Langbank Primary School

Right 2 Dance

Our amazing ‘Our Story’ project culminated with us welcoming the community into school to watch the whole school perform our dance. The dance told the story of Langbank and the fond memories people have of living here. We were very lucky, the weather stayed dry and the pupils put on a fabulous show.

Bridge of Weir Primary Something Old and Something New

Health Week

At the beginning of May our pupils participated in a fabulous range of activities to help promote health and wellbeing. We had visitors teaching skills such as pilates and taekwondo. The Ark on The Clyde brought animals and children had fruit tasting and a healthy reading café. It was a great week thoroughly enjoyed by all!

Fun Run

Health week also saw the return of our Fun Run. The children ran from the school to the park to raise funds for the school. They enjoyed a play in the park and a well deserved ice lolly.

Something Old

Our Primary 7 pupils have been attending Ardentinny Outdoor Education Centre near Dunoon for many years and it was wonderful to go back again with this year’s Primary 7’s.

They were lucky to have the most beautiful weather to enjoy the activities the centre offers. Night walks, search and rescue, gorge walking, rock hopping, canoeing, team challenges, climbing and abseiling just some of the fantastic things they experienced. These all help to build skills such as resilience, co-operation and endurance. Making beds, setting tables, and clearing up also added to these valuable life experiences. There was also time for a lot of fun in free time activities and the Thursday night disco! I’m sure everyone agrees that a few days away from devices and phones was beneficial and the time at Ardentinny helps our primary 7 pupils be more prepared for the next stage in their lives.

Something New

New Primary 1

We are very much looking forward to welcoming our new Primary 1 pupils in August. There are induction afternoons on the 15th and 16th of June. All parents should have received information regarding this. Please contact the school office if you require further information.

Birkmyre Women Free Rugby Fit Class

Wednesdays 7-8pm. Meet at Birkmyre Park. No experience necessary!

For the first time our school entered the electric car challenge and race. Over the last few months, our fabulous STEM club, led expertly by Mr Lowit and Miss Pieczara and helped by members of the local Rotary Club and Gryffe High pupils, built their very own electric car. Then on 4th May they made their way to the Fife Goblins Greenpower Electric Car Race. As newcomers to the race, surrounded by other more experienced schools, the team did not know how they would get on. They needn’t have worried ... all the preparations and practise paid off. They triumphed in the Drag Race, the Slalom and the Full Circuit Race to be crowned Champions of 2023! To say we were proud is an understatement!

Many thanks go to the Parent Council, Lithium, Hothouse Medical Ltd, Gryffe Rotary Club, Bridge of Weir Tenants and Residents Association and Bridge of Weir Leather Group who all supported and financed our ambition.

What a brilliant experience for everyone involved and a memory they will treasure for a long time.
