Where does your passion for creating drinks come from?

I began working in a bar for the love of it but also because I needed to make a living. My other job is acting in films and on stage. With time they have become two passions and two parallel jobs, which I also happened to perform at the same time during the Bartendency show for Fox television, dedicated to cocktail blending in Italy.

What are the characteristics of this new Mexican restaurant, the Agaveria La Punta?

The Agaveria La Punta is a new Mexican-inspired restaurant-bar open from the morning to late at night. We aim at creating a restaurant that is as similar as possible to those we saw during our trips to Mexico. This is why we only serve authentic Mexican dishes and offer a wide selection of spirits, all made from agave, consequently the name Agaveria.

What instead defines the Jerry Thomas Speak Easy?

Its name comes from the first author of a manual on blending cocktails. A password is required to enter the restaurant, whose music, style and drinks draw inspiration from the early 20th century. In six years it has become one of the 50 best cocktail bars in the world and has entered this classification three times.

Why should someone come to dinner at La Punta?

To feel fully immersed in the true Mexican culture and enjoy real street food and over 350 spirits, from Mezcal to Tequila.

Alessandro Procoli is an actor, an expert bartender and co-owner of the Jerry Thomas Speak Easy. With a few partners of Freni e Frizioni, he has opened a Mexican restaurant in Trastevere, in Via di Santa Cecilia: the Agaveria La Punta 16 Roma | the Eternal City

Come è nata la passione di creare drink?

Ho iniziato a lavorare in un bar per passione ma anche per esigenza, per potermi mantenere. L’altro mio lavoro è l’attore di cinema e teatro, con il tempo sono diventate due passioni e due lavori paralleli che nell’ultimo anno si sono anche uniti in quanto ho condotto un programma su Fox “Bartendency” dedicato alla miscelazione in Italia.

Quali sono le caratteristiche di questo nuovo locale messicano, l’Agaveria La Punta?

Agaveria La Punta è un nuovo restaurant bar dedicato al Messico, aperto da mattina a notte fonda. La nostra ambizione è quella di creare un locale che sia il più simile possibile, come atmosfera e come offerta, a quelli che abbiamo visitato durante i nostri viaggi in Messico. Per questo, serviamo solo vera cucina messicana e una selezione ampissima di distillati tutti prodotti con l’Agave, da qui il nome di Agaveria.

Quali sono, invece, le caratteristiche del Jerry Thomas - Speak Easy?

E’ un locale che prende il nome del primo autore di un manuale di miscelazione e a cui si accede tramite una parola d’ordine e che per musica, stile e bevande riporta indietro ai primi del ‘900. In sei anni è diventato uno dei 50 migliori cocktail bar al mondo entrando per ben tre volte in questa classifica mondiale.

Un motivo per venire a cena a La Punta?

Immergersi nella vera cultura messicana. Poter assaggiare il vero cibo di strada e assaporare oltre 350 etichette, tra mezcal e tequila.

I was born in Pescara 54 years ago and three years ago I decided to start working on this project originating from my passion for fashion.

Following the principle that every woman deserves to wear the dress of her dreams, I decided to design unique garments in pursuit of a forgotten elegance.

This pursuit of beauty has rewarded my many sacrifices. I rely on the support of highly skilled designers, who are able to capture the essence of my ideas, and extraordinary local seamstresses and assistants, an intangible asset possessing the gift of embroidery learned from nuns in convents and handed down from one generation to another.

Tell us about your type of woman…

My protagonist is confidently seductive, glamorous, bold but gentle, a little bit retro, refined, sophisticated, provocative without ever overdoing it. Inspired by the fashion of the Thirties and Fifties, and by those dresses made of tulle, lace and silk, which emphasized the sensuality of women from the jet set, I intend to rediscover this sensuality, masked by the frenzy of our time.

What are your plans for the future?

In the medium term, I’m going focus on my creations. I’d like to open a showroom in Rome or Milan. I intend to enhance communication to reach customers directly. I’ll continue in my pursuit of beauty and high-quality and hope that my enthusiasm will reach the public. I’ll keep helping the less fortunate because there’s no greatness without humility.

Ci racconti la sua storia... .

Sono nata a Pescara 54 anni fa e da tre ho deciso di dedicarmi a questo progetto, nato dalla mia passione per la moda. Seguendo il diktat è che ogni donna merita di indossare un sogno, ho deciso di realizzare capi unici ed irripetibili all’insegna di un’eleganza dimenticata. La ricerca della bellezza è valsa i numerosi sacrifici fatti. Mi avvalgo del supporto di stilisti molto capaci, in grado di cogliere l’essenza del mio pensiero, e di straordinarie sarte e maestranze locali, un capitale intangibile con il dono del ricamo, imparato dalle suore nei conventi e tramandato da generazioni.

Com’è la sua donna..

La mia protagonista seduce con disinvoltura, è glamour, grintosa ma delicata, un pò retrò, raffinata, sofisticata, provocatoria senza mai eccedere. Ispirata dalla moda degli anni Trenta e Cinquanta e da quegli abiti di tulle, pizzi e sete, che sottolineavano la sensualità delle donne del jet set, intendo riscoprire questa sensualità, mascherata dalla frenesia del nostro tempo.

Che progetti ha per il futuro?

Nel medio termine penso a consolidare le mie creazioni. Mi piacerebbe aprire uno show room a Roma o Milano. Intendo potenziare la comunicazione per arrivare direttamente ai clienti. La mia ricerca del bello e ben fatto prosegue nella speranza che il mio entusiasmo arrivi al pubblico. Continuerò ad aiutare i meno fortunati perchè non c’e grandezza dove non c’e umiltà.

What does organising Made in Italy events mean?

Years ago we thought Made in Italy would have quickly become a worn-out concept. But as time went by we realised that Made in Italy really is successful and internationally it has achieved recognized high added value. Our craftsmanship and tailor-made creations, combined with culture and obsession with quality and details make us stand out from the crowd. That’s why today it makes more sense to talk about Made by Italians.

Which location would you like to add to your portfolio?

We’ve got our hearts set on a dream… and maybe the time is now ripe to make it come true: the Colosseum.

What is the secret to being always able to surprise?

Study. Work. And keep on studying. We are craftsmen of ephemerality, our creations last one night, but hundreds of people are involved in their production. Such as the gala dinner for a famous Italian fashion house on the Pincio terrace: 210 workers and 240 hours of preparation.

The world of event design is huge. Which type do you prefer?

Immersive experiences are our ‘jewel in the crown’. Not long ago we produced an event at Castel Sant’Angelo. The guests visited the monument surrounded by actors performing Puccini’s Tosca. Finally, the dinner on the Passetto, the passage that links Castel Sant’Angelo to Giampaolo Rossi, President and CEO the Vatican City, offered a breathtaking view over the city. of PalazziGas Events, a leading Italian company What is your motto? specialising in the design and production We make things happen.

Cosa significa organizzare un evento made in Italy?

Anni fa pensavamo che questa idea a un certo punto avrebbe stancato.

Con il passare del tempo ci siamo resi conto che il Made in Italy esiste e viene riconosciuto all’estero come un valore assoluto. Artigianalità, taylor made, cultura, ossessione per la qualità e i dettagli ci differenziano da qualunque altro player. Per questo oggi ha più senso parlare di “Made by Italians”.

Qual è la location che vorreste aggiungere al vostro portfolio?

Un sogno che abbiamo accarezzato più volte…forse i tempi sono maturi perché si realizzi: l’Anfiteatro Flavio.

Il segreto per non smettere mai di stupire?

Studiare. Lavorare. E continuare a studiare. Siamo artigiani dell’effimero, creiamo forme che durano una notte, ma per costruirle coinvolgiamo centinaia di persone. Come per il gala dinner sulla terrazza del Pincio realizzata per una nota Maison: 210 maestranze e 240 ore di allestimento.

Quello degli eventi è un mondo vasto. Quale tipologia prediligete?

Le immersive experience sono il nostro fiore all’occhiello. Di recente abbiamo prodotto un evento a Castel Sant’Angelo. Gli ospiti hanno visitato il monumento circondati da attori che interpretavano la Tosca di Puccini. Infine, la cena sul Passetto, il corridoio che collega il Castello allo Stato Vaticano, ha regalato un’incredibile vista sulla città.

My new collection “Monocle Eyewear” will definitely be a pleasant surprise.

I won’t say it because it won’t come true.

To be surrounded by mediocre people.

Sicuramente la mia nuova collezione “Monocle Eyewear”, sarà una piacevole sorpresa.

Un sogno?

Non lo dico, poi non si avvera.

Un incubo?

Essere circondato da gente mediocre.

Where did this passion come from?

I’ve always loved the world of fashion. I was born in Switzerland and 26 years ago I was fortunate enough to go study in London, at the Academy of Vidal Sasson, the quintessential hairstylist, the one who had changed the way hair had been cut. Before his times, a razor was used. Sasson introduced the use of scissors to cut hair.

Where do you get your inspiration for your hair cuts?

When I cut hair, I look for the shape that nature has designed for each one of us. I follow my instinct and disregard any trend. Hair fashions no longer exists. There is no specific ‘in’ cut. What matters is feeling good when you leave this salon.

Why the name Head Space?

I really wanted this place to become nourishment for the body and the mind. The name, which I registered two years ago, focuses precisely on space and mind. In the future, I’d like to create my personal line of products with this name.

How would you define this space?

It’s a concept store where we primarily deal with hair, but where my energy has always been directed towards whatever may stimulate others. I’ve always done a great deal of research, especially on organic and natural products that can benefit the health of hair and skin. We also sell Kusmi tea and several perfumes.

Giuseppe Paliotta is a hairstylist and has been the owner of a salon located behind Campo dei Fiori, in Piazza della Cancelleria, for 16 years. A place where customers feel truly pampered and gratified 24 Roma | the Eternal City

Come è nata questa passione?

Ho sempre amato il mondo della moda. Sono nato in Svizzera e 26 anni fa, ho avuto la fortuna di studiare, a Londra, all’Accademia di Vidal Sasson, lo stilista dei capelli per eccellenza, colui che ha cambiato il modo di tagliare i capelli. Prima di lui si usava il rasoio, con Sasson è nata la tecnica di tagliare i capelli con le forbici.

Dove trovi l’ispirazione per i tagli dei capelli?

Quando taglio i capelli cerco la forma che la natura ha pensato per ognuno di noi. Seguo il mio istinto e non guardo più nessuna tendenza. Ormai non ci sono più le mode sui capelli: va tutto e non va niente. Quello che conta è sentirsi bene con se stessi quando uno esce da questo spazio.

Perché il nome “Head Space”?

Per me era importante che questo luogo diventasse un nutrimento per il corpo e per la mente. Da qui il nome, che due anni fa ho depositato, che pone l’attenzione proprio sullo spazio e sulla mente. Con il tempo vorrei creare una mia linea di prodotti, con questo nome.

Come definisci questo spazio?

E’ un concept store dove in primis, ci occupiamo dei capelli, ma dove la mia energia è rivolta sempre a ciò che può stimolare le persone. Ho sempre fatto tanta ricerca, soprattutto sui prodotti e uso solo prodotti organici e naturali che riescono a dare il massimo per quanto riguarda la salute della cute e dei capelli. Inoltre teniamo i tè Kusmi e diversi profumi.

How did you begin?

I studied languages and specialized in journalism. So, my educational background is quite different, but I’ve always had the hobby of designing swimsuits. I surf and needed to have comfortable bathing suits. I didn’t want to worry about my biking, but focus on the sport and without having to give up feeling feminine. When I wore the swimsuits I designed, everyone would ask me what brand they were.

That’s when I decided to create my own line. It was an advantage that they were designed for my needs, and no one in Italy had yet thought of producing them.

What are the secrets of your success?

I tried to give my brand the right combination of comfort, casualness, and femininity. My objective is to dress women who love sports.

I have also won a competition for designers organized by the Regione Lazio, and this has allowed me to invest a lot more in my products.

I was able to create a website I really like; and I can use Lycra in the most specialized Italian industries, design my own patterns and have them printed on the material of my choice.

Why the name, Adalù?

I chose this name to honor my two grandmothers, Ada and Luciana, who passed on to me their passion for Italian, sartorial-quality craftsmanship.

Which is the most popular garment?

Fortunately I sell everything I make. My production is rather balanced.

In winter I sell leggins, long-sleeve wetsuits and hats, and bikinis in summer.

Come hai iniziato?

Ho studiato lingue e mi sono specializzata in giornalismo quindi ho fatto tutt’altri studi ma ho sempre coltivato l’hobby di disegnare costumi. Faccio surf e avevo l’esigenza di avere un capo comodo, che mi permettesse di non preoccuparmi del bikini ma dello sport senza però rinunciare a essere femminile. Da lì ho deciso di creare la mia linea.

Quali sono i segreti di questo successo?

Ho cercato di dare al mio marchio il giusto mix di comodità, sportività e femminilità. Il mio obiettivo è quello di vestire donne sportive.

Inoltre, ho vinto un bando per creativi, organizzato dalla Regione Lazio e questo mi ha permesso di investire molto di più sui miei prodotti. Ho potuto creare un sito che mi piacesse davvero, posso utilizzare la lycra delle migliori industrie italiane specializzate, disegnare le mie fantasie e farle realizzare sul materiale prescelto.

Perché questo nome?

Ho scelto Adalù per omaggiare le mie due nonne Ada e Luciana che mi hanno trasmesso la passione per l’alta qualità sartoriale italiana.

Qual è il capo che ha maggior successo?

Fortunatamente vendo tutto quello che faccio. E’ una produzione abbastanza bilanciata.

In inverno vendo i leggins, le mute manica lunga e i cappelli e in estate i bikini.

What would Rome be without Michelangelo? Would the dome of Saint Peter’s, the Sistine Chapel and the Capitoline Hill exist? Most likely not. In fact, many art historians believe he represents the apex of Western artistic expression on account of the direct and indirect influence that the masterpieces left in Rome by the solitary, introverted, tormented and quick-tempered genius from Florence had on generations of artists. Michelangelo first set foot in Rome in 1496, during the papacy of Alexander VI Borgia. A guest of an influential banker of Rome, the young artist carved for a French cardinal a sculpted group considered to be one of the finest ever realized in the history of sculpture: the Pietà (1497–90). Housed in the first chapel on the right as you enter Saint Peter’s Basilica, it is a masterpiece of absolute perfection – a miracle – which arouses admiration for the beauty and smoothness of the bodies, especially that of the dead Christ, held by an exquisite and very young Mary. The pose of Christ, cradled in his mother’s lap with one arm hanging down, is probably one of the most imitated in the history of art. Despite his success and the great honor received, young Michelangelo decided to return to Florence when he completed this work, as the project for another great masterpiece awaited him: the David for the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. It was Julius II della Rovere who called him back to Rome in 1506. Right from the beginning, their commissioner-artist relationship was as conflicting as it was extraordinary, considering the achieved results. Although he had been called to Rome to work on the pope’s tomb, in 1508 the pope himself ordered him to suspend this project and begin frescoing the ceiling of the Chapel built for Pope Sixtus and decorated in the 1480s with the stories of Christ and Moses by artists such as Botticelli, Ghirlandaio, Perugino and Signorelli.

Michelangelo, then thirty, was asked to decorate the vault (1080 sq.m.) with stories from the old testament. For four years, from 1408 to 1412, he worked unwillingly, but tirelessly and almost completely on his own, to accomplish that painting cycle which radically changed the universal history of art.

The scenes are divided by faux architectural elements and feature roughly three-hundred characters.

The Original Sin, the Universal Flood, the Creation of Eve and the Creation of Adam (one of the most reproduced and copied in the world) can be seen in the central part. Michelangelo arriva a Roma, per la prima volta, nel 1496, quando era pontefice papa Alessandro VI Borgia. Ospite di un potente banchiere romano, il giovane esegue per un Cardinale francese un gruppo scultoreo fra i più belli mai realizzati nella storia della scultura di tutti i tempi: la Pietà (1497-1499). Custodito nella prima cappella a destra della Basilica di san Pietro, il gruppo scultoreo è un capolavoro di assoluta perfezione, un miracolo, che desta ammirazione per la bellezza e la levigatezza dei corpi, soprattutto del Cristo morto sorretto da una bellissima e giovanissima Maria.

La posa del Cristo, adagiato sulle gambe della madre e con il braccio cadente, è probabilmente una delle più imitate nella storia dell’arte. Nonostante il successo e la gloria il giovane Michelangelo decise, alla fine dei lavori, di rientrare a Firenze, dove l’attendeva l’esecuzione di un altro grande capolavoro: il David per la Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore. Fu Giulio II della Rovere a richiamare Michelangelo a Roma nel 1506; da subito, il rapporto di committenza fu tanto conflittuale quanto straordinario per i risultati raggiunti. Se la chiamata a Roma era dovuta all’esecuzione del monumento funebre del papa, nel 1508, lo stesso pontefice gli ordina di interrompere i lavori e di affrescare la volta della Cappella che, fatta costruire da Sisto IV, era stata decorata negli anni ottanta del Quattrocento, con le storie di Cristo e di Mosè, da artisti come Botticelli, Ghirlandaio, Perugino e Signorelli. A Michelangelo, allora trentatreenne, viene chiesto di decorare la volta (1080 mq) con le storie dell’antico testamento. In quattro anni di lavoro, dal 1408 al 1412, di malavoglia e quasi completamente da solo, lavora instancabilmente per realizzare quel ciclo pittorico che ha mutato radicalmente la storia dell’arte universale. Le scene, divise da finte architetture, presentano circa trecento personaggi. Michelangelo arrived in Rome for the first time in 1496 as a guest of a powerful Roman banker. Working for a French cardinal, the young artist carried out a sculpture group among the most beautiful ever created in the history of sculpture: the PietĂ (1497-1499) 58 Roma | the Eternal City

depictions of the Prophets and the Sibyls. The chapel vault’s vastness still inspires awe and incredulity in the nearly-six-million visitors who come from all over the world to admire it.

Therefore, Michelangelo was initially called to Rome to realize the Tomb of Pope Julius II (1506–45).

An impressive project, suspended and modified several times, which he worked on for nearly forty years without ever finishing it. For this reason he referred to it as ‘the tragedy’ of his life. The tomb, in its final version, was installed in the church of San Pietro in Vincoli, where it can still be seen. The imposing and formidable figure of Moses occupies the central part. The religious leader of the Jews is seated and facing left. His gaze is threatening, his body mighty, one muscular arm resting on the stone tablets and his hands holding his long beard. The tomb is certainly among the most spectacular works Michelangelo bequeathed to Rome. Another sculpture of unreal beauty is the Christ inside the church of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva. Begun in 1515, it was installed in the church in 1521 while Michelangelo was in Florence, causing him to become infuriated on account of the “tamperings” he did not agree with. In 1534, Michelangelo was once again called to Rome by Clement VII – a sojourn which was to become permanent – to complete the decorations of the Sistine Chapel with the Final Judgment (1536–42). The gaze and pose of the Christ in the center of the wall are cautionary and he is surrounded by the blessed and the damned. The composition is one of the most complex ever created and features a multitude of naked bodies. Some of the more controversial nudity was painted over after Michelangelo’s death. The artist entrusted with this ‘unrewarding’ task was a pupil of the master himself, Daniele da Volterra, who was since then called Il Braghetonne, “the breeches-maker.” Lastly, Paul III Farnese commissioned the murals of his private chapel, the so-called Cappella Paolina (the Pauline Chapel, 1542–50). Michelangelo was asked to depict the story of the Conversion of Saul (father of the Church) and the Crucifixion of Saint Peter (bishop of the church of Rome). The maestro was seventy years-old and this was to be his last painting project. Since then and until his death in 1564 he devoted himself exclusively to architectural projects. But these and other works by the architect Michelangelo will be dealt with next time.

L’opera è sicuramente tra le più impressionati che Michelangelo ha lasciato in eredità a Roma. Altra scultura di bellezza irreale è il Cristo custodito nella Chiesa di santa Maria sopra Minerva. L’opera, iniziata nel 1515, durante il suo ritorno a Firenze, fu collocata nella chiesa nel 1521, suscitando l’ira di Michelangelo a causa di “manomissioni” a lui non gradite. Nel 1534 Michelangelo è chiamato nuovamente a Roma da Clemente VII - soggiorno che diverrà pressoché definitivo-, per completare la decorazione della Cappella Sistina con il Giudizio Universale (1536-1542). Il Cristo al centro della parete ha sguardo e posa ammonitrice ed è contornato da beati e dannati. La composizione, tra le più complesse mai realizzate, presenta una moltitudini di corpi nudi, tanto che, dopo la morte dell’artista, fu deciso di coprirne alcuni considerati più scabrosi con dei piccoli panneggi. Ad eseguire questo ‘ingrato” lavoro fu chiamato un allievo dello stesso Michelangelo, Daniele da Volterra, che, per tale ragione, fu soprannominato, da allora, il brachettone. A commissionare infine i murali della propria cappella privata fu Paolo III Farnese, per la cosiddetta Cappella Paolina (1542-1550). A Michelangelo fu chiesto di raffigurare la storia della Conversione di Saulo (padre della teologia) e del Martirio di San Pietro (vicario della chiesa di Roma).

L’opera, realizzata quando oramai Michelangelo era settantenne, è l’ultima pittorica del maestro; da allora e fino alla sua morte (1564), egli si dedicherà quasi esclusivamente a progetti architettonici, ma di questi e di altri lavori del Michelangelo architetto, ci occuperemo la prossima volta.

Piacere, Ettore Scola, is the theme of an exhibition that celebrates a journey into the private and professional life of the great Italian director, one of the central figures in the history of Italian cinema. Undoubtedly, a master of Italian comedy.

Ettore Scola (1931-2016) started his career thanks to his cartoonist skills, contributing to the humorous magazine Marc’Aurelio. Later he began writing screenplays for films like Un americano a Roma (1954), La grande guerra (1959) and Crimen (1960). His directorial debut came in 1964 with Se permette parliamo di donne starring Vittorio Gassman, who alongside Nino Manfredi and Marcello Mastroianni, would become one of Scola’s favourite actors. Jun Ichikawa is a 33-year-old Japanese artist who has been living in Rome since she was eight and has a passion for all forms of art: dance, theater, television, cinema and dubbing. Jun was born in a family of artists and has attended schools in Italy and in Japan.

She has learned to love the contrasts between the two cultures and grown to appreciate both. We will be seeing her in ‘L’allieva’ (The Student, t.n.), a television serial in six episodes, broadcast in prime time on Rai 1, from 27 September. Her hobby is kung-fu and she teaches Japanese to children and adults.

When did you begin cultivating this passion?

Ever since I was a little girl. I’ve always been surrounded by art at home and I began studying acting when I was 13 at Giuseppe Argirò’s theater school. When I was 19, Ermanno Olmi chose me for the main role in his film “Singing Behind Screens”. I learned from him that team spirit and working well together is the key to making a good film.

Which two adjectives would you choose to describe yourself?

I can say it better with a Japanese word, Omoiyari, which means to predict a person’s wish before they express it.

What is your relationship with Rome?

I adore it. When I was little, it was a love-hate relationship because I wasn’t familiar with the Italian culture and didn’t understand this contrast. But I have learned to accept it and even discovered many things the two cultures have in common. In both countries there is a passion for good food, nature, traveling and the care for others.

What do you miss about Japan when you are in Italy and viceversa?

About Japan I miss the cleanliness, the respect for silence and spaces and the aroma of tea and rice. Vice-versa, when I’m there, I miss the warmth of the Italians.

Do you have an unrealized dream?

I’d like to star in another important film, without having to play the role of the Japanese who speaks with an Asian accent.. In my private life, I would like to start a family with my fiancee.

Due aggettivi che la descrivono?

Che rapporto hai con Roma?

La adoro. Da piccola c’era un rapporto di amore e odio perché non conoscevo ancora la cultura italiana e non comprendevo questo contrasto. Oggi ho imparato ad accettarlo e ho scoperto anche molta vicinanza: in entrambi i Paesi c’è l’amore per il buon cibo, per la natura, per i viaggi e l’attenzione verso l’altro.

Cosa ti manca del Giappone quando sei in Italia e viceversa?

Del Giappone mi mancano la pulizia, il rispetto del silenzio e degli spazi oltre al profumo del tè e del riso. Viceversa, quando sono lì, mi manca dell’Italia il calore umano. In Giappone c’è una formalità immensa e quando ci salutiamo non esistono né baci né abbracci.

Un sogno nel cassetto?

Ne ho due. Professionalmente, mi piacerebbe fare un altro bel film da protagonista senza per forza essere la giapponese che parla con l’accento orientale, senza stereotipi. Nel privato mi piacerebbe cominciare a pensare a una famiglia, con il mio fidanzato.

Clara became famous due to the highly popular TV show for teenagers, Violetta, where she played Angie, the star’s aunt. It is not wellknown that Clara Alonso has Italian roots through her maternal great grandparents. After participating in the third edition of Notti sul ghiaccio and coming in third, she acted in Italian in the show Lontano da me where she played the fiancée of actor Mirko Trovato. We will soon see her at the cinema in the film Piuma, recently presented in Venice.

How did you start your career?

As a child I loved singing and dancing, so that’s where it began. I didn’t enjoy acting a lot in the beginning, but while studying it became the thing that drew me the most. In 2007, when I was 17 years old, I started working for Disney in Argentina and after a few years, the Violetta opportunity came along.

What ingredients made Violetta so popular among teenagers?

Above all the music, a universal language that is always unifying, but also the multi-culturalism of the actors involved. Another key element is the story that everyone can identify with.

What three adjectives describe you?

Positive, determined, and anxious.

What is your relationship with Rome?

Rome is fantastic. This year I spent more time here than in Argentina.

It is unique with its history and culture. While it is difficult to move around because it is so chaotic, the people are very nice and with every step you can enjoy looking at an incredible monument.

What are your other passions?

Besides the cinema and music, I love to travel and cook. I even hosted a cooking program called Angie e le ricette di Violetta (Angie and Violetta’s recipes).

What part of yourself do you like the most and which do you dislike?

The part of my personality that I like the most is my courage in taking risks. I am not afraid to jump into new opportunities, leaving certain things for the unknown. Nel 2007, quando avevo 17 anni ho iniziato lavorare per la Disney in Argentina e dopo un po’ di anni è nata l’opportunità di Violetta.

Cosa ha reso Violetta un fenomeno così amato dai teenagers?

La musica, in primis, che è un linguaggio universale che unisce sempre, ma anche il multiculturalismo degli attori che recitano. Altro elemento chiave è la storia che è di facile identificazione per tutti.

Tre aggettivi che ti contraddistinguono?

Positiva, determinata e ansiosa.

Che rapporto hai con Roma?

Roma è fantastica. Quest’anno sono stata più qui che in Argentina. È unica nel mondo, con la sua storia e la sua cultura. Certo è difficile negli spostamenti perché è molto caotica ma, di contro, le persone sono gentilissime e ad ogni passo gli occhi possono godere di qualche monumento incredibile.

Quali sono le altre tue passioni?

Oltre al cinema e alla musica, amo viaggiare e cucinare. Ho anche condotto un programma di cucina, Angie e le ricette di Violetta.

Qual è il lato che più ami di te e quello che più odi?

La parte del mio carattere che più amo è il coraggio di rischiare. Non ho paura di buttarmi verso nuove opportunità, lasciando le cose certe per l’ignoto. Invece, il lato che più odio è che sono troppo organizzata.

Mi piacerebbe lasciar scorrere gli eventi, invece la mia vita è sempre programmata e inoltre mi sento troppo dipendente da internet.

Fendi’s famous “doubleF” logo (one of Karl Lagerfeld’s brilliant ideas) actually stands for Fun Fur, as a tribute to the Roman fashion house’s high craftsmanship and skills in the haute-couture fur field. The company was born back in 1925, on Via del Plebiscito, in Rome.

It all began with a small shop selling leather goods, bags and suitcases, run by Edoardo and Adele Fendi.

They met with immediate success.

In 1932, the Fendis opened a new boutique on via Piave, offering a complete bag collection, called Selleria, entirely made by hand with artisanal techniques by local master saddlers and hand-finished with ton-sur-ton stitching as used on saddles. Between the late forties and early fifties, the couple’s five daughters, the so-called “five fingers of a hand”, joined the company, infusing it with new energy and ideas.

Let’s continue our tour of Rome’s historic parks by visiting Villa Pamphilj, the former countryside residence of the noble Roman Pamphilj family, which is located on the western foothills of the Janiculum hill.

It is now Rome’s largest public park, with a nine-kilometer perimeter over an area of 184 hectares. The park’s grounds have been extended over the centuries with the addition of neighboring farms and properties. It is a treasure of inestimable value from the landscape and naturalistic point of view.

The park features an extraordinary variety of natural environments, including landscaped gardens, woods, orchards, pinewoods and a number of exotic species brought from far-away countries.

In 1960, on the occasion of the Olympic Games and with the opening of Via Leone XIII, the road known as Olimpica, the villa was divided in two parts. The more modern Villa Nuova is located to the east, with its pars urbana, an area rich in monuments and historical finds, including buildings, fountains and gardens.

Located to the west is the original part of the villa, called Villa Vecchia, a wilder but more naturalistically interesting area, consisting of the pars fructuaria or pinewood and the pars rustica or farm.

Our tour starts at Porta San Pancrazio, as we walk through the Villa Nuova, which was built in 1644, when Giambattista Pamphilj was elected Pope Innocent X and clearly such a “humble” house was considered to be insufficient for the successor to St. Peter.

Si tratta del più grande parco di Roma, che ricopre una superficie di 184 ettari e con un perimetro di nove chilometri, ampliatosi nei secoli grazie alla continua acquisizione di vigne e terreni confinanti. Si tratta di un tesoro inestimabile dal punto di vista paesaggistico e naturalistico. Essa ospita infatti una straordinaria varietà di ambienti, tra cui giardini, boschi, aree da frutto e pinete con numerosi esemplari esotici, importati da terre lontane.

Nel 1960, in occasione delle Olimpiadi e l’apertura di Via Leone XIII, detta Olimpica, la Villa fu divisa in due parti. Ad est troviamo la più moderna Villa Nuova con la sua pars urbana, un settore ricco di monumenti e reperti storici tra cui edifici, fontane e giardini, mentre ad ovest la parte originaria della villa, detta Villa Vecchia, più selvaggia e naturalisticamente rilevante con la sua pars fructuaria o pineta ed una pars rustica o tenuta agricola.

A Renaissance Palazzo, designed at the end of the 15th century by an architect close to Leon Battista Alberti, with a fascinating and complex history, which treasures authentic masterpieces. A restoration project has just been completed, returning this building to the city and allowing us to rediscover a lovely garden, today the main route of entry to the Palazzo. A list of exhibitors in which you can see well-known names on the international scene, those who have a dialogue with the institutions and keep the art system alive and vital, through research and great discoveries. These are the ingredients of the International Antiques Bienniale of Rome 2016. Organised for the first time at the Palazzo Venezia in 1998 and now in its tenth edition, it has changed over the years so as to meet the tastes of the public, while maintaining the integrity of its own identity as a great showcase for collectors and the antiques market. Many are the novelties in the exhibits this year. For this edition Architect Giuliano Muzzi, who has staged them since 2014, has envisaged a unique area designed for meditation and exchange. A real metamorphosis in space design, from an exhibition to a museum, Un palazzo del Rinascimento, progettato allo scadere del XV secolo da un architetto vicino a Leon Battista Alberti, con una storia affascinante e complessa, che custodisce autentici capolavori. Roma, the city that taught the world how to collect and commission artistic wonders

The stands are no longer “destinations to be reached” but become areas of gathering and cultural exchange. A fluid itinerary, in which the public is totally immersed in Art. ‘Our purpose is to have a museum within a museum, and after all it’s so natural in a building so rich in history and art’ explains Biennale association vice President Marco Fabio Apolloni. ‘We want to remind Rome, before anyone else, of its identity as the undisputed centre for papal and princely collections, and the city that has taught the rest of the world how to collect and place the greatest wonders’. An exhibition that blends well with the world of Italian collectors, which as Cesare Lampronti, President of the Biennale, reminds us: ‘… is more emotional than the Anglo-Saxon one, which coldly favours origin to invention and pathos.’ The museum - currently directed by architect Sonia Martone treasures thousands of works of art, including authentic masterpieces, which will be displayed throughout the entire duration of the event. una visibilità massima ad ogni espositore. Un allestimento che ben si lega al mondo del collezionismo italiano che come ricorda Cesare Lampronti, Presidente della Biennale: “..è più emozionale rispetto a quello anglosassone che invece più freddamente predilige la provenienza rispetto all’invenzione e al pathos”.

Il museo, attualmente diretto dall’architetto Sonia Martone, custodisce alcune migliaia di opere d’arte, fra cui autentici capolavori, che restano visibili per l’intera durata della manifestazione.

Here are some of the highlights, beginning this autumn and comprising must-see classics, brilliant and entertaining new developments, avant-garde productions and a touch of international flair.

TEATRO DI ROMA Teatro di Roma operates in two locations: Teatro Argentina and Teatro India, with nearly one hundred shows spanning every genre, from consolidated classic prose to new artled dramas. During a series dedicated to Pier Paolo Pasolini, see Ragazzi di vita directed by Massimo Popolizio (October 26–November 20), Natale in casa Cupiello by Eduardo De Filippo, directed by Antonio Latella (December 20-January 4, 2017), Una casa di bambole (A Doll’s House) by Henrik Ibsen, directed by Andrée Ruth Shammah (February 7-19), and Faust, Li Meini’s Goethe-based exploration of the artistic languages of Peking opera, directed by Anna Peschke (March 7-12).

At Teatro India, among others: Storie dall’Odissea, a theatrical narrative in six episodes, a project by Giovanna Bozzolo and Eva Cantarella (November 15-27), We need money!, part-show, part-crowdfunding of Fanny & Alexander, directed by Luigi De Angelis, L’apparenza inganna, by Thomas Bernhard, directed by Federico Tiezzi (February 7-12), and John Murrell’s La divina Sarah from Memoirs of Sarah Bernhardt, with Anna Bonaiuto and Gianluigi Fogacci, directed by Marco Carniti (February 21-26).

SISTINA The curtain opens with Monica Guerritore playing the unforgettable Judy Garland in End of the Rainbow (from October 19), an entertaining yet tragic musical. On the heels of a winning season, Enrico Montesano returns with his tribute to Rome in the musical comedy Il Marchese del Grillo (from November 3). Next is Evita (from December 14), the new musical by Massimo Romeo Piparo, with Malika Ayane playing the Argentine heroine.

The many inscriptions in Hebrew are nearly all taken from the Scriptures and contribute to enhancing the sacredness of the temple. The Great Synagogue is a square-plan, two-story building topped with a large dome designed to be visible from any vantage point in the city. After visiting the Synagogue the ideal thing to do is wander through the nearby streets to discover the specialties of the many little shops. It is impossible not to stop at the Pasticceria Boccioni – an institution for the locals – to enjoy delectable croissants and tarts filled with jam or ricotta cheese, and at the old Urbani bakery to have a slice of pizza bianca.

The Portico of Octavia dates from the 2nd century BC and is one of the major sites in the Jewish quarter. The portico was home to Rome’s largest fish market from the fall of the Roman empire to the end of the 19th century. The portico and an annexed, deconsecrated church bear traces of this marketplace. Behind the Portico of Octavia stands the Theater of Marcellus, commonly called “the little Colosseum”.

They however differ in age (the Colosseum is 83 years older) and shape (the former is semi-circular and the latter round, like an amphitheater). The construction of the Theater of Marcellus was begun by Caesar and 124 Roma | the Eternal City

Non ha un ingresso libero e autonomo, ma si può visitare solo prendendo il biglietto per il museo Ebraico; la visita è sempre guidata e si devono rispettare certi orari. Il sabato che è il giorno interamente dedicato al culto. Le numerose scritte in ebraico sono quasi tutte tratte dalla Scrittura e contribuiscono a esaltare la sacralità della Sinagoga. Il Tempio Maggiore è un grande edificio di due piani a base quadrata, sormontato da una grossa cupola che doveva essere visibile da ogni punto panoramico della città.

Terminata la visita della sinagoga è bello perdersi per i sapori e gli odori delle botteghe ad essa circostanti. Non si può non entrare nella pasticceria “Boccioni”, che per la zona è un’istituzione, per gustare gli ottimi cornetti e le crostate di marmellata o di ricotta; e nell’antico forno “Urbani” per gustare un delizioso pezzo di pizza bianca.

Il Portico d’Ottavia, risalente al II secolo a.C. è uno dei monumenti di maggior interesse del ghetto. Quest’area - dalla caduta dell’Impero Romano fino all’Ottocento – è stata la sede del più importante mercato ittico capitolino e, sulle rovine del Portico, restano visibile il resto del grande mercato del pesce e di una chiesa, oggi sconsacrata. Alle spalle del Portico d’Ottavia è visibile il Teatro Marcello, comunemente chiamato il “piccolo Colosseo” dal quale si differenzia perché fu costruito 83 anni dopo e poiché il Teatro Marcello ha una struttura semicircolare mentre quella del

Castelli Romani brings to mind excursions outside of the city to discover historic villas surrounded by nature along with delicious food to be enjoyed in the fraschette (typical local taverns) and pubs in hidden villages. In fact, the Castelli Romani are small towns south of Rome in the Alban Hills area surrounded by two lakes of volcanic origin. They include 17 municipalities with the largest being: Albano, Ariccia, Marino, Frascati, Genzano, Grottaferrata, Rocca di Papa, Rocca Priora, Monte Porzio Catone, Castel Gandolfo, Nemi, and Velletri.

Besides the ancient villas, archeological remains, breathtaking panoramas, and trails around the two lakes, the Castelli Romani are also known for the wholesomeness of their cuisine and the white wine that is produced in the area.

Throughout the entire area you will find not only Michelinstarred restaurants like Antonello Colonna’s in Labico but also the famous fraschette, which are characteristic taverns many times converted old wine cellars, where you can taste wine, olives, cheese, cold cuts, pork roast, and typical Roman dishes at a reasonable price. During the autumn there are fabulous festivals that are worth visiting in order to taste the best that this area has to offer. A few of the finest are the Marino grape festival held the first weekend in October, the chestnut festival the third weekend of the same month in Rocca di Papa, and the polenta festival in Lariano at the end of November.

The villa sits on a hill and overlooks the entry to the town in all its grandeur. It was first owned by the Colonna family, then the Farnese family, and then the Apostolic Camera and owes its current appearance to Pope Clement VIII

Take a pleasant walk down Corso Vittorio Emanuele and taste some of the strawberries cultivated in the area and used to make fantastic desserts.

Ariccia Ariccia is located along the Appian Way, halfway between Albano Lake and Nemi. It is known for the monumental Ariccia Bridge, one of the most important engineering works of the 19th century. The current town grew up around the original Medieval village built on a rocky outcrop overlooking the wooded Ariccia Valley.

Castel Gandolfo Castel Gandolfo is known as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

Lake Albano, also know as Castel Gandolfo Lake, peeps around the street corners, creating truly picturesque scenery.

The Pontifical Palace in the main square has been the Pope’s summer residence since 1600. The Castle, owned by the Gandolfi family and then the Savelli family in the middle ages, was transferred to the Apostolic Camera in 1596. Since that time, many Popes have spent time at Castel Gandolfo, especially during the summer.

When the season allows, take a nice dip in the lake and stop at one of the many restaurants in town. Two of the best are the ancient Pagnanelli restaurant and the Grottino.

The two-floor villa was built in 1941 by architect Eugenio Geraldi (or by Eugenio Gualdi, according to other sources). It was named after a small river that has been flowing through this area from the Alban Hills into the Tiber river since ancient Imperial Roman times. The villa’s style was evidently inspired by the Roman tradition: the use of red bricks, the vestibule decorated with marbles, the Pompeian-style hall and portico leading to the Villa’s park. The garden recalls the parks of ancient Roman palaces. Located on the ground floor is a large guest room and a spacious Venetian-style dining room, decorated with paintings from the Bruecke Museum of Berlin, where events and conferences are usually held. In the place where Germany and Italy meet, we had the pleasure of interviewing the Ambassador.

Where do you usually take your special guests in Rome?

There are so many amazing things to see in Rome that it is quite difficult to recommend something in particular. However, there are some walks I enjoy taking with my guests. For instance, over the weekend, the route from the Farmers’ Market at the Circus Maximus (where I always buy groceries) through Via di San Teodoro to the Capitoline Museums. The terrace behind the Capitoline Hill offers a spectacular view of the Imperial Fora. I also enjoy walking from the Villa Borghese park to Piazza del Popolo. Another must-see is the Non-Catholic Cemetery, the most beautiful of cemeteries, in my opinion.

What do you like about Rome? Is there some special place where you enjoy taking “refuge”?

Rome is a wonderful city. I would love to “take refuge” at Villa Medici or on the terraces of the Bibliotheca Hertziana and Palazzo Farnese, which is the residence of my extraordinary colleague, the ambassador of France.

Your mother served as mayor of Bacharach, Germany, for over 15 years.

Un itinerario segreto dove porta i suoi ospiti speciali?

Vi sono così tante cose assolutamente da vedere a Roma che è difficile consigliare un itinerario segreto. Ci sono però alcune passeggiate che io faccio molto volentieri con i miei ospiti, ad esempio nel week-end il percorso dal Mercato di Campagna Amica al Circo Massimo (dove faccio sempre la spesa) attraverso la via di San Teodoro fino ai Musei Capitolini. Dalla terrazza alle spalle del Campidoglio si ha una vista spettacolare sui Fori. Mi piace molto anche la passeggiata attraverso il parco di Villa Borghese fino a Piazza del Popolo. Da non perdere una visita del Cimitero acattolico, per me il cimitero più bello in assoluto.

Cosa le piace di Roma? Ha un luogo dove ama rifugiarsi?

Roma è una città meravigliosa. Se potessi, mi rifugerei a Villa Medici oppure sulla terrazza della Bibliotheca Hertziana o su quella di Palazzo Farnese, la residenza della mia eccezionale collega francese.

The essence of this concept, that is much more than a boutique, comes from its two owners, Paolo and Stefano. This is how our meeting went with Paolo Vasi, the creative soul of Blend Roma.

Blend, a gallery boutique with an exclusive heart. How did it come about?

I was pretty familiar with Rome even before I arrived in 2009. I was surprised by the fact that such a varied and multifaceted city had no alternative to the many antique dealers or classic shops offering contemporary furnishings. So I thought to fill this gap, attempting something new in the furnishing and decorating world using my twenty years of fashion experience.

The name was not chosen merely by chance. The gallery’s philosophy is to mix, combine, and give consistency to materials, styles, colours, and shapes.

The pieces are not chosen using absolute rules but rather by instinct, taste, and the desire to present unique and singular items. We collaborate with craftsmen for custom items and with skilled restorers whose work transforms pieces to incorporate the new into the pre-existing. When setting up galleries, we must find a way to create an exchange between the elements and their diversity. Nothing is an end in itself but everything is always distinguished in a well-defined environment. Our idea is to harmonically blend contrasting materials, styles, and eras.

What pieces do you feel the most connected to?

Un rifugio dei sensi, luogo di sogni divenuti oggetti di arredo che vivono di passato, presente e futuro. In via Margutta al numero 55 Blend Roma è una “Galleria di pezzi unici” dove la casa assume il suo ruolo di protagonista. Un concetto, molto più di una boutique, la cui essenza si ritrova nei due proprietari, Paolo Vasi e Stefano De Paola. Nasce così il nostro incontro con Paolo, anima creativa di Blend Roma.

Blend, una boutique galleria dal cuore esclusivo. La sua nascita?

Conoscevo Roma abbastanza bene anche prima del mio arrivo, nel 2009. Ero sorpreso del fatto che in una città tanto varia ed eterogenea mancasse una proposta alternativa ai tanti antiquari o ai classici negozi che propongono arredi contemporanei.

Ho quindi pensato di colmare questa lacuna, tentando qualcosa di nuovo nell’ambito dell’arredamento e della decorazione e portando con me l’esperienza maturata in più di venti anni nella moda.

Design, arredamento e allure d’altri tempi. Ci accompagni dentro il meraviglioso mondo firmato Blend.

La scelta del nome non è stata casuale: si tratta di miscelare, amalgamare e dare coerenza a materiali, stili, colori e forme trasversali è alla base della filosofia della galleria.

La selezione dei pezzi non è dettata da regole assolute, ma principalmente da istinto, gusto e dalla volontà di presentare cose uniche ed irripetibili. Collaboriamo con artigiani per realizzazioni ad hoc e con abili restauratori, il cui lavoro si trasforma in rivisitazione, nell’ incorporare il nuovo al preesistente.

Negli allestimenti della galleria è importante trovare il modo di fare dialogare ogni elemento nella sua diversità: nulla è mai fine a se stesso, ma tutto è sempre calato in un ambiente ben delineato. La nostra idea è quella di fondere armonicamente materiali stili ed epoche contrastanti.

Villa Doria Pamphilj at Gianicolo on autumn mornings: twenty minutes running is a panacea for more than just the body; a slice of ricotta and sour cherry cake at the Boccione del Ghetto pastry shop; and the Celio churches, not well known outside of the traditional tourist haunts. are some of the more tangible and striking examples of the thousands of layers in this city, Each one of them shows the willingness to recover and re-interpret the past, which is quite similar to my work. Then there’s my favourite museum, the National Modern Art Gallery; the wine merchant in Via Monte della Farina that is unique and where you can meet a truly wideranging variety of people over a glass of wine before dinner; and finally the Sacher cinema in Trastevere, a destination for those who love art films.

What is absolutely essential in your ideal home?

A large open bookcase and the sound of water: the sea, laguna, or one of the many fountains in Rome.

Project for the future?

The past year was technically very intense, demanding, and full of changes that coincided with my partner Stefano starting to manage the gallery. Now I would like to dedicate some time to redefining the exhibition areas. I would like to restore a large window, now hidden in a warehouse, that overlooks one of the most beautiful courtyards in Via Margutta.

Villa Doria Pamphilj al Gianicolo nelle mattine d’autunno: venti minuti di corsa diventano un toccasana non solo per il fisico, una fetta di torta ricotta e visciole alla pasticceria Boccione del Ghetto, le chiese del Celio, poco conosciute e fuori dai tradizionali percorsi turistici, sono l’esempio più tangibile ed eclatante della millenaria stratificazione della città: in ognuna di esse si legge la volontà di recuperare e reinterpretare il passato, che è piuttosto affine al senso del mio lavoro. E poi il mio museo preferito: la Galleria Nazionale di Arte Moderna, che sotto la nuova direzione promette di tornare ai fasti dei tempi passati, il vinaio di via Monte della Farina: unico nel suo genere, dove si può incontrare, per un bicchiere di vino prima di cena, un pubblico veramente trasversale e infine il cinema Sacher a Trastevere, meta sicura per gli amanti del cinema d’autore.

La sua casa ideale, che cosa non dovrebbe mai mancare?

Una grande libreria a vista ed il rumore dell’acqua: del mare, della laguna o di una delle tante fontane di Roma Progetti per il futuro?

Ho trascorso un anno tecnicamente molto intenso, impegnativo e denso di cambiamenti, che è coinciso con l’ingresso nella gestione della galleria del mio socio Stefano ed ora vorrei dedicare del tempo per ridefinire gli spazi espositivi: mi piacerebbe ripristinare una grande vetrata, per ora nascosta in un magazzino, che si affaccia su uno dei più bei cortili di via Margutta.

100 years of Picasso Cento anni di Picasso

And so it was for Pablo Picasso, who visited the capital for the first time in 1917, staying three months at the Hotel de Russie. Since its opening, the hotel has dedicated a suite to the artist, the Picasso suite, an elegant apartment, recently renovated by Rocco Forte Hotels’ Director of Design, Olga Polizzi, with a large private terrace overlooking the hotel’s garden, a green oasis in the heart of Rome. A unique window on the city, it’s decorated with antique furniture and furnishings alongside touches that recall, with impeccable taste, the artist’s genius such as lithographs and prints that reproduce his designs, including his famous portrait of Dora Maar. A private bar and small library with a desk round out what is more of a relaxing luxury retreat than a simple suite.

After one hundred years since Picasso’s arrival, and the dedication of one of its “Forte Suites”, Hotel de Russie has decided to pay homage once again by celebrating this anniversary with an offer for guests to discover the unique places the painter explored during his stay. It’s a new way to experience the wonders of Rome, making a day spent in one of the most beautiful cities in the world even more special.

Una finestra unica sulla città, decorata con mobili e arredi antichi a cui sono stati aggiunti con gusto alcuni tocchi che richiamano il genio dell’artista, come litografie e stampe che ne riproducono i disegni, tra cui il famosissimo ritratto di Dora Maar seduta. Infine, un angolo bar privato e una libreria con una piccola scrivania completano quella che più che una suite è un raffinato microcosmo di relax.

Sono trascorsi cento anni dall’arrivo di Picasso e dopo avergli dedicato una delle sue “Forte Suites”, l’Hotel de Russie gli rende ancora una volta omaggio, festeggiando questo anniversario con un’offerta grazie alla quale gli ospiti potranno scoprire i luoghi frequentati dal pittore e l’atmosfera unica che lo circondò durante il suo soggiorno. Unique experiences at the Hotel de Russie to celebrate 100 years since Pablo Picasso’s visit

Picasso was in Rome with poet and friend Jean Cocteau to stage the world’s first Cubist ballet. “We live in an earthly paradise” – he recounted, speaking about the two adjoining rooms in which they stayed – “we take the oranges from the window and the sun that floods the furniture with the satin blue of the sky.” Hotel de Russie is a luxurious place from which to enjoy Rome and a city so rich in history and beauty, a soul as sensitive as Picasso’s could never leave indifferent. Between visits to the Colosseum, the Villa Medici and the Vatican, he soon found his own space in Via Margutta, within walking distance of the hotel, which he used as a studio, effectively making himself an integral part of the vibrant Roman art scene.

The first Picasso experience designed to celebrate this anniversary (valid for two people until November 19, 2016 and subject to availability) includes a minimum stay of three nights in one of the hotel’s elegant rooms, a continental buffet breakfast, the opportunity to upgrade and an original gift inspired by Picasso.

But that’s just the beginning. Another experience inspired by the Spanish painter remains to be discovered and will be available in early 2017. delle città più belle al mondo.

D’altra parte, l’Hotel de Russie è un luogo privilegiato da cui godersi Roma e una città così ricca di storia e bellezza non poteva certo lasciare indifferente un animo sensibile come quello di Picasso, che tra una visita al Colosseo, a Villa Medici e al Vaticano, ben presto trovò un suo spazio in via Margutta, a pochi passi dell’hotel, che adibì a studio, diventando di fatto parte integrante della esuberante vita artistica romana.

La prima Picasso experience pensata per celebrare questo anniversario (valida per due persone, fino al 19 novembre 2016 e soggetta a disponibilità) comprende un soggiorno minimo di tre notti in una delle eleganti stanze dell’hotel, la colazione continentale a buffet, la possibilità di upgrade e un originale cadeau ispirato a Picasso.

Ma questo è solo l’inizio. Un’altra esperienza tutta da scoprire ispirata al pittore spagnolo, sarà disponibile all’inizio del 2017.

In Vino Veritas l’assoluta verita’ di un vino Knowledge, feeling, thought and desire: the secret recipe of Cecchi Coevo wine Conoscenza, sentimento, pensiero e desiderio: la ricetta segreta di Coevo firmato Cecchi Coevo was created in 2006. It is the wine that marks a major turning point in the history of the Cecchi family. Andrea and Cesare, the fourth-generation family members now at the head of the company, felt the urge to create a wine that would represent a watershed in their winemaking history. Coevo embodies the spirit of tradition, two terroirs, a value for the present but also and mostly for the future. The philosophy behind it is very simple and clear: the highest quality for every vintage, moving from the concept of contemporaneity. Cesare and Andrea wish to be described as “coeval” when it comes to quality.

Organoleptic qualities, modern taste and culture are dynamic elements, which evolve and change over time through man’s intervention. That is why Coevo’s blend changes depending on the vintage, and yet remains faithful to the pillar upon which it was built, to the glue that keeps the Cecchis bound to the land: the Sangiovese. This IGT wine is a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, grown in the Chianti Classico area, and of Merlot and Petit Verdot grapes, grown in Maremma, on the family-owned farms.

The wines from the various grape varieties undergo a oneyear ageing process in different woods- barriques, mostly new barrels, and 500-lt tonneaux of second year-use, in particular for the Sangiovese- after which time the wine blend is finalized and left to rest for six months. As a result, a red wine with such a great character that it attracted a lot of attention both in Italy and abroad from the very outset and became representative of a certain lifestyle.

One of the most important stops on Coevo’s tour through Italy’s Michelin-starred restaurants was Rome where, in 2010, vintage 2007 was introduced to Heinz Beck at La Pergola restaurant, before an audience of journalists, restaurant owners and chefs, who got the message conveyed by the Cecchi family and Coevo perfectly clear.

Coevo è un vino che nasce nel 2006 e rappresenta la sintesi di un percorso molto profondo e importante nella storia della Famiglia Cecchi. Andrea e Cesare, quarta generazione alla guida dell’azienda, hanno fortemente sentito e desiderato questo vino per dare un segnale di svolta alla propria storia enologica. Coevo è memoria della tradizione, testimonianza di due importanti territori, riferimento per il presente ma soprattutto per il futuro. La filosofia con cui nasce è semplice e chiara: il massimo della qualità per ogni annata partendo dal concetto di contemporaneità in quanto Cesare e Andrea volevano essere ‘coevi’ nell’esprimere la qualità.

Qualità organolettica, gusto moderno, cultura, sono elementi dinamici, che si evolvono, e grazie all’uomo variano nel tempo. Per questo motivo l’uvaggio di Coevo varia a seconda della vendemmia mantenendo sempre l’elemento base che lega i Cecchi al proprio territorio, il Sangiovese. Questo IGT di Toscana unisce in sé il Sangiovese e il Cabert Sauvignon, coltivati nel Chianti Classico, e il Merlot e il Petit Verdot, coltivati in Maremma nelle rispettive aziende della famiglia. I vini derivati dalle diverse uve subiscono una maturazione di un anno in legni diversi: barrique, con una buona percentuale di legni nuovi e tonneau da 500 litri in gran parte di secondo passaggio, dedicati soprattutto al Sangiovese. Dopo questo periodo le varietà vengono assemblate e lasciate riposare per sei mesi. Il risultato è un rosso dotato di grande carattere che gli ha permesso, fin dall’inizio, di suscitare tanto interesse in Italia e all’estero tanto da rappresentare uno stile di vita.

Tappa importante per Coevo nel suo tour fra i ristoranti stellati d’Italia fu sicuramente Roma dove nel 2010 fu presentata al ristorante La Pergola da Heinz Beck la vendemmia 2007.
