Responding to the Call

When specific student needs arose during the past fiscal year, members of the GSA community came together to answer the call. Alumni, parents, businesses, and friends of the school donated nearly $30,000 to the GSA Fund to support these necessary giving initiatives.

Internet access for remote learning had been a challenge right from the start of the pandemic. During the last fiscal year, donors contributed $1,450 to ensure that students who had not previously had access to the internet could participate in classes from home. Despite the challenges posed by these unforeseen circumstances, the educational process continued, thanks to GSA’s generous supporters.

While the endowed Food For Thought Fund reduces the cost of lunches for many of our students each year, funding over and above the annual endowment allocation was required during the pandemic. To support the immediate needs of GSA families, $6,875 was raised for the distribution of food to the homes of students when they could not take part in meals at school.

Later in the school year, the need arose to establish an academic intervention program specifically geared toward students who had become disconnected from school during the remote learning period. To implement the intervention program, individuals and businesses contributed a total of $21,500 to the GSA Fund over the course of the last fiscal year.

When the support was needed the most, donors to the GSA Fund came through for students. The GSA Fund continues to be the reliable resource that provides a foundation for the areas of greatest need during each school year. Thank you to all of you who contribute to the GSA Fund annually. As the tradition of giving to our school moves forward, the collective impact of your participation is felt by each student who attends GSA.
