A NOTE FROM THE OUTGOING ATHLETIC DIRECTOR As I transition into a new role at Gill St. Bernard’s, a quick but sincere “thank you” to some folks who have made my ten years as your athletic director such an enjoyable and rewarding experience: Thank you to our faculty and staff for finding time at the end of their busy days to regularly attend our contests. Our students notice and appreciate the interest the faculty takes in their lives outside the classroom. Thank you to our extraordinary operations team. Tony and his guys keep our facilities in impeccable condition and are always receptive when we need their assistance… even at a moment’s notice! Thank you to our administration and board of trustees for recognizing the value that a high level athletic program brings to an independent school and for giving us the support and the resources that are necessary to maintain it. Thank you to our full-time Athletic Department staff, who devote countless hours behind the scenes to make sure that our student-athletes enjoy a positive experience. Most of their work goes unnoticed but it makes a huge difference. Thank you to the GSB Athletic Booster Club, a remarkable group of men and women who set aside sport-specific interests and agendas in order to help raise spirit and funding that benefit all of our teams and athletes. Thank you to the parents of our student-athletes for making the sacrifices necessary to support not only their own children, but their children’s teammates as well. Thank you to all of our coaches…an incredibly impressive group of roughly 45 talented and experienced professionals who have collectively established an athletic culture here that few thought was possible a short while ago. And of course, thank you to the student-athletes, past and present, who wear the GSB uniform. The championships and school records speak for themselves, but the way the students conduct themselves with honor, grace and class has made me most proud. For the last ten years, the best part of my professional day has been watching our kids compete. I hope you enjoy reading about the successes of our spring season and I look forward to seeing many of you at games, matches and races in the fall!
