Students in Megan Flenniken’s Maine Environment and Marine Ecology classes took part in a fall field day at the UMaine Forest in October. They were introduced to the topics covered in the spring Maine Envirothon natural resource problem-solving competition: aquatics, wildlife biology, orienteering, soil science, and forest biology.

The goals of the trip, Megan said, were to learn, connect with other students and natural resource professionals, and see if there is interest in creating a competition team. “Students really enjoyed the day,” she said.
