COSA É SMILE PROJECT
Un sorriso condiviso è un ponte tra le persone, un segno di fiducia, umanità e vicinanza. Costruire il futuro è al centro del nostro lavoro. Non ci limitiamo a sostenere il presente: investiamo in crescita, autonomia e inclusione affinché ognuno possa avere un domani ricco di possibilità. Immaginiamo un futuro in cui ogni persona possa crescere con dignità, ricevere il giusto sostegno e trovare la forza di camminare da sola. Ogni giorno ci impegniamo per aprire le porte dell’istruzione, della salute e della formazione, perché i semi piantati oggi diventino radici forti domani. Non offriamo semplicemente aiuto: costruiamo opportunità che trasformano la vita e restano nel tempo. Dal 2015 Smile Project ODV porta speranza in Eritrea, collaborando fianco a fianco con il governo locale per dare nuove opportunità a chi ne ha più bisogno. I nostri progetti sostengono bambini e giovani in difficoltà, giovani madri e persone con disabilità, offrendo loro spazi di accoglienza, educazione e inclusione. Costruiamo scuole e centri, forniamo materiali e macchinari, e ci impegniamo a garantire la manutenzione e l’autosufficienza delle strutture: perché ogni luogo diventi una casa sicura in cui crescere, imparare e costruire il proprio futuro.

We don't just support the present: we invest in growth, autonomy, and inclusion so that everyone can have a tomorrow full of possibilities. We imagine a future where every person can grow with dignity, receive the right support, and find the strength to walk on their own.
Every day, we strive to open the doors to education, health, and training, so that today's seedlings can become strong roots tomorrow. We don't just offer help: we build opportunities that transform lives and last over time. Since 2015, Smile Project ODV has been bringing hope to Eritrea, working side by side with the local government to give new opportunities to those who need them most. Our projects support children and young people in need, young mothers, and people with disabilities, offering them places of welcome, education, and inclusion. We build schools and centers, provide materials and equipment, and are committed to ensuring the maintenance and self-sufficiency of the facilities: so that every place becomes a safe home in which to grow, learn, and build one's future.

Il Smile Project nasce con un obiettivo semplice ma profondo: restituire il sorriso a chi lo ha perduto a causa di malformazioni, traumi o difficoltà di accesso alle cure mediche.
In Eritrea, un Paese ricco di storia e di resilienza ma segnato da sfide sanitarie importanti, questo progetto ha trovato terreno fertile. Troppo spesso, infatti, la mancanza di strutture adeguate e di personale specializzato priva molte persone – soprattutto bambini – della possibilità di ricevere cure tempestive. Con il Smile Project medici volontari, professionisti locali e organizzazioni umanitarie collaborano per offrire interventi chirurgici gratuiti, formazione al personale sanitario eritreo e programmi di sensibilizzazione rivolti alla popolazione. L’obiettivo non è solo curare, ma creare un percorso di autonomia: lasciare in Eritrea competenze, strumenti e speranza. Ogni volto che torna a sorridere racconta la forza di un incontro tra culture e la potenza della solidarietà. Non si tratta soltanto di sanità, ma di dignità: dare a un bambino la possibilità di vivere senza stigma, permettere a una madre di guardare il futuro con fiducia, restituire fiducia a una comunità intera. Il Smile Project ci ricorda che la salute non è un privilegio, ma un diritto universale. E che, unendo risorse e cuore, possiamo rendere concreta la promessa di un mondo in cui nessuno venga lasciato indietro.
The Smile Project was created with a simple but profound goal: to restore smiles to those who have lost them due to malformations, trauma, or difficulties in accessing medical care. In Eritrea, a country rich in history and resilience but marked by significant health challenges, this project has found fertile ground.
All too often, the lack of adequate facilities and specialized personnel deprives many people—especially children—of the opportunity to receive timely care. Through the Smile Project, volunteer doctors, local professionals, and humanitarian organizations work together to offer free surgery, training for Eritrean healthcare personnel, and awareness programs for the population. The goal is not only to treat, but to create a path to autonomy: to leave skills, tools, and hope in Eritrea. Every face that smiles again tells the story of the strength of an encounter between cultures and the power of solidarity. It is not just about healthcare, but about dignity: giving a child the chance to live without stigma, allowing a mother to look to the future with confidence, restoring trust to an entire community.
The Smile Project reminds us that health is not a privilege, but a universal right. And that by combining resources and compassion, we can make the promise of a world where no one is left behind a reality.
