VELASCO AND RUBIO MEET TO RENEW MEXICO–U.S. DIPLOMATIC DIALOGUE • Mexico and the United States advanced diplomatic engagement this week as Foreign Affairs Secretary Roberto Velasco met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington. The meeting focused on security and migration, with both governments presenting different emphases regarding progress and outstanding challenges. Mexico highlighted advances in combating drug and arms trafficking and transnational organized crime, while reiterating that bilateral cooperation should be based on sovereignty, mutual trust, shared responsibility, and collaboration without subordination.
• The U.S. side emphasized the need for further action to curb irregular migration, fentanyl and other illicit drug trafficking, and the activities of cartels and foreign terrorist organizations. The differing messages underscore that, despite renewed dialogue, Washington continues to press Mexico for concrete results on security priorities. SOURCE: EL PAÍS, MINISTRY OF FOREIGN RELATIONS

GUANAJUATO Guanajuato Puerto Interior marked its 20th anniversary with the third GPI Talks event in Celaya, bringing together over 100 industry leaders to discuss the future of the Laja-Bajío region. Speakers addressed three themes: the need to develop local suppliers to capture the roughly 201 billion pesos in inputs the region currently imports from outside Guanajuato; 2027 as a coming inflection point for the North American auto industry driven by trade shifts, electrification, and AI, with Guanajuato already leading the region in investment projects and electromobility companies; and the planned Puerta Logística Bajío, a rail-connected intermodal logistics hub (a joint venture between Grupo AZVI and Guanajuato Puerto Interior) set for construction through 2026-2028. The shared takeaway: growth will depend less on new infrastructure alone and more on connecting the region’s existing industrial capacity, talent, and suppliers. SOURCE: CLUSTER INDUSTRIAL

QUERETARO Querétaro’s industrial inventory reached 8.8 million m² in July 2026, a 5% annual increase equivalent to more than 400,000 m² added over the past year, according to real estate data provider Solili. Growth continues to be driven by manufacturing and logistics activity, as well as demand from companies looking to establish or expand operations in the state. Industrial space is concentrated in three main corridors: México-Querétaro (32% of inventory), Querétaro-San Luis Potosí (30%), and Aeropuerto (29%), which together hold about 91% of the state’s total industrial footprint, while the 5 de Febrero and San Juan del Río corridors account for the remaining 8%.
At the same time, construction of new industrial space fell 40% year-over-year, suggesting developers are pulling back even as absorption remains strong — a trend that could moderate the pace of new supply in the coming months. With its 8.8 million m² of inventory, Querétaro represents close to 8% of Mexico’s total industrial real estate market, keeping it among the country’s leading industrial hubs, though analysts note that how demand and available space in the top corridors evolve will determine whether the construction slowdown starts putting pressure on availability.
