THE REBEL SPIRIT

SPACE ODDITY

The new sunglasses from Celine, seen on the runway and coming soon to stores, are a true must-have: they transport you into the future, like fashionable astronauts floating through the fashion world. Or perhaps they’re the stars of a futuristic past reminiscent of certain 1960s films – most notably 2001: A Space Odyssey

The chains crafted in the workshops of Casa Pomellato embody a rebellious and nonconformist legacy rooted in the spirit of the late 1970s. Freedom of movement, masterful craftsmanship, and the strength of perfectly forged links: wearing a Pomellato chain means wearing the spirit of that original inspiration.

Amidst Mediterranean scrub and panoramic views of the sea, the Pevero Health Trail is much more than a trail: it’s an immersive experience in Gallura’s most unspoilt nature. The path passes through the Pevero and Romazzino areas, skirting the bays of Porto Liccia and Grande Pevero, in a constant alternation of scents, colours, and glimpses of the Mediterranean. Along its approximately 13 kilometres, you’ll encounter juniper, myrtle, mastic, rosemary, and other native plants, to which eleven fitness stations, designed to combine walking, running, and wellness, are also dedicated.

A unique palette, with the intense blue of the sea and the green of the vegetation, wind-sculpted granite, hidden coves, and, from the highest points like Monte Zoppu, a view encompassing the Gulf of Pevero and the Li Nibani islands. It’s a trail to be enjoyed slowly, letting yourself be guided by the silence, light, and breath of the landscape.

A place where movement becomes contemplation and where the beauty of Sardinia reveals itself step by step, teaching us that the new luxury is slowness.

Beauty on screen

WEBCAM: A LIVE WINDOW ON THE CONSORZIO COSTA SMERALDA® AREA

There’s a new way to experience the beauty of Porto Cervo: a webcam overlooking the sea, able to capture the changing light of the landscape, the contours of the coast, the slow passage of boats, and the suspended atmosphere that makes this stretch of Sardinia so recognizable in real time. It’s not just a technological tool, but an emotional window onto the Mediterranean, open to anyone who wants to rediscover, even from afar, the colour of the water, the feel of the wind, and the luminosity of the granite rocks. From dawn, when the sky turns pink, to sunset, when everything turns golden and quiet, every image becomes a moving postcard. For those who already know these places, it’s a memory that resurfaces; for those who haven’t yet visited, it’s an invitation to make their way there. Technology at the service of emotion, the webcam bridges distances and transforms every connection into a mini-journey.

IT’S A TRAIL TO BE ENJOYED SLOWLY, LETTING YOURSELF BE GUIDED BY THE SILENCE, LIGHT, AND BREATH OF THE LANDSCAPE

ARZACHENA AND NORTHEASTERN SARDINIA ACCORDING TO THE VISION OF ARZACHENA MAYOR ROBERTO RAGNEDDA

ARZACHENA E IL NORD-EST DELLA SARDEGNA NELLA VISIONE DEL SINDACO DI ARZACHENA ROBERTO RAGNEDDA

We meet Roberto Ragnedda, mayor of Arzachena, who tells us about the area from a new perspective.

What would be your vision for this area throughout the rest of the year?

We envisage dynamic places, structured to welcome visitors 365 days a year and able to showcase its diverse character: the elegance of Porto Cervo, the lively waterfronts of the villages of Cannigione and Baja Sardinia, the authenticity of our historic centre, and the 6,000 years of history encapsulated in the seven archaeological sites surrounding the town. My administration’s political and strategic goal is to overcome the extreme seasonality of July and August, periods in which the risk of over tourism could alter the quality of hospitality. Our main resource remains our natural and historical heritage, which is why environmental sustainability and a tourism development model based on slow living are the guidelines we must follow for the future: we can consider them the new luxury How can this coast be made lively and attractive all year round?

The planning of major events is a

key pillar of the deseasonalisation strategy. This is demonstrated by the successes during the winter, with Achille Lauro’s New Year’s concert accompanied by a range of events such as the Porto Cervo markets, which warmed the village with music and tastings, and the Christmas Magic calendar in the historic centre of Arzachena, featuring Santa’s house and many activities for children. Spring, meanwhile, kicked off with the Pasquetta Sound Festival, three days of folklore and crafts culminating in a concert featuringy Fedez and Francesca Michielin in Cannigione. The partnership with the Consorzio Costa Smeralda® and Smeralda Holding is being strengthened to enliven not only Christmas, but also spring with events such as the Premio Costa Smeralda® and the Wine & Food Festival. These are complemented by formats supported by the Municipality, such as the Vermentino International Wine Competition, the International Opera Competition, and Estate in Fiore (September), demonstrating how the destination maintains its appeal throughout the year.

THE PORTO CERVO MARKETS AND THE CHRISTMAS MAGIC CALENDAR IN THE HISTORIC CENTRE OF ARZACHENA

What makes this part of Sardinia special?

Our territory boasts an invaluable historical heritage: the Albucciu Nuraghe, the Malchittu temple, the Moru, Li Lolghi and Coddu Ecchju Tombs of the Giants and the Li Muri necropolis are true open-air museums accessible at any time of year. For nature and outdoor sports lovers, the Municipality has an ambitious plan. It’s called Arzachena Outdoor Coast 2030 and it outlines new nature and cycling trails to explore areas like the Capichera Valley, the Tafoni, the Saloni pond, the mouth of the San Giovanni River, the coast of Poltu Quatu, and Capo Ferro. This combination of natural landscapes, seaside villages, historic towns, and distinctive traditions defines our sustainable tourism offering.

What would be your invitation to those who only know this coast in summer?

We invite you to shift your perspective and be surprised by a different approach to our destination than the usual beach experience. You’ll discover a complete, sustainable, and captivating travel experience any time of year

THE WINNERS OF THE 2026 LITERARY PRIZE TALK ABOUT THEIR WORKS AND THE CHARM OF THIS COASTLINE I VINCITORI DEL PREMIO LETTERARIO 2026 CI RACCONTANO LE LORO OPERE E IL FASCINO DI

QUESTA COSTA

Niccolò Ammaniti, one of the most fascinating voices in contemporary Italian fiction, won the Premio Costa Smeralda® 2026 for Fiction with Il Custode (The Custodian).

An author adept at navigating childhood, adolescence, and the darkest corners of the mind with a style both visionary and lucid, in this novel Ammaniti narrates the fragile yet decisive transition to adulthood.

You won the Premio Costa Smeralda® 2026 for Fiction with Il custode. Where did inspiration for this novel come from?

From a great love for Sicily and a passion for Greek mythology, especially the monsters –hybrid creatures endowed with extraordinary and often lethal powers, still capable today of speaking to our deepest fears. What kind of world is Nilo’s? Is there a connection with Io non ho paura (I’m not Scared)?

There are some similarities, but the two stories are different. Michele’s secret comes suddenly, by chance; Nilo’s, however, has been present in his life since birth. His is a shadowy world, suspended between the darkness of his family and the light of the Sicilian landscape.

How does Il Custode fit into your writing journey?

It’s a novel that returns to theme of adolescence, but it tackles

issues that are new to me: the conflict between family values and the need for independence, sexual desire, and first love. It describes that delicate moment when one begins to leave childhood behind

What current issues do you feel you’ve explored most deeply?

I believe one of the central themes is the delicate relationship between parents and children, especially the moment when a mother must acknowledge her child’s independence. It’s a difficult, painful, but necessary transition. Education becomes the cornerstone of the Vasciaveo family’s life: what is passed down, what is imposed, and what a child must learn to question in order to become his or her own person. Sicily, the land where Il Custode is set, and Sardinia: ancient islands surrounded by the sea. What do you love about Sardinia?

Just like Sicily, Sardinia is much more than an island: it is a veritable continent in miniature. A land that combines ancient histories and breathtaking beauty, harsh, luminous landscapes, memory and mystery. I love Sardinia because I feel its total alienation from the rest of Italy. It is a place that welcomes you and, at the same time, enchants you. An island with an archaic strength that remains deeply imprinted on the imagination.

NICCOLÒ AMMANITI: THE COMING OF AGE JOURNEY

One of the most authoritative figures in contemporary philosophical thought, Adriana Cavarero has placed the voice, the body, and relationships at the centre of her research. With The Song of the Sirens, winner of the Premio Costa Smeralda® 2026 for Nonfiction, she explores one of the most famous episodes of the Odyssey, shifting the focus from the hero Ulysses to the Sirens and transforming the myth into a reflection on the power of song and listening.

Professor Cavarero, what impelled you to reinterpret the myth of Ulysses and the Sirens?

It’s an immortal myth, retold through the ages down to Walt Disney and beyond. I was interested in questioning the centrality of Ulysses, the hero-listener who enjoys the song without dying from it, and shifting the focus to the pleasure of singing itself. Inspired by Eliot, I tried to reverse the plot: the Sirens don’t sing for Ulysses, but to each other, for the collective pleasure of singing a narrative song in a honeyed voice. It was an age of oral culture, in which storytelling and singing were inseparable.

In the book, the voice is presence, relationship. How does singing rethink the word, the body, and the feminine?

Like the Muse, the Sirens are female figures. Singing is voice and breath, it comes from the body, which since ancient Greece has been thought of as feminine. It’s a stereotype, certainly, but it holds an interesting

THE HOME OF THE SIRENS,

meaning. The art of singing stories, as ancient weavers did at the loom, blends voice, narration, music, and rhythmic gesture. The Sirens sing in chorus, each with her own unique voice, in tune with that of the others: choral performance becomes a relationship within plurality. How important is it that philosophy also reaches a young audience?

It’s easier through a myth. Myths speak through images and symbols, appealing to those who still have imagination and invention, qualities that are very much alive in youth.

The myth of the Sirens has spanned centuries and millennia, continually retold, adapted and turned upside down. I’ve also told it in my own way, through Adorno, Kafka and Brecht, toward the celebration of pleasure in singing in tune with the music of the world.

Did receiving the Premio Costa Smeralda® in a place so deeply connected with the sea add a special significance?

I don’t know if the Sirens ever existed, but after seeing this sea, I think their home could have been precisely this: a place of incomparable beauty, of harmony between sky, earth, and water. The myth speaks of calm seas and the noonday hour, of a landscape that is also enchanting. And it’s no coincidence that the word ‘enchantment’ contains ‘chant’, or song. The voice that enchants comes from the Mediterranean magic of a place made to make it resonate.

Balancing Myth and Modernity

LONG STAY IN SARDINIA. THE VISION OF RENZO PERSICO, PRESIDENT OF THE CONSORZIO COSTA SMERALDA® LONG STAY IN SARDEGNA. LA VISIONE DI RENZO PERSICO, PRESIDENTE DEL CONSORZIO COSTA SMERALDA®

Sardinia is no longer just one of the most soughtafter destinations for a Mediterranean summer. In recent years, the island has transformed into a place to call home, welcoming cosmopolitan families with substantial wealth, entrepreneurs and managers who work remotely, and digital nomads who choose to spend long stretches of the year there. At the heart of this evolution is the work of the Consorzio Costa Smeralda®, led by Renzo Persico, a privileged observer of a shift that is redefining the very concept of contemporary luxury: greater quality of life, time, culture, services, and authenticity in a place where legend coexists in perfect harmony with technology and the most advanced modernity. How is the phenomenon of longterm international residency in Sardinia evolving?

It is now a well-established phenomenon. More and more international families are choosing Sardinia not just for a vacation, but as a place to live for long periods of the year, bringing their children,

parents, and daily routines with them. The second home no longer represents exclusively summer leisure time: it becomes an alternative residence, a place where one can work, live well, and maintain an extraordinary quality of life. This change affects the entire island, and in the area I cover, it has been evident for six or seven years now.

How much have infrastructure and services contributed to making this transformation possible?

A great deal. Today, international clients are accustomed to high standards and require continuity between where they usually live and where they decide to relocate for extended periods. Sardinia increasingly offers this possibility: fast connections, easier mobility, efficient services, and a unique setting from both an environmental and human perspective.

In the future, could this become an international model for advanced residential living? I believe this process has already begun.

RENZO PERSICO HAS BEEN THE PRESIDENT OF THE CONSORZIO COSTA SMERALDA® SINCE 2019

Contemporary luxury means quality of life, authenticity, and well-being. Sardinia has all the characteristics to become an international model where sustainability, remote work, and residential living coexist year-round.

What are the Consorzio Costa Smeralda®’s priorities for the coming months?

Welcoming an increasingly diverse public without losing our identity and vision. Today, tourism is based on two major pillars: culture and the environment.

Northeastern coast is a global legend because it preserves beauty, landscape, tradition, and emotional energy. Our task is to protect this heritage while offering a contemporary hospitality experience that makes every visitor feel part of a unique place.

This is the new frontier of hyper-luxury: not merely staying in Sardinia, but feeling a deep sense of belonging to its beauty.

JACQUES COUËLLE: STORY OF THE ARCHITECT WHO INVENTED A NEW WAY OF BUILDING IN PORTO CERVO JACQUES COUËLLE, STORIA DELL’ARCHITETTO CHE HA INVENTATO UN NUOVO MODO DI COSTRUIRE A PORTO CERVO

In the early 1960s, Porto Cervo began to take shape with a then-unconventional goal: to create an international luxury destination without betraying the pristine landscape of northeastern Sardinia. For this reason, in 1962, the Consortium established an Architecture Committee, calling upon Jacques Couëlle, alongside figures such as Luigi Vietti and Michele Busiri Vici. Dubbed ‘anarchitect’ by Prévert, Couëlle arrived in Sardinia with a vision that drew on sculpture, archaeology, botany, and anatomy: to build according to the laws of nature. After his experience in Castellaras-le-Neuf on the Bay of Cannes, he brought to northeastern Sardinia an organic language of curved walls, irregular volumes, natural materials, and spaces conceived in relation to the

terrain, the sun, the wind, and the movements of those who would inhabit them. His first project, the Hotel Cala di Volpe, completed in 1963 with his son Savin, was destined to define the style of this part of the island. Ten years, and many projects later, Couëlle pushed his research further with Villa La Grotta. He didn’t simply design a house, he shaped it as an habitable sculpture, resembling a rock, a shell, a sleeping animal. A mysterious and living building, in which nature becomes a space for man.

A SHORT GUIDE FOR DAYS AT THE SEASIDE IN PORTO CERVO WITH KIDS PICCOLA GUIDA PER GIORNI DI MARE A PORTO CERVO CON I BAMBINI

From sailing lessons in the picturesque gulf to white beaches with shallow, clear waters and kid-friendly restaurants, northern Sardinia’s most exclusive destination can be fully enjoyed also with children. For a pleasant day at the beach, Piccolo Pevero beach, very close to Porto Cervo, offers beachgoers a glimpse of what the area offers. With ample facilities to provide families with everything they need, the beach offers paid parking just steps from the shore, lounger and umbrella rentals, dinghy rentals, and a bar where you can enjoy a leisurely lunch or a snack.

The Spiaggia del Principe (Prince’s Beach), known by locals as Poltu Di Li Cogghj, also owes its name to the story that this small, crescent-shaped beach was Prince Aga Khan’s favourite. Its fine sand and shallow waters, perfect for little ones, make it ideal for those who want to stroll along the seashore and spend the day in a natural landscape, encircled by the large red rocks that characterise these coasts. There is a beach bar, and umbrellas and loungers are available for day rental. Children aged 6 and up who are passionate about sailing or want to learn the basics can sign up

for courses on the J24, 7-meter boats, offered by the YCCS Sailing School of Yacht Club Costa Smeralda® from May to October.

The headquarters are located in the YCCS Sports Centre, while sea trips take place from Giglio beach. Recognized by the Italian Sailing Federation, it operates in collaboration with Franco Pistone, a second-level FIV instructor with extensive sailing and regatta experience.

After a day at the seaside, and perhaps sailing, a good idea might be a stop in the shade of the famous Cala di Volpe Garden, a small Eden with aromatic plants and fruit trees. It’s almost time for dinner. You can choose to enjoy a delicious sandwich right in the Piazza del Principe in Porto Cervo, where the Panino Giusto team prepares express dishes served right in the legendary square.

Or perhaps you can opt for a delicious pizza at the storied Il Pomodoro pizzeria.

With its relaxed atmosphere that’s perfect for families with children, the restaurant offers a wide variety of pizzas and traditional Sardinian dishes that are enjoyed by adults and children alike.

New York – Gallura

It was a momentous arrival, further positioning Sardinia as a top tourist destination for overseas vacationers. When shortly after 8 a.m. on May 21, 2026, the Delta Air Lines Boeing 767 touched down on the tarmac at the Olbia Costa Smeralda® Principe Karim Aga Khan IV airport, the excitement and joy of those present dissolved into prolonged applause, filled with expectations for the island’s future. The first nonstop flight between the Big Apple and Olbia will go down in history and also represents the realisation of one of the Aga Khan’s dream. “One of the Prince’s plans was to create a direct connection to another continent, and we are delighted with it,” said the mayor of Arzachena, Roberto Ragnedda. The flight will operate four times a week until October. The Four Moors flag waving from the pilot’s window

COSTANTINO NIVOLA, MARIA LAI, AND THE INVISIBLE THREAD THAT CONNECTS THE ISLAND TO THE UNITED STATES

The new direct flight from Olbia to New York strengthens the bond between Sardinia and America, already established by important figures from the island, such as Costantino Nivola (1911-1988), an artist originally from Orani who, after moving to the United States in 1939 for political reasons, became one of the leading sculptors and designers of the twentieth century. In the US, he introduced the sandcasting technique and created historic public and private works, such as the monumental plaster relief created in 1953 for the Olivetti showroom on Fifth Avenue in New York. Maria Lai (1919-2013), from Ulassai, is another artist highly-regarded in America. She was celebrated with a major retrospective in 2024 and 2025, exploring her work in relation to her 1968 trip to Canada and the United States. The exhibition was held at the Magazzino Italian Art in New York, a museum founded by Sardinian collector Giorgio Spanu together with his American wife Nancy Olnick, in the Hudson Valley.

NOW SARDINIA AND GALLURA ARE JUST 7-HOUR AND 40-MINUTE FLIGHT FROM THE UNITED STATES

was further confirmation that from this date, Sardinia and Gallura are just 7-hour and 40-minute flight from the United States. This certainty makes the destination even more attractive. Delta Air Lines’ decision to open a new route, including Olbia, was in fact driven by a survey of Delta’s loyal customers, who were asked to vote between launching flights to Malta, Ibiza, and Sardinia. Three islands placed on equal footing, and the customers delivered an overwhelming verdict: Sardinia trumped the other two with its central Mediterranean location, its countless attractions linked to its age-old traditions, its food and wine and authentic products, its Blue Zone with its centenarians, and the enchanting beaches of the northeastern coast. Sardinia is increasingly speaking American.

A PROGRAMME OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION PROJECTS WITH THE SUPPORT OF SMERALDA HOLDING IL PROGRAMMA DI INIZIATIVE DI TUTELA AMBIENTALE PROMOSSO DA SMERALDA HOLDING

Here in the northeastern coast of Sardinia among iconic beaches, crystal-clear waters and children learning about the essence of the Mediterranean, sustainability takes concrete action with simple gestures and community participation. Smeralda Holding Blue Days is the programme of environmental projects promoted by Smeralda Holding which aims to raise awareness on this subject and engage workers, residents, schools, volunteers and local promoters, involving them in the protection of the natural resources of this unique island. When you live in such an extraordinary place, you need to preserve it. And the Consorzio Costa Smeralda® area, because of its delicate ecosystem and its almost unreal beauty, is one of those places in need of constant attention. Not only just to preserve its charm but also because a healthy environment

E il territorio del Consorzio Costa Smeralda®, con il suo ecosistema delicato e la sua bellezza quasi irreale, è uno di quei luoghi che chiedono attenzione quotidiana. guarantees the quality of life, wellbeing and the future of those who live in it. The three green days organised by Smeralda Holding were included in the AgendaBLU project of the Municipality of Arzachena Established in 2018, it has the support of institutions, foundations and volunteers, united with the aim of protecting the natural heritage of Sardinia by raising awareness and carrying out concrete safeguarding activities. It also enjoys the patronage of Olbia’s Direzione Marittima –Capitaneria di Porto Guardia Costiera. The first event, on 21 April, involved cleaning up the Liscia Ruja beach organised with the contribution of Plastic Free Odv Onlus. Members of the Gruppo Smeralda Holding and Consorzio Costa Smeralda®, along with other volunteers took part in the event helping to clean up most of the iconic beaches of Gallura, giving value to such a simple gesture and turning it into an opportunity for sharing and awareness. On the occasion of Earth Day the next day, the project saw the participation of more than 130 children from the primary schools of Arzachena, Abbiadori and Cannigione. The children spent the morning learning about the sea taking part in activities organised with the collaboration of One Ocean Foundation. With the help of microscopes, laboratories and engaging activities, the little ones were able to observe Posidonia oceanica – the ‘green lung’ of the Mediterranean – run simulations of marine reforestation projects and learn how to safeguard dunes and coastal habitats. A smart and engaging way to teach environmental education in a practical way. The third event, on 16 May, involved the cleaning of the seabed of Marina di Porto Cervo. It enjoyed the supervision of the Coastal Guard and the support of local associations, professional scuba-divers and volunteers. This task drew attention again to a problem of the marine ecosystem, often invisible to those who only observe the sea from the surface. Smeralda Holding Blue Days will continue with two new events: on 13 June and 8 July (International Day of the Mediterranean). Today we should all take pride in our privilege: the ability to safeguard the beautiful places around us.

IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT PRESERVING THE BEAUTY OF A PLACE, BECAUSE A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT GUARANTEES THE QUALITY OF LIFE, WELL-BEING AND THE FUTURE OF THOSE WHO LIVE IN IT

Feeling a bit like Sinner

THE MAIN TENNIS COURTS FOR FUN AND LESSONS I PRINCIPALI IMPIANTI PER IL TENNIS, TRA DIVERTIMENTO E LEZIONI

Although tennis in Italy is currently unlimited by time or space, it’s common to think of this sport as a summer favourite, a season when we all feel a bit like Sinner or Paolini.

What may usually be the occasional game becomes almost a ritual between May and October, and finding a court where you can play for an hour or two is one of the goals on holiday. While this can become a treasure hunt in some places, it certainly isn’t in Porto Cervo, which offers plenty of spaces where you can bring your racket and balls for hours of fun and sport.

At the Cala di Volpe Hotel, you’ll find the Mouratoglou Academy, with four tennis courts and two padel courts, where you can practice with qualified coaches or simply have fun with family or friends. There are also tennis

courts at the Grand Hotel Porto Cervo, where you can practice alone or with specialized instructors. At the Cervo Tennis Club (on Via Porto Vecchio in Porto Cervo), there are four synthetic surface courts and a padel court, practically on the waterfront. For those who want to learn or perfect their technique, there are instructors at the Golarsa Academy, founded by the former Italian champion. Finally, the Arzachena Tennis Club boasts nearly fifty years of activity and has six courts within the sports complex.

Invisible security

ARIALDO DEIARA, HEAD OF SERVIZI VIGILANZA COSTA SMERALDA®. TECHNOLOGY, PREVENTION, AND A DISCREET PRESENCE

ARIALDO DEIARA, DIRETTORE DEI SERVIZI VIGILANZA COSTA SMERALDA®. TECNOLOGIA, PREVENZIONE E PRESENZA DISCRETA

In the area managed by the Consorzio Costa Smeralda®, safety is also a top priority. A discreet and sophisticated presence, designed to leave room only for the pleasure of enjoying the sea, the landscapes, and the carefree atmosphere of the world’s most prestigious tourist destination. We discuss this with Arialdo Deiara, who, after gaining experience over more than 35 years of service with the Coast Guard, is now head of Servizi Vigilanza Costa Smeralda® What does it mean to manage a security service in such an international location?

It means managing a wide range of situations: residents, businesses, high-end tourism, and international events. Here, security can’t be limited to territorial control; it must be based primarily on prevention, organization, and the ability to intervene with professionalism and discretion. The quality of service and the human touch truly make the difference.

How much does security contribute to the overall experience of those who live in Porto Cervo?

A great deal. When a person feels safe, they can experience a place with peace of mind and freedom. Security must be perceived not as an imposing presence, but as a constant and discreet activity that contributes to the quality of the destination by safeguarding the prestigious image and tranquility of the Consorzio Costa Smeralda® Effectiveness is not measured by the operator›s visibility, but by the ability to prevent risks and allow residents and guests to live without worry.

What are the main services you provide?

Servizi Vigilanza Costa Smeralda® has just adopted a brand-new, sophisticated computerized video surveillance system for the center of Porto Cervo. Thanks to state-of-the-art video monitoring technology, this system ensures active, real-time monitoring of the area, complementing the dedicated patrols that inspect every part of the consortium’s territory 24 hours a day. This professionalism and efficiency also translates into services for private clients, such as security for villas, jewelry stores, commercial establishments, and other private properties, monitored through the combined use of state-of-the-art video surveillance systems, supported by advanced software, with personnel ready for rapid response or stationed directly to guard specific locations. All with the utmost confidentiality.

‘EFFECTIVENESS IS NOT MEASURED BY THE OPERATOR’S VISIBILITY, BUT BY THE ABILITY TO PREVENT RISKS AND ALLOW RESIDENTS AND GUESTS TO LIVE WITHOUT WORRY’

Security today also involves AI. What advantages does it offer?

Technology has also seen rapid advancements in the field of security. Today we speak of proactive security: systems capable of analyzing large volumes of images in real time, identifying suspicious situations, and sending immediate alerts to reduce response times. Our goal is to serve as constant support to law enforcement agencies, which remain the institutions in charge of and responsible for this activity.

Future projects?

One future project that is already a reality today involves replacing the patrol fleet with 100% electric vehicles. This significant upgrade, initiated by the Consorzio Costa Smeralda®, continues its Costa Smeralda Goes Electric campaign by installing electric charging stations in members’ parking lots and gradually adopting electric vehicles across other divisions of Servizi Costa Smeralda®. As for security, we are planning to expand the proactive video surveillance system to cover the entire consortium territory in close collaboration with law enforcement and institutions, aiming to implement an integrated system that brings together technology, qualified personnel, local knowledge, public institutions, and law enforcement agencies, with the aim of creating a platform that ensures a high level of security while consistently and strictly respecting the privacy of the territory of the Consorzio Costa Smeralda®

A story on a dish

ZICHI BREAD: SIMPLE, BUT ONLY AT FIRST SIGHT IL PANE ZICHI, SEMPLICE MA SOLO IN APPARENZA

It’s a simple dish, but its ingredients can be difficult to find.

Although they’re few, they’re difficult to replicate.

To prepare Zichi bread , you first need to travel to Bonorva, a town of just over three thousand inhabitants in the Logudoro region, bordering Gallura.

Find one of the local bakeries that produce the famous local bread: a flatbread that, after air-drying, is then broken by hand into rough pieces.

This not-too-thin, irregularly shaped bread creates a delicious dish, similar to fresh pasta.

This is the result of ‘recycling,’ as in ancient times this bread was eaten until it dried out, and to avoid waste, it was cooked and then reused as a main course.

Zichi bread was, and still is, almost always cooked in a mutton and vegetable broth as if it were pasta. Boiled for just a few minutes, the Zichi is then ready to be drained.

It will have absorbed all the flavours of the broth and it’s time to season it.

While many serve it with just, a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and a generous sprinkling of grated pecorino, it’s best served with a quick, fresh sauce , like the one made with various cherry tomatoes and generous amounts of freshly picked basil, which is where Zichi bread really shines.

COOK IT AS IF IT WERE FRESH PASTA IN A BROTH MADE FROM LAMB AND VEGETABLES

The sauce is simple to make, as are its ingredients: cherry tomatoes cut in half and simmered with oil, a clove of garlic, and plenty of basil –strictly torn by hand, never cut with a knife –added both during cooking and once the sauce is added to the Zichi bread. Because what we should remember about this dish is the distinctive texture of the Zichi in our mouths and the intoxicating aroma of basil on our hands. 3
