VIVER BENE ESPERIENZE E EMOZIONI NEL SEGNO DEL BENESSERE EXPERIENCES AND EMOTION IN THE WORLD OF WELL-BEING

Buona lettura.

EDITORIAL

COSMHO: ever more the signature magazine of Costa Smeralda. Once again, we invite you to get into the life and emotions of the island through photographs, stories and interviews. In past editions, we’ve highlighted the longevity concept and the love towards Sardinia. Without doubt, we can state that Sardinia is synonymous with well-being: crystal-clear sea, clean air and generous aquifers, last but not least one of its water is acclaimed as best in the world in 2019. The project of restyling involving all four properties has brought a great renovation to Cala di Volpe this year. Jacques Couëlle’s vision and style have been maintained, exalting the details that have allowed the hotel - both yours and ours - to become a symbol of international hospitality. The hotel now vaunts a spa where guests can recharge, ten refurbished rooms to treat oneself to the best, a new bar where guests can meet and enjoy aperitivo, the new barbecue with pizza and pasta dining options in the evening, restaurant Matsuhisa, excellence of Japanese cuisine, and La Fattoria: a corner of paradise to try local products. Furthermore: the new Welcome Arrival at Romazzino, the reinterpretation of the Portico and La Pergola in Porto Cervo, the construction of sidewalks allowing visitors to go for a run or walk from Cala di Volpe to Romazzino and vice versa, as well as from the centre of Porto Cervo to Porto Paglia beach and back. Fifteen kilometres have already been built and another thirty are planned for the next year. As usual, we put people first, our guests, and the roughly 1,000 people who work in our hotels and restaurants with great passion, flexibility and sense of belonging, making the difference. Special, unique, better: this is how we wish our guests feel during their vacation. Living well to be at peace with oneself and others is the true secret to happiness. Good read.

L’ISOLA DELLE MERAVIGLIE VIAGGIO CON ALBERTO ANGELA TRA I COLORI, I TESORI, L’ I M M E N S A B E L L E Z Z A D E L L A S A R D E G N A EXPLORE THE COLOURS, TREASURES AND IMMENSE BEAUTY OF SARDINIA WITH ALBERTO ANGELA text Antonia Ruggero

Sardinia is at once wild, deep, soft and transparent; it is an ancient land with contrasting landscapes of rugged rocks that challenge the wind and the blue sea. “Visitors to this island immediately recognize that they’re surrounded by a land never before seen. Lunar mountains dotted with giant boulders, drenched in a such a light that they seem as if in a dream,” wrote Guido Piovene of Sardinia in his Viaggio in Italia. Through the art of visual narration, Alberto Angela revealed the treasures of this island in the latest episode of Meraviglie, the television program broadcast on Rai 1 created and hosted by him, offering viewers evocative stories and images of this charming island. An episode all about Sardinia: what struck you the most about this island? Certainly the aromas, the atmospheres, the landscape and the harmony of the coast, but mostly the beauty of the inland areas and their masterpieces. The Archeological Museum in Cagliari is full of treasures, like the Giants of Mont’e Prama,

In Sardegna

the oldest statues in the entire western Mediterranean, even older than the Greek statues. These Giants discovered in a field, broken into more than 5,000 fragments, then painstakingly reassembled. There’s also the Nuragic complex in Barumini, the oldest castle in the Western world and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These are true wonders that attest to ancient Sardinian culture, which we must protect and promote. Sardinia is a special island in terms of nature and aromas, but especially because of its people: their DNA is ancient and pure. What has their impact been? The island’s colours are striking; they capture your gaze and remain in your mind and heart every time you leave Sardinia. But what was most striking to me was the warmth and reception I received from the people, who vaunt a deep sense of morality and hospitality. Here, you feel wel-

The idea for Infinity is to create a boat concept that starts from a simple sharp line that connects two windows; one looking out into the horizon and the other one pointing towards the stern, through the owner’s entertaining area. Infinity features Rossinavi’s typical sporty lines for a high performance boat. An innovative, fast displacement hull with shallow draft and wide outdoor areas on the upper deck are the signature of this design, with exteriors designed by Italian architect Fulvio De Simoni.

ti senti coccolato, abbracciato dalle persone.

comed, embraced by the people. I believe that this is because theirs is a sincere culture, made of ancient, shared values. Domus de Janas and other archeological wonders can be found in the northern part of the island. What can you tell us about them? Domus de Janas is an extraordinary archeological site in Bonorva, in the province of Sassari. It’s made up of pre-historic burial structures with tombs dug into the rock, typical of Pre-Nuragic Sardinia. “Domus” means “house” and “Janas” means “fairies,” so a house for the afterlife, returning the deceased to the motherland. There are more than 3,500 of them in Sardinia, but the ones in Bonorva are unique because they were used and reused for centuries, first as Neolithic tombs, then Roman tombs and, finally, Byzantine temples. These constant changes are seen in the colours that have remained over time:

Neolithic red, frescoes of Roman matrone and Byzantine reliefs. Sardinia is synonymous with well-being and longevity. In your opinion, what is behind this correlation? Sardinia is still largely unspoilt, and its residents live healthy, simple lives. But I also think that Sardinians have a way of living and a perception of life that has been lost in other places. Perhaps the secret is their deeper and more direct contact with nature, along with an ancient knowledge that can be considered the Sardinian soul, as Dori Ghezzi reminded us, a guest on the program and someone who chose and loves this island, similarly to De Andrè, who once wrote, “Life in Sardinia is perhaps the best that man can have: with 24,000 kilometres of forests, countrysides and coasts surrounded by a miraculous sea, I’d ask God himself to model Paradise after Sardinia.”

“LIFE IN SARDINIA IS PERHAPS THE BEST THAT MAN CAN HAVE”

FLEURS DE JARDIN BY JACOB & CO. Inspired by the sophisticated mechanism of the Astronomia Solar, the Fleurs de Jardin makes horology colorful and feminine. Designed to recreate a beautiful garden of flowers on your wrist, this amazing timepiece is powered by a twirling, spinning and rotating butterfly tourbillon movement. The tourbillon, time display and upper level precious stone flowers all turn around the dial clockwise, while the other gemstone flowers below turn counter-clockwise (sapphires, tsavorites, citrines, amethysts, rubies and orange garnets). The effect? When you look at your Fleurs de Jardin timepiece, it never looks the same way twice. And you will never look at high watchmaking for women the same way either.

Inventa, progetta e spedisce software in Cina, Russia, Australia, in diversi stati dell’Unione Europea e – perfino – in Giappone. Abinsula is one of the most innovative projects in Italy: the company, headquartered in Sassari, exports technology for the automotive industry. It invents, designs and sends software to China, Russia, Australia, various countries in the European Union and even Japan. That’s right: technology developed in Sardinia is imported to the Land of the Rising Sun, where research in the auto industry is historically avant-garde. Abinsula (its name means “from the island”) was founded in 2012, becoming economically viable in only a few years: in 2018, the company earned 7 million euro and employed more than 100 people. In 2016, it won the award for the best startup in Italy, and in 2017, in Montecitorio, won the “Award of awards” in the field of innovation.

We’re all electronic engineers and our biggest passion is, of course, technology. With Abinsula, we combined the individual skills and experiences that we developed throughout our careers. How has the company developed over the years? Abinsula made a strong entrance into the market: it immediately became one of the best Italian start-ups thanks to our revenue and number of employees. Noi ci crediamo.

tential. This wasn’t the case for us. For example, with regards to insularity and transports, our core-business is programming and shipping software. We export high tech. Everything goes through the web so there none of the traditional logistical problems. Furthermore, because the market in Sardinia isn’t very dynamic, there is little flexibility. People tend to stay where they are; they don’t change jobs easily. This has allowed us to create a stable and loyal workforce. You could say that we didn’t have to worry about tackling a ‘diaspora’ of skills: the sea keeps us together. The peculiarities inherent in the concept of insularity have allowed us to form a large, strong family. Could your success be replicated? Are there the right conditions for investing in high-tech companies? In my opinion, a highly qualified technology hub could be instituted in Sardinia and exported elsewhere, like a software factory with clients all over the world. We believe in that.

The Cala di Volpe Hotel is an icon, no doubt, but constantly evolving. A “living” hotel which is renewed year by year, though preserving its soul intact. We interviewed Bruno Moinard and Claire Betaille from 4BI & Associés, the architects behind the hotel’s renovation project, to learn more about its ever-changing nature. Evolution or revolution? With regards to the pre-existing, was your approach one of continuity or change? BM: It is both an evolution and a revolution. CB: Just like two archeologists, we dug deep into Couelle’s work and history, in his passion for the place, for the surrounding landscape and its beauty. We realize that renovating something created by an artist of the caliber of Jacques Couelle is a great challenge. What inspired you? BM: We knew Couelle’s work well, his philosophy and that of the artists he collaborated with: being able to work here makes us very happy! It is an extraordinary story that we quickly picked up. CB: Starting from the sixties, the vision of comfort and technology has very much evolved: the purpose was that of developing this technology in an “invisible” way, prioritizing comfort. The Cala di Volpe Hotel is known because of its guests booking the same room year by year. Each room, in fact, has its own personality and feels like a second home to go back to every year. BM: Yes, each room is different. Designing them is like modeling a piece of sculpture by looking at it from different points of view. We worked on every single detail to preserve and highlight each room’s distinctiveness.

EVERYTHING IN THIS HOTEL SPEAKS OF CRAFTSMANSHIP

soft beige-colored stones, cut in random shapes to be evocative of the beach’s warmth. The walls, both plastered and wooden, are tactile. Light slides over these materials with softness and sensuousness. There are no right angles anymore. We are inside a sculpture which draws inspiration from the Costa Smeralda’s landscape, with granitic rocks, juniper wood and colorful and bright hand-blown glass. The hall of Cala Di Volpe is a very distinguishing part of the hotel, known all over the world because of the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me and preserved intact since the seventies. How did you approach it? BM: This film marked the history of the hotel and of Costa Smeralda, we had to preserve its image, which has a dream-like quality to it. But for the magic to work, you have to keep the dream alive. Which is the reason why we restored the flooring, in order to show the original colors, we improved the quality of lighting and enlarged the bar to increase its convivial atmosphere, a sort of theatre with an outdoor stage. If Cala di Volpe were a person, how would you describe his or her new look? BM: Rather than as a person, I would describe it as a theatre performance interpreted by several directors. In a distant future, how will today’s millennials see the hotel, as compared with today’s regular customers who began frequenting the hotel at their same age? BM: We hope that this generation will be attracted to the Cala di Volpe Hotel because irresistibly attracted to this place which has always existed. We haven’t changed anything from this point of view.

Ho avuto poco tempo fa una divertente discussione con un amico, anche lui ospite storico del Romazzino, sulla mia “anzianità di servizio”… Così, con mia moglie, ho fatto bene i conti: il nostro primo soggiorno in Costa Smeralda risale al 1996, un weekend di maggio. Allora il Romazzino apriva già a metà aprile e noi arrivavamo a inizio stagione. Nel 1998, un giorno eravamo in spiaggia e il giorno dopo con i Barbour a cacciare i cinghiali nell’entroterra di Porto Cervo. Da qualche anno abbiamo spostato la vacanza a fine stagione, i primi dieci giorni di settembre. Le giornate sono un po’ più corte, è vero, ma è veramente l’unico difetto. Per il resto i colori, gli odori, poca gente … è tutto perfetto! Io e mia moglie, in vacanza, siamo degli abitudinari e andiamo lì per godere il mare, l’hotel, gli amici: alle otto di mattina siamo in spiaggia, un po’ di palestra lei, una camminata io. Tanti libri, un buon pranzo e anche se il sole tramonta un po’ prima la nostra giornata è stata già piena e bellissima. Per me, uno dei momenti migliori è la camminata al mattino, lungo la riva. Piccoli riti per iniziare bene la giornata. Mentre ripercorrevo con il pensiero i quasi ventitré anni trascorsi qui, mi sono ricordato anche il motivo per cui abbiamo scelto l’hotel Romazzino: negli anni Novanta frequentavo spesso un noto albergo di Milano. Il capo portiere era una persona fantastica, con una memoria formidabile. Mia moglie - che allora era solo la mia fidanzata - e io volevamo fare una vacanza in Sardegna e chiedemmo a lui un consiglio. Nessuna incertezza: “L’hotel giusto per voi è il Romazzino. Cala di Volpe è fantastico, ma non è per voi perché volete il mare a due passi; Pitrizza no, perché amate la vita in hotel e Pitrizza non sembra un hotel;

I recently engaged in a playful discussion with a friend - who has been coming to Hotel Romazzino for a long time - about my “length of service”. And so, my wife and I did the math: our first stay in Costa Smeralda dates back to 1996, a weekend in May. Back then, Hotel Romazzino opened in mid-April and we used to arrive at the beginning of the season. In 1998, one day we were sunbathing on the beach and the next we were wild boar hunting with the Barbours in the hinterland of Porto Cervo. For some years now, we’ve been coming at the end of the season, on the first ten days of September. The days are shorter, but that’s the only flaw in an otherwise perfect vacation: the colors, the smells, less people around! My wife and I stick to the same routine on vacation and we go there to enjoy the sea, the hotel, our friends: at 8 am we go to the beach, my wife does some gym, I go for a walk. A lot of reading, a delicious lunch and, although the sun goes down quite early, we’ve always had a full, lovely day. To me, one of the most enjoyable moments of the day is walking along the shore early in the morning. Small rituals to start the day off right. While I was recalling the nearly twenty-three years spent here, I remembered why we chose Hotel Romazzino in the first place. In the nineties, I was a regular customer of a famous hotel in Milan. The head concierge was a brilliant person, with a terrific memory. My wife - who was still my fiancée at the time - and I wished to vacation in Sardinia and we asked him for some advice. He said without hesitation: “The right hotel for you is the Romazzino. Cala di Volpe is fantastic, but it’s not your thing, because you like being by the beach; Pitrizza no, because you enjoy hotel life and the Pitrizza doesn’t even look like a hotel;

the Romazzino is a family and children-friendly hotel, but you seem to like children although you don’t have any of your own, so it’s perfect”. And he was right: we fell in love with the hotel and have never changed since then. I have a very clear memory of our first weekend there: we arrived early in the morning, as we usually do, and the moment we got out of the car I noticed the path leading to the beach, the blue sky, the even bluer sea…I took my shoes off and headed straight to the beach, leaving my wife to do the check-in. And I still do the same, because we feel at home at the Romazzino. People make the difference here: the place is unique, no doubt, but there are thousands of beautiful places around the world. Over the years, we’ve seen the staff members grow, even professionally, retire or get married and have children. But the faces are always the same, year by year, and you get to establish a bond, share some lovely moments. And then there are a lot of children, the guests’ children…. and they make everything seem so extraordinarily normal!

Da allora, ogni estate, a inizio luglio, torniamo all’Hotel Cervo.

Fifteen years have gone by, but I will never forget our first trip to Italy. My husband Michael and I spent our Christmas holidays at our dear family friends’ Terrabianca wine estate in Siena, followed by a few days in Florence. It was magical! Our friends also had a holiday home in Sardinia and invited us along with our two children, Jon and Allie. It was love at first sight. And we have been back to Hotel Cervo the beginning of July every year since then. The first thing that attracted me to the hotel was its name. I love deer and think of them as my spirit animal. Graceful, beautiful and gentle. Words which are fitting to describe Hotel Cervo. And the minute we walked into the lobby, the fragrance of tall white lilies filled the air. I adore that smell, as well as the smell of the sea breeze while we are walking down the pathways adorned with Bougainvillea and hydrangeas. My husband immediately loved the hotel’s location, right in the middle of the Piazza and near the pizzerias, gelaterias, art galleries and elegant boutiques. Since I used to be a singer and still sing when I can, our favorite space within the hotel is the piano lounge where we listen to live music every evening while enjoying our gelato and buonanotte tea, which the staff always bring us at our favorite seats. During those pleasant moments, I often fantasize about retiring in Sardinia and singing in that lounge, while Michael runs a gelateria or pizzeria. We have stayed in many different rooms over the years, but our favorite to date is the newly renovated large suite, with the sitting room overlooking the water, where we enjoy the sunset while watching the

gli yacht che rientrano in porto. Respiriamo a fondo pieno l’aria salmastra.

yachts come back into port and breathing in the fresh air. And I also love our romantic after-dinner walks hand in hand, while gazing at the stars in the clear Italian sky. We love taking advantage of the hotel’s leisure activities. We have ridden on horseback through the countryside and along the water near the sea. We have taken day trips out on a yacht with our children, seeing places that you would never have the opportunity to visit otherwise, and day trips to Corsica and driving through the Sardinian canyons exploring all the beauty the island has to offer. In the morning, we usually wander off to the pool and soak up the Sardinian sun, and every afternoon we go to the fitness center, before getting ready for dinner. Between each activity, Eddy the puppy is always available to pet and loves the attention he gets. We always leave Sardinia sad in our hearts because we truly desire to stay longer. We have the dream of one day retiring in Costa Smeralda, or at least spending half of the year in our special magical Mediterranean land. We have traveled many places over the years, but we have to admit that there is no place like our Sardinian casa.

Io e mia moglie amiamo molto viaggiare. Altro ele-

My wife and I really love to travel. We’re on holiday for almost six months out of the year, perhaps more. We’re often changing hotels, but Cala di Volpe is the only hotel we come back to every year. We’ve been visiting for ten years now because we truly feel at home here. For our first vacation in the Costa Smeralda, we chose to listen to the advice offered by the reception manager at the time, who recommended visiting after the first week of September if we wanted to fully enjoy our holiday. I think he definitely understood our tastes, because every year, we return to Cala di Volpe around September 10 and stay for two weeks. For us, this is the perfect period. The hotel is less crowded, which allows its magical atmosphere to come to the forefront. We’ve happened to stay until the hotel closes since they said, “You’re here already! Why not stay a few extra days?” It was wonderful to experience such a unique ambiance, more relaxing than ever before, making us feel like the luckiest guests of the season. This has guaranteed that come the start of summer, every year, my wife and I think, “We need to book Cala”. There is something unique here compared to other parts of the world. It has to do with the design: the hotel seems like it’s in one of those historic Provençal villages from 50 years ago. I remember what those places were like before they were overrun with tourism; they weren’t fashionable but you enjoyed the view of the pier and the fishermen’s houses lining the water. The whole scene took your breath away. We’ve only once found something similar, on the Virgin Islands, specifically on the old Rockefeller plantation: the bay with the pelicans seems like Cala di Volpe with its jetty. Here, every room is different from the others, as are the balconies; watching the sunset from our room is such a magnificent feeling.

Another important element to our stay is the service, a priceless aspect of the hotel because the staff makes us feel like family rather than just another client. You’re not a guest, but a friend. A major plus is the restaurant. In just a few minutes, the staff understands your tastes, often suggesting dishes that may be off the menu but which they believe you will enjoy. We’ve met Germans, Swiss, Northern Europeans who’ve been coming to Cala for 18 or 20 years. If you ask them why, they’ll say, “Don’t you see the peace, relaxation and friendly atmosphere that this place exudes?”. In the evening, we all sit close to one another (it’s like a big table of friends) and talk about the day. The conversations are strange; Sometimes, I wish they could be captured on video: one speaks Italian, another German, another still in French, and often, someone will jump in with English, and so on. Every year we find ourselves back here, as if we were together in a villa with friends, each one doing what they want. One person goes to the beach, another goes for a hike, one out to dinner, trying different restaurants in dinearound, while another looks at someone’s food and asks for recommendations for what to order. Many flaunt their stays at Cala di Volpe as a status symbol, but in reality, it’s a way to feel right with oneself and with others.

Our first holiday at Pitrizza was in 1999. It wasn’t the first time we’d been to Italy - we had already visited southern Sardinia - but we knew we had hit the jackpot when we discovered the Costa Smeralda, and Hotel Pitrizza in particular. More than ten years have passed since our first stay, and we’ve long begun to consider this place a second home. For us, Pitrizza is more than a hotel. We love Sardinia because we can completely disconnect from our routine and recharge as we’re surrounded by beauty: during the long, cold winters in Sussex, it’s lovely to look at photos of our vacation in the Costa Smeralda and talk about the kindness of the staff, the quality of the food and the beauty of the sea! Pitrizza is perfect for us: we can enjoy the incredible waterfront, admire breath-taking views, head into the mountains and visit beautiful places. It’s a true paradise; even the service is heavenly! When you take the same vacation for so many years, you develop rituals, and we’re no exception: at Pitrizza, we enjoy a wonderful breakfast, hit the beach, perhaps have a snack and take a swim. Then we prepare for lunch and an afternoon full of relaxation and beauty. Our typical day in the Costa Smeralda is truly relaxing, made all the more unforgettable by the incredible food. When it comes to food, I taught at Le Cordon Bleu London Culinary School in London, and even if I now only cook for my husband, my care, experience and passion for cuisine have remained the same.

It’s for this reason that I love to watch the chefs in the kitchen; I enjoy their creativity and I appreciate the quality of the ingredients they use: we always explore new dishes, each one different from the others. We always choose to take our Italian holiday in September, when the temperature is perfect. For a few years now, we’ve met a few other guests with whom we’ve forged wonderful friendships. It’s lovely to find friends at Pitrizza each time we go back; it really makes us feel at home. The wonderful sensation of feeling like you’re surrounded by family is also guaranteed thanks to a staff that isn’t replaced every year something quite unusual for a hotel of this calibre: it’s wonderful to be greeted by people who know us and remember our habits and tastes. At Pitrizza, everyone feels welcome, and this is priceless, almost as much as dining with fantastic food while the sun sets above us.

SEE SAME FACES AT PITRIZZA EACH TIME, IT REALLY MAKES US FEEL AT HOME

Health through nature and respect for its rhythms is a priceless treasure

Dive into the bluest of waters, with a full immersion vacation marked by relaxation and well-being, to say nothing of joy, when we’re once again in touch with nature, rediscovering our origins. And what better place is there to reawaken our body and mind than the slice of paradise we call the Costa Smeralda? It is here, in the land of longevity, that we find the collaboration between Amanda Hamilton, Scottish nutritionist and author of a series of best sellers about how to change our lifestyle, and the Executive Chefs at the hotels Romazzino and Cala di Volpe. It is here that guests practice the art of natural food, the spontaneous herbs bestowed by this generous island and the food that encourages us to once again be at one with nature. Hamilton, who offers personalized programs at her London-based clinic, focusing on DNA, for some of the most stressed people in today’s society, including figures in the worlds of high finance, politics and entertainment, provides a bit of relaxation during her programs in Costa Smeralda. Fitness activities will be proposed, as always, by Mauro Maggi’s LSN team, with high-end personal trainers, while Hamilton will be dedicated to well-being. “This is a choice I made more than 15 years ago. mio lavoro di giornalista – racconta Amanda Hamilton – ho potuto investigare proprio sugli alimenti di cui ci nutriamo. Così ecco tornare i prodotti fermentati.

to my work as a journalist,”says Amanda Hamilton, “I was able to examine the food we put in our body. I understood that I needed a change and so I decided to work with nutrition and well-being, with the knowledge that each person is unique.” This was the start of her personalized programs. Her Scottish upbringing contributed extensively to this path, as it was her mother who handed down her love of cultivating her own vegetables and aromatic herbs. It’s a return to man’s origins, sure, but how? For her summer programs in Costa Smeralda, she’s proposing her personal philosophy based on local production chains and organically-farmed products. This includes Cannonau wine full of polyphenols, myrtle, chia seeds, cocoa, maca and spirulina, all of which offer an extra boost. In a nutshell, the Mediterranean diet of yesteryear. During her programs, fermented products are once again in the spotlight, as are ancient flours like buckwheat and spelt, which are more digestible. This also aids in weight loss, even if that isn’t a priority here. “Healthy eating is the most important thing, just as it should be a pleasure to eat things that are also tasty,” explains Hamilton.

Maxim of the day: unplug, return to nature. To do it, Amanda Hamilton is inviting guests to a family table, surrounded by nature at the Fattoria at Cala di Volpe. Starting in mid-July, guests will be called to share food and connect with nature, bringing them back to the beginning. “The Farm”, says Hamilton, “embodies by entire philosophy.” What does it mean to return to the food of the past and to their simplicity, in a distinctly rustic setting? A large table that can seat anywhere from 12 to 20 people, like the ones once used at farmhouses, and surrounded by towering trees. “Here, guests can once again practice a good approach to food,” continues Hamilton. Herein lies the problem: food is too industrial these days. But the menus selected by Hamilton together with the chefs will exclusively use local products for these four-course dinners, favouring the island’s typical products. These include myrtle, the Sardinian herb par excellence, seasonal vegetables and local meats and fish.“My goal is to eat healthy, organic food without needing to renounce too many things,” explains Hamilton. “Variety is essential for a happy food experience.” This is a detoxifying journey, during which guests - through food and supported by the captivating landscape of Cala di Volpe - can reconsider how they eat on a daily basis and perhaps, once the vacation is over, change their lifestyle. Her individual packages will offer menus based on kefir, fresh juices, soups and vegan and vegetarian products, as well as fitness and spa experience where guests can enjoy exclusive products by Clarins and Shiseido.

If your knowledge of Sardinian cuisine goes barely beyond pane carasau, malloreddus pasta, myrtle liqueur and Vermentino wine, then you’re in for a surprise! Because, based on local produce both from the earth and the sea, Sardinian cuisine offers more foods than you can possibly wish for. The region’s production of vegetables is embedded in a millenary tradition and, over the past few years, local farmers have been committed to reviving native varieties and growing top-quality produce showing health benefits closely associated with the Mediterranean diet. Vegetables, but also excellent freshly-caught fish off the coast, are the basic ingredients of a sweet-smelling and flavor-packed regional cuisine, which is light and particularly rich in minerals and vitamins. Such a cuisine would definitely appeal to Oscar Wilde who, speaking of food, once said: “I have very simple tastes, I always settle for the best”. OCTOPUS Sardinia loves octopus. And octopus loves Sardinia. Whether a traditional or creative recipe, don’t miss the chance to taste Sardinian octopus. Each cook has his or her own “secret” recipe. The tenderizing of the “polpo” is traditionally achieved by beating it against the rocks on the shore and leaving it to dry in the sun. It is then boiled in water over very low heat. Modern techniques, however, have allowed to perfect the traditional cooking method: the skin remains attached and the texture is perfect. It is not a betrayal of tradition, but rather its creative embrace. BOTTARGA Bottarga is one of Sardinia’s best-known and most delicious delicacies. It is originally from Cabras, a small town situated along Sardinia’s west coast. Bottarga is cured mullet roe which can be enjoyed either cut in thin slices as

e C. Hanno proprietà rimineralizzanti e rinfrescanti. Superbe in insalate, passati e smoothie.

and B and C vitamins. They also have remarkable re-mineralizing and refreshing properties. A delicious ingredient to add to salads, soups and smoothies. ITALIAN KALE The basic ingredient of the famous chickpea and Sardinian fregola (an ancient, traditional Sardinian type of pasta made with durum wheat and water) soup, kale has beneficial anti-inflammatory properties and contains antioxidant substances. SCAMPI Sardinian scampi are simply amazing. To be enjoyed raw or delicately sautéed or in the classic regional dish with fregola pasta and shrimps. Another flavorsome, aromatic yet light dish is the so-called filindeu (meaning “threads of God”, a rare and little-known type of pasta, very difficult to make) with scampi and lemon. JOHN DORY A very delicate, light and nearly boneless fish. John Dory is an elegantly-flavored ingredient, which pairs beautifully with vegetables and leafy greens, from asparagus to spinach. CARROTS Beneficial to the heart, sight and digestive tract, carrots contain beta carotene, an antioxidant which protects the body from free radicals which damage cells through oxidation. ROSEMARY Foraging, that is, searching for wild food resources, is all the rage these days. Everywhere in Sardinia, you’re sure to find something just by walking through the Mediterranean scrub vegetation: thyme, wild green onions and, above all, rosemary, with its unmistakable aroma. What can you do with rosemary? For instance, you can rub roast meat and fish with it. You can sprinkle it over potato focaccia bread. Simply delicious.

In this recipe, the bluefin tuna’s flavor is enhanced by seasoning it with olive oil, salt, pepper, lime and a mix of chopped rosemary and grated mullet bottarga, while an infusion of rosemary, white wine and wildflower honey perfumes the dish with unmistakable Mediterranean aromas. The versatile and savory goat’s milk cheese is highlighted by the lemon thyme and chives, crowing the princely tuna. Vegetable sprouts complete the garnish and the infusion makes the dish fragrant with the scent of Mediterranean scrub.

This is the only pieds dans l’eau restaurant in Costa Smeralda, Quattropassi al Pescatore offers a sophisticated service in a stunning setting. Sinuous blocks of travertine decorate the bar, the fish corner and the reception. Hanging glass lamps, terracotta tiles and chairs are designed specifically for this exquisite corner of pure perfection, lapped by the waves of the Mediterranean. The seaside terrace is filled with tables, chairs and woven overhead lamps. But the star in this culinary pearl is the food. The menu has been artfully created in partnership with two-time Michelin-starred chef Antonio Mellino, patron of the famous restaurant Quattropassi in Nerano on the splendid Amalfi Coast. Antonio, known as Tonino, owes his love for food to his mother, who cooked for aristocratic families holidaying on the Sorrento Peninsula. Quattropassi al Pescatore, in the heart of Porto Cervo, brings this elegant culinary tradition to Sardinia. Zucchini linguini is the restaurant’s legendary dish, but there are also paccheri with scorpionfish, ravioli with fresh tomatoes and large plates of raw fish and meats. Here, recipes use Sardinian pecorino cheese, vegetables and fish straight from the island, but this goes without saying!

TASTE OF SARDINIA L A C O S TA S M E R A L D A I N U N P I AT T O T H E C O S TA S M E R A L D A I N A D I S H

Every winter for the last nine years, when the Costa Smeralda seems to rest and get prepared for the summer ahead, the flavours of this generous region are at the centre of Taste of Sardinia. This year’s edition, held in Miami, was attended by chefs Maurizio Locatelli (Cala di Volpe), Gianni Mallao (Romazzino) and chef de partie Giangavino Scanu (Cala di Volpe), together with the Cala di Volpe’s restaurant director, Mario Lutzoni. It is thanks to their hard work that the Costa Smeralda’s culinary brigade spread the culture of food and wine to all corners of the world, making the experiences at these hotels unforgettable summer after summer. Last February, an exclusive dinner was held for 40 guests in the splendid library of Soho Beach House Miami, serving rich courses of foods and wines that fully represent the intense and captivating flavours of Sardinia’s culinary traditions: Sautéed calamari with asparagus, cured grey mullet and cherry tomatoes, Marinated beef carpaccio with pecorino cream and olives and sprinkled with coarse salt, a Salad with Sardinian artichokes, pecorino flakes and fried egg, Sardinian fregula with seafood and, for the impeccable ending, a Mandarin-scented cream custard. “This initiative allows us to spread awareness about our

We present a world made of food and wine rooted in a nature that is both respected and cared for, a world that is beautiful to discover in person, where the people are ready to welcome you.” The mastery displayed by Maurizio Locatelli and Mario Lutzoni could also be seen during the evening held in the elegant Perez Art Museum Miami, which included a brand-new collaboration between Locatelli and executive chef Kaytlin Dangaran, bestowing the event’s guests with the feeling of a sophisticated resort immersed in a classic fishermen’s village in the warm Mediterranean. Contributing to the success of the evening was the starred-chef Sarah Grueneberg, who presented – alongside Locatelli and Danagaren – a dinner inspired by the Mare Nostrum while offering specialities coming from the Atlantic. The dinner on February 22 was one of the events of the five “starred” days of the annual The Food Network and Cooking Chanel South Beach Wine & Food Festival, which provides an opportunity to young, highly talented chefs and wine and liqueur producers to come together to create new

blends of food and wine. The important collaboration between the South Beach Wine & Food Festival and Barilla Bites resulted in delicious dishes like Zucchini gratin “alla logudorese” with aromatic herbs and Fregula with citrus-scented calamaretti and basil oil, as well as Cala di Volpe’s classic tiramisu. “I’ve once again realized,” said Locatelli, “that in the world of Sardinian cuisine, not only do we offer strong flavours, but beloved ones as well. I think that we must exalt their natural purity, their simplicity and their ingredients without distorting their origin, avoiding muddling the flavours with aromas and spices that aren’t part of our tradition. When I cook, I try to paint a picture using shades that are recognized by the palate of those who taste my dishes. I narrate the ‘light’ of a flavour and I feel that this is recognized.” From April 1 – 5, chef Gianni Mallao from the hotel Romazzino represented the Costa Smeralda at the GoodLife Festival at The Nile Ritz Carlton in Cairo, an experience that allowed him to work with culinary masters and award-winning mixologists from all over the world to present exclusive dinners, while in May, Harry’s Bar came from London, a must-attend event on Sardinia’s spring calendar.

The star of the 2019 Porto Cervo Wine & Food Festival were food and wine. “The wine of tomorrow: climatic changes, centennials and new marketing trends”: this was the mood of this year’s festival, now led by the director of Civiltà del bere, Alessandro Torcoli, who organized talk shows and seminars. Held from May 16 to 19 at the Cervo Conference Centre - aided by the excellent organization of the hotels Cala di Volpe, Romazzino, Pitrizza and Cervo - the 11th edition of the festival was an opportunity for participants to appreciate the best of Sardinian and Italian food and wine. Every day ended with fabled dinners and a gala dinner at the Hotel Cala di Volpe, during which one of the most renowned voices in Italian music performed: Malika Ayane. The festival was a platform for exchanges between producers and consumers, with events that took a hard look at the future of food and winemaking without losing sight of the most recent scientific discoveries that often tend to confirm the habits and customs of centuries of farmers and fishermen on the island. Porto Cervo Wine & Food presented big names and small producers (55 winemakers and 20 food companies) with an opportunity to meet an elite public of industry professionals, journalists, international buyers and loyal guests staying on the Costa Smeralda. The program included talks with experts and and tastings. The first day was dedicated to business, with “New Trends: Analysis and Proposals,” while on the 17th, the topic was “Sardinia Ready for Changes (Climatic Too), and Ideal Destination for Investments”. The third day was focused on “Mediterranean Cuisine: The Future on Our Table’’ and closed with “Centennials: Uses, Customs and Consumption of A Generation”.

Come è nato My Blend di Clarins? Così, nel 2007, crea My Blend.

Shiseido has been offering its concept of Japanese well-being and know-how for over 140 years. The art of hospitality and guest care are the values inherent to our brand, the same ones that inspire Cala di Volpe. Eastern philosophy and Shiseido: a winning combination… Entering into the world of Shiseido means discovering a universe that offers a luxurious and holistic experience, where every single detail is chosen to satisfy the client. To do this, Shiseido turns to the spirit of Japanese hospitality, known as Omotenashi, a difficult word to translate but which is interpreted with the heart; indeed, its gist is total devotion. Since 1986, we’ve adopted the “Qi method,” a holistic approach that combines the stimulation of tsubo and western massage techniques with Shiseido products to achieve excellent results. How will guests at the Shiseido spa be welcomed? Shiseido chose the splendid setting of Cala di Volpe as the location for its second spa in Italy. Inside, a double cabin will be available with the possibility of dividing it into two separate cabins in order to offer guests the highest quality experience. Many treatments are available that are based on the desired aim, be it face or body, for him or for her, offering guests a wonderful journey for the senses. Are there also treatments to prepare the skin for the sun? Preparing the skin for the sun is as important as protecting and restoring it during and after exposure. A world leader in suncare, the high quality of Shiseido sun cream allows you to protect your skin from harmful sunrays and extend your tan no matter the setting, be it the city with our Urban line or drenched in water and sweat with our

Respect for nature combined with cutting-edge technology in constant transformation is at the base of what makes Shiseido excellent. The perfect demonstration of this blend is the Future Solution LX line, which combines treatments with the power of the Enmei herb, a rare and precious herb found on Mount Koya. And it is precisely this premium line at the base of the luxury treatment Timeless Ritual. Your top-of-the-line products? Shiseido products are dedicated to all ages and needs. Our research can be seen in Bio Performance, the first line that changed skincare habits and which makes use of bio-technology for beauty treatments. In 2018, Shiseido adopted a new approach based on neuroscience, which has allowed us to study the connections between the skin and the brain, like the new line of anti-aging products Benefiance and Essential Energy. Lastly, Future Solution LX is at the centre of our premium category, which includes luxury products that reduce signs of aging. What would you suggest to guests to maintain this “vacation well-being”? In addition to face and body treatments that begin with a Japanese bath ceremony and includes a ritual to reawaken the flow of positive energy, guests can experiment with four different Journeys depending on the type of experience they want to have: relax, reawaken the senses, regain energy or improve the body. Designed as combinations of face and body skincare treatments, these packages are tailor-made and studied specifically to respond to the needs of each guest and offer an experience of total bliss.

A lovely summer holiday experience, to be enjoyed by the little guests of the Cala di Volpe, Pitrizza, Romazzino and Cervo hotels. An experience made possible through the partnership with the AS Roma football club, designed for children aged 6 to 13 who wish to play football during their holidays in Costa Smeralda. “We want the children to have fun and learn something-as Rome’s prestigious football club tell us-, which is why we selected our best sports technicians for the project. Our Cala di Volpe day camp allows children to train according to the age of each young athlete, learn the basics of football and some theory of football tactics and strategies”. AS Roma camps enjoy a well-established reputation: Cala di Volpe’s is the latest addition to the project, but there are many other camps throughout Italy and abroad. The summer camp is also suitable for beginners who are new to football, nonetheless they will train like professionals. Obviously, the training will be adapted individually depending on participants, but AS Roma’s camps adopt the same technical approach from youth to first team. They share everything at all levels, from fair play to the daily diet, because this is AS Roma’s trademark. The goal is to have fun during summer holidays , the summer camp project is part of a wider effort aimed at making Roma become everyone’s second-favorite football team across the world. It is definitely a lovely experience, which can change the children’s life positively forever.

EXPERIENCE

GENNARGENTU, THE MOUNTAIN ON SARDINIA WHERE YOU CAN GO SKIING IN THE WINTER

Two hours from the Costa Smeralda there is an unparalleled, charming mountain, where there’s nothing better than getting lost as you explore the ancient heart of Sardinia. We’re inland, on the highest mountain, Gennargentu, from the peaks of which - Punta La Marmora (1,834 metres) and Bruncu Spina (1,28 metres) - you can admire incredible views of the landscape below and, in the background, the sea. This is the only mountain on Sardinia where you can go skiing and snowboarding in the winter thanks to five runs on Bruncu Spina (two black, two red and one blue, which also serve as a training school), equipped with lifts. Construction is also about to finish on a state-of-the-art chair lift. For the rest of the year, the green lung of Sardinia is the preferred destination for hiking enthusiasts. Gennargentu is full of unique trails that wind past waterfalls, lakes and forests as they lead to the highest ridges on the mountain, exclusive places traversed only by the bravest shepherds until recently. This is where the millennia-old tradition of Sardinian pastoralism originated, as seen by historic barracos in the area, typical bivouacs made from stone and topped with wood shingled roofs that were used by shepherds as sheep pens during their summer migration. The thrill of coming across oak, juniper and yew trees and rare native plants like wild saffron, roses and milkvetch, whilst admiring golden eagles flying high above or a flock of wild mouflons, can’t be described with words. On the slopes of Gennargentu, 1,000 metres above sea level, sits the highest town on Sardinia, Fonni, a place worth visiting at any period of the year. The town centre, with low houses decorated with murals by Angelo Pilloni, vaunts attractions like the Sanctuary of San Cristoforo, with its aus-

tere three-arched facade, and the Basilica of Madonna dei Martiri, surrounded by cumbessìas, typical loggias that encircle many of the rural sanctuaries of Sardinia. The basilica boasts Baroque interiors and fresco decorations in the crypt depicting the story of the island’s Christianization. It is also worth visiting the 16th-century Church of San Giovanni Battista and the Museum of Pastoral Culture. Fonni is also popular for its culinary traditions, especially its sweets, like Fonni’s version of savoiardi, deliciously soft and aromatic. Then there’s Carasau bread, a crunchy puff pastry made from water and drum wheat flour produced in the area, as well all local cold cuts. Fonni hosts several traditional festivals and sagre: on January 16 and 17, the Festival of Sant’Antonio Abate, with the traditional lighting of the bonfire; Carnevale, brought to life by the famous Fonni masks and Holy Week celebrations; on the first Sunday in June, the Festival of Madonna dei Martiri, which culminates with a procession of men and women dressed in traditional costumes. On June 24, the Festival of San Giovanni Battista, dedicated to the town’s patron saint, with an evocative procession; and lastly, during weekend of 8 December, the Cortes Apertas event, a fascinating journey back in time, showcasing centuries-old trades, music, legends about Gennargentu and rural cuisine throughout the streets.

Un must dell’esclusività: raggiungere Nikki Beach Costa Smeralda è possibile solo in barca.

rant, relaxation areas, bar and beach with sunbeds and umbrellas. The Club features the six key elements of the Nikki Beach experience: music, entertainment, fashion, cinema, art and, above all, fine dining. The menu, which is based on the flavors and aromas of Mediterranean cuisine, includes the Nikki Beach’s signature dishes, in addition to sushi offerings made with the island’s freshly-caught fish and gourmet salads. A very successful format born in 1999, which recreates the atmosphere of an idyllic garden by the sea, all over the world and in Sardinia as well. Nikki Beach in Costa Smeralda has, however, some distinguishing features that makes it unique of its kind: an extraordinary view, the pink rocks and Sardinia’s crystal-clear waters. And last but not least, the only access is from the sea. The utmost in exclusivity: Nikki Beach Costa Smeralda is accessible only by boat. A shuttle service is, in fact, available for hotel guests on request.

Have you ever been to a place where nature is still untouched by man and seems to be suspended in time and space? Well, there are not many of them left, but some small gems can still be found and one of these is San Pantaleo, a village in the hinterland of Costa Smeralda, nestled in the “Sardinian Dolomites” of the Gallura region. An enchanted place, built around a rural church in the early 1800s, which is very proud of its uniqueness but welcomes visitors in an atmosphere of warm hospitality and rare simplicity of manners. Small stone houses taking on a red hue as the sun goes down, colorful shops, a lovely small main piazza which, on Thursdays, hosts the famous crafts market and which, throughout summer to early fall, is a lush display of oleander bushes ablaze with blossom. And the majestic mountains rising in the background, a scene of dream-like tranquility. It is not surprising that San Pantaleo has become home to a number of painters, sculptors and artisans: firstly many Sardinian master artisans and then famous artists who, starting from the sixties, were attracted to what became the worldwide re-

A brilliant mix of creativity and tradition which inspired Aga Khan in the construction of his own villa and each of the four hotels - Cala di Volpe, Pitrizza, Cervo and Romazzino - in order for them to capture as much of this wonderful land as possible. From the art of Sardinian textile weaving and embroidering of curtains and cushions to the weaving of various materials into bean bags or other furnishing objects, from leather upholstery- making to wooden and wrought iron chairs and chandeliers. Masterworks of high craftsmanship which become treasured mementos of that place. Such as the wrought-iron sculpture in which the lights over the Cala di Volpe’s conciergerie desk are installed. linas, è qui che Davide è cresciuto, avvolto dal calore della fonderia, che forse, prima dei metalli, ha forgiato lui stesso.

er, is much more than a blacksmith, he can be described as a master of the art of wrought-iron casting. Started in 1930 by Sebastiano Solinas, the workshop is the place where Davide grew up, bathing in the foundry’s heat, which forged him too, along with the metals. He inherited his father’s skill and passion. Among other things, Sebastiano made the Cala di Volpe’s 110 head-boards and who knows how many doorknobs for each of the 4 hotels. Davide, however, is no less skillful than his father and goes on creating for these temples of hospitality. His metal works are infused with unexpected softness and with a further personal touch, the use of bright oil paints. Davide actually performs magic: under all those iron filings and after all that noise and bad smell, here comes a beautiful piece of artwork that invites you to touch and caress it. Just outside of San Pantaleo is the home and workshop of another master artisan: Antonio Dettori. He

Today, his greatest passion is painting. Antonio’s style is inspired by the great Salvador Dalì. A sort of metaphysical surrealism, soul-soothing and eye-catching at the same time. Which is what we experienced while looking at the painting he was working on when we paid him a visit. The air was filled with the delicious smell of his wife’s cooking rising from the ground floor, all Sardinian specialties - culurgiones or cheese seadas, we wonder - while upstairs he was holding his inseparable palette in his hand. On the canvas, an hourglass, which recalls a theme that appealed to many illustrious minds, time, and below a human figure coming closer and growing older and older…

The two concerts are held in July and August against the stunning backdrop of the pool at Hotel Cala di Volpe, followed by spectacular a fireworks display that lights up the entire bay, and this year, they promise to be all the more exciting. These are evenings to experience and share, during which guests feel like the stars of a Hollywood film thanks to an engaging set design that connects every single element, crafting an irresistible atmosphere from beginning to end. Pronti a sognare?

Many other stars have made these evenings one-of-a-kind in recent years, like Elton John, or better yet, Rocketman, as he’s becoming known thanks to the recent release at the Cannes Film Festival of the musical biopic, its title inspired by his 1972 single. Other musicians have included Robbie Williams, a true phenom on the stage, Rick Martin, Mika, Jamiroquai, John Newman, Enrique Iglesias, and The Black Eyed Peas. And the stars of this year’s edition are certainly just as spectacular: on July 26th, Clean Bandit will take the stage, while the beautiful and rousing Jess Glynne and Rita Ora will perform on August 12th. In mid-August, Romazzino also becomes a hotspot for the jet setting crowd, with Midsummer Night. Following Al Bano’s performance for last year, great Italian music returns with the unmistakable voice of Nek. Are you ready to dream?

There is one day in life when you wish everything to be simply perfect, more than anything else. Whether you’ve been dreaming of it since childhood or not, one thing is clear: the moment you say “yes” to your husband-to-be, your mind begins racing with thoughts over the one thousand things you need to plan for your wedding day. The gown, make-up and hairdo, entertainment, a memorable way to break the news to family and dearest friends, who are the first names on your invitation list. And then your mind focuses on just one thing, which suddenly seems to be the most important of all: the wedding location. Miss Samira Jeihooni, the soon-to-be Mrs Samira Jeihooni-Tavakoli, spent two summers searching for the perfect wedding destination, travelling from Australia throughout Italy and the South of France. She was looking for a fairy-tale setting, in particular, a waterfront location, but also, of course, for an experienced team that would make her dream come true. And that’s where Sardinia and Hotel Romazzino come into the picture. “We wanted our wedding to take place over the course of four days and at four different venues, all holding the same caliber of beauty and elegance. And no other location could offer us as much in the way of beauty, elegance and service”. And so, four special venues: Hotel Romazzino, whose team took care of the wedding planning down to the smallest detail, - “We felt very lucky to be in their hands”Il Pescatore restaurant, Hotel Pitrizza and Nikki Beach. And four unforgettable events. Strobe lighting, DJ set and a nightclub-style mood for the event at Il Pescatore, Porto Cervo’s pied dans l’eau restaurant. At Il Pitrizza, a long table filled with bright fuchsia-colored flowers and candelabras overlooking

mare. “Abbiamo scelto i giardini dell’Hotel Romazzino. Intimi e poetici.

the ocean with live piano music in the background. The theme for the wedding day was romantic and elegant. “We chose the gardens as we felt the most privacy in that area. We used white drapes to soften the look for the reception dinner. Hurricane candles were set along all walkways and we had candles hanging from garden trees to build on our dreamy, enchanting mood. Our wedding arch was filled with pastel pinkish flowers and we had white tulips hanging down as well. We also had a live orchestra and tenor performing on the bridge above our gardens. But not while my 11-month-old son came down the aisle to the song Eye of the Tiger in a remote-controlled Maserati car!”. The end result was an emotional ceremony that had guests laughing and crying at the same time. Not to mention the wedding banquet and delicious dishes prepared by Hotel Romazzino’s chef, which met everyone’s expectations, as usual. Just like the wedding cake. “It was a traditional sponge cake that was moist and made to our specific liking”. Last but not least, the recovery brunch, the Nikki Beach club’s white, thin sandy beach and guests jumping off the boat and swimming to the shore as the sun was setting. “We can’t wait to come back to celebrate our anniversary!”.

Hospitality without borders, timeless and free of compromise, dedicated to the constant search for excellence and attention to detail, without ever settling for what is: the Costa Smeralda grows ever more ambitious, and thanks to its vitality and continuous evolution, it is now focused on reaching Millennials and Generation Z through revitalizing the destination, extending the season, creating events and involving exclusive brands, all with an eye towards varying activities and initiatives, touching upon everything from lifestyle to wellness. Smeralda Holding – the Italian company overseen by the sovereign wealth fund Qatar Investment Authority and owner of important real estate and lands along the Costa Smeralda since 2012 – continues to grow thanks to an increase in interest for Sardinia, with visitor numbers rising year after year. The company closed out 2018 with, for the first time in its history, 103 million euro in revenue and an EBITDA of 31 million euro. “We’re very proud of our results,” declared CEO Mario Ferraro when speaking to Cosmho, “both in terms of revenue and visitor numbers. The company’s 2018-2022 business plan is only at the beginning, but the response in all four of our hotels (Cala di Volpe, Cervo, Pitrizza and Romazzino) has already proved promising.” The business plan includes big changes in the 2019 season: Cala di Volpe is reopening after important renovations - ten suites, corridors and a lobby designed by Bruno Moinard and Claire Betaille (4BI & Associés), the creation of the Wellness SPA Shiseido designed by Luca Zaniboni & Rodolfo Dordoni and the grand opening of the restaurant Matsuhisa fol-

The Costa Smeralda has the excellent opportunity to reaffirm and strengthen its leadership as a top destination for elite international jetsetters. “We’re a place of hospitality, of the bella vita, of art, history, culture and nature,” said Ferraro. “Well-structured and well-managed tourism – with a collaboration between public and private – can truly be an extraordinary occasion to create jobs and development. I believe, also in my role as Vice-President of the tourism branch of the Confindustria Centro Nord Sardegna, that we must work to create something that meets the demands of every level of the market, with a variety of accommodations as well as services and products that respond to the new trends in global tourism.”

The complete program includes DJ sets, cabarets, book presentations and various initiatives dedicated to children, meeting the demand for an ever more kid-friendly Costa Smeralda. Another innovation this year is the total redesign and reorganization of Waterfront’s digital channels, giving all participating brands the chance to offer their own content on both the website (waterfrontcostasmeralda.com) and the Instagram page every day. The website’s new features allow a greater number of users to be reached, as well as for their timely and captivating engagement in the presentation of the offers and initiatives that can be found in every pod.
