel them through any challenge that comes their way.

GIRL-LED

Girl Scouts follow their own lead, no matter their age. From selecting the badges they’ll pursue to how they’ll organize an activity, Girl Scouts have the chance to follow their dreams and grow their skills and the confidence that comes with that.

Camp Arnaz

Camp Arnaz, nestled in the heart of Ventura County, is more than just a camping destination; it's a vibrant hub for education, community, and environmental stewardship. Each year, Camp Arnaz welcomes thousands of girls and community members, offering a diverse range of programs that foster personal growth, leadership skills, and a deep appreciation for nature. Time spent outdoors at Camp Arnaz significantly supports mental health, providing young girls with a serene environment to relax, reflect, and rejuvenate. Our camp features diverse activities, including equine programs, archery, axe-throwing, astronomy, robotics, and slingshots, each designed to engage and challenge participants. The camp is also home to a thriving Monarch Butterfly Conservation initiative, pollinator habitats, and a farm-to-table garden, all contributing to an immersive educational experience. Additionally, Camp Arnaz hosts special events open to the community, such as the Children's Health & Wellness Expo, Tent or Treat, the Food, Beer, and Wine Event, Winter Wonderland, and Days of Girl Scouting, which provides free programming to all girls through our Early Incentive program. Through these varied activities and events, Camp Arnaz not only nurtures future leaders but also promotes physical and mental well-being in a supportive, natural setting, enriching the lives of all who visit.

Mental Health Coping Skills

"Be a Better Who? Be a Better You!" This rallying cry summarizes the Girl Scouts of California's Central Coast's Early Bird Coping Skills Program, now in its second year. This multi-year initiative kicked off last year with an empowering Affirmation Program, where girls received cards that fostered self-confidence and positive self-talk. This year, we've built on that foundation by equipping Girl Scouts with coping skills essential for managing stress and enhancing emotional awareness. As we look ahead to next year, our focus will shift to Tolerance, aiming to deepen understanding and empathy among our young Girl Scouts. This progressive approach ensures that each year adds a new layer to their development, supporting not just their immediate mental well-being but also preparing them for lifelong resilience.

Workforce of the Future

The Girl Scouts of the USA is committed to preparing young women for the workforce of the future through diverse programs that focus on STEAM education, financial empowerment, and entrepreneurship. The organization offers STEAM exploration badges and activities that enable girls to engage with science, technology, engineering, art, and math in practical, career-oriented ways. These programs are designed to address the gender gap in STEAM fields and empower girls with the skills necessary for the increasingly tech-driven job market. Additionally, the iconic Girl Scout Cookie program provides hands-on business and entrepreneurial training, enhancing financial literacy and leadership skills. These initiatives collectively support girls in becoming confident, capable leaders equipped for diverse career paths.

Cyber Awareness Programs

The Cyber Awareness Program for Girl Scouts is a pivotal initiative aimed at equipping young girls with essential cyber skills, enhancing their knowledge, and boosting their confidence to succeed in a digitally-driven world. This program is not just about technical training; it encompasses a comprehensive educational approach that integrates cyber safety, mental health support, and resilience training against online threats like cyberbullying. This holistic curriculum is designed to empower participants to navigate the complexities of the digital landscape safely and with assurance.

Our program thrives on community support and collaboration, drawing on partnerships with legislators, law enforcement, and leading corporations to amplify its impact. These relationships facilitate a robust framework for mentorship, educational workshops, and hands-on experiences that inspire and prepare girls to become leaders in the cybersecurity field. By fostering an environment that values and encourages female participation in technology, the Cyber Awareness Program helps pave the way for future generations of women to break barriers and achieve significant success in cyber and beyond.

Girls Love the Outdoors

The "Girls Scouts Love State Parks" initiative is a dynamic, program designed in collaboration with the National Association of State Park Directors. This enriching program encourages Girl Scouts to engage with the natural world through a series of self-guided tours, family-friendly hikes, and exciting watersports activities. Participants also have the opportunity to explore the wonders of the night sky with stargazing events, adding an educational and aweinspiring element to their adventures.

The Girl Scouts Love the Outdoors Challenge is an engaging initiative designed to inspire Girl Scouts of all ages to connect with nature and embrace the adventure and learning that the outdoors offers. This challenge encourages participants to explore the diverse natural landscapes around them whether they're hiking through a local park, camping in a state forest, or simply observing wildlife in their own backyards.
