Medidas que ha implementado el Gobierno de Yucatán

Debido a que el semáforo epidemiológico de Yucatán se encuentra en color naranja, el Gobierno del Estado implementó algunas restricciones ante el incremento de contagios en territorio yucateco.

• Desde el 10 de junio, se implementa la restricción vehicular nocturna para toda la semana a partir de las 23:30 pm hasta las 5:00 hrs.

• Se incrementa la capacidad a 8 personas para embarcaciones menores a 40 pies y, para las mayores a este tamaño, se incrementa a 10 personas.

• Todos los establecimientos que en la actualidad están permitidas, podrán laborar sin restricción de horario, a excepción de los restaurantes que pueden trabajar antes de las 11:30 de la noche.

• Se permitirá el 40% de aforo para los eventos deportivos profesionales en espacios abiertos.

• Los aforos de restaurantes y centros religiosos pasarán de 75% a 50% de aforo. • Las licencias de bares y centros nocturnos que se encontraban operando como restaurantes serán suspendidas.

• Los menores de 15 años podrán realizar actividades artísticas y deportivas bajo los aforos y días actualmente permitidos. • Revisión y filtros en el Aeropuerto de Mérida para vuelos del extranjero y revisión en vuelos nacionales. • Instalación de filtros para revisión

de todos los pasajeros en las terminales de camiones CAME-ADO. • Algunas zonas arqueológicas de Yucatán están abiertas al público. +INFO Rutas turísticas y Arqueología. • De igual manera, los museos y galerías están abiertas para recibir visitantes. +INFO Arte y Cultura. Coins of the Henequén (Sisal) Haciendas

Haciendas in Yucatán often minted their own coins used in payment for work performed. Workers were paid in coins, that could be used a company stores. The coins had legends telling of the work performed.

Monedas de las haciendas henequeneras

En las haciendas henequeneras circularon fichas que sirvieron como moneda de pago por el trabajo prestado. A los trabajadores se les entregaba una ficha de metal con una leyenda relativa a la labor realizada. Las fichas ostentaban generalmente en el anverso, algún diseño relativo a la explotación del henequén, con el nombre o las iniciales del dueño de la hacienda o el nombre de esta última. Al reverso, un número representaba la cantidad de trabajo prestado. Las fichas eran pagadas generalmente en la tienda de raya de la hacienda, donde gastaban sus jornales a cambio de víveres y otros productos de la canasta básica, creando así en la mayoría de los casos un endeudamiento entre los trabajadores y patrones. Las fichas que circulaban en las haciendas henequeneras eran fabricadas de diferentes materiales como el latón, níquel, aluminio, zinc, bronce, por mencionar algunos. Por ejemplo, las monedas de la Hacienda Aké se manufacturaban sobre una delgada lámina de hojalata o zinc. Las monedas más sencillas estaban acuñadas sólo en una cara, con el

número de pencas cortadas o de la actividad que había realizado el peón, y en ocasiones solamente se marcaban con puntos. Era normal que las fichas tuvieran agujeros para que pasaran una cuerda para que el manejo y almacenamiento de éstas fuera fácil. En el lado principal de la moneda (anverso) estaba grabado el nombre de la hacienda, y el del dueño, e imágenes que hacían alusión al henequén o de animales, aves o insectos. A veces se grababa la fecha en que fue acuñada. Al reverso, se mostraba el valor de la ficha del antiguo sistema métrico decimal y colonial. De igual manera, se representaban pencas cortadas, actividades, etc. Las fichas de las haciendas dejaron de usarse en 1915, a consecuencia de un decreto que tenía como objeto devolver la libertad a los peones y evitar que se les explotara.

The coins generally displayed on the obverse, a design evocative of the cultivation of henequén (sisal), with the name or initials or name of the hacienda owner. On the obverse side of the coin, the name of hacienda as well as the owner was often engraved, including images that alluded to the henequén cactus, or of other animals, birds or insects. Sometimes the date it was struck was engraved. On the reverse, the value of the token of the old colonial and decimal metric system was shown. Often, there were representations of cut cactus leaves, hacienda activities, and so on. Haciendas stopped issuing their own currency in 1915, as a result of a federal decree that was intended to restore freedom to the laborers and prevent them from being exploited. Cenote San Ignacio

En una aventura más junto con Explore Yucatán, nos dirigimos al Cenote San Ignacio ubicado en Chocholá y a tan solo 40 minutos de Mérida. El Gerente General Carlos y el personal nos recibieron con los brazos abiertos quienes nos atendieron de maravilla, ¡pasamos un día divertido!

l Cenote San Ignacio es un lugar precioso y perfecto para una familia, el cenote es pequeño y de fácil acceso, por lo que los niños pueden nadar sin complicaciones para que todos puedan vivir una bonita experiencia. También las parejas pueden asistir y disfrutar del cenote. Este imperdible destino ecoturístico cuenta con el Restaurante Xtabentún, donde el Chef David Luna cocina exquisita comida yucateca. Por su parte, Doña Conchita siempre está preparando tortillas a mano, los visitantes pueden ver su proceso de elaboración de este alimento. Tienen un horno de tierra que les sirve para preparar uno de sus platillos que ofrecen en su menú: el pollo pibil. Es un sitio demasiado bonito y acogedor, ya que tiene una piscina, palapas habilitadas para que puedas comer y hamacas colgadas por si quieres descansar. Incluso, hay un árbol grande de Ceiba que es sumamente bellísimo. En la parte trasera se encuentran unas cabañas preciosas que tienen un estilo de las casas tradicionales mayas, ideales para alojar a una familia pequeña, a una pareja o a una persona. En las suites hay un jacuzzi, aunque en algunas cabañas más sencillas no la tienen, sin embargo, son bellísimas y acogedoras para hospedarse. Carlos nos comentó que están agrandando y acondicionando el lugar porque próximamente estarán disponibles una tirolesa y otras atracciones para que los turistas tengan un día inigualable. El Cenote San Ignacio es muy cómodo, organizado y seguro, aquí podrás conocer a gente del pueblo, debido a que una gran mayoría de 4

The General Manager Carlos and the staff welcomed us with open arms. They took great care of us, and we had a fun day! The Cenote San Ignacio is a beautiful and perfect place for a family outing. The cenote—a natural freshwater sinkhole—is small and easily accessible; children can swim without any difficulty, making this a place where the entire family can have a beautiful experience. Also, couples can attend and enjoy the cenote, of course. The destination that one simply cannot miss has to be the Xtabentún Restaurant, where Chef David Luna cooks exquisite Yucatecan food. For her part, Doña Conchita is always making tortillas by hand. Restaurant patrons can see the process of making this staple of the Maya diet.

There’s also an earth oven that is used to make one of the dishes offered on their menu that is quintessential to the region: chicken pibil. It is a very nice and cozy place, since it has a swimming pool, thatch-roof palapas that allow one to eat—and then rest in the hammocks. There is even an enormous Ceiba tree, sacred to the Maya, which is extremely beautiful. In the back there are some adorable cabins that have a style of traditional Maya houses, ideal to accommodate a small family, a couple or even a single guest. The suites boast jacuzzis, although in some more modest cabins without them. All the cabins, however, they are beautiful and cozy for a stay.

Carlos told us that they are expanding the facilities with one improvement being the installation of a zip line, among other attractions. These will make your visit truly unique. The Cenote San Ignacio is very comfortable, well coordinated, and a solid experience. Here, you can local people, because a large majority of the employees are from Chocholá. Convento de San Miguel Arcángel, Maní Perteneciente a la “Ruta de los Conventos”, en Maní se encuentra el Convento de San Miguel de Arcángel” construida entre los siglos XVI y XVII con piedras de los antiguos yacimientos arqueológicos que fueron colocadas por 6,000 tutul xiues, siendo fundada en 1549 por el Arq. Fray Juan de Mérida, quien también se encargó del diseño de los Conventos de San Antonio de Padua y San Bernardino de Siena, situadas en Izamal y Valladolid, respectivamente, por lo que este convento es el tercero en su tipo en territorio yucateco.

Jorge Ermilo Espinosa Torre CONECTÁNDOSE Y HABLANDO CON EL MUNDO A TRAVÉS DE SUS PINTURAS Siendo nieto del aclamado pintor yucateco, Ermilo Torre Gamboa, el joven yucateco y también artista visual, Jorge Ermilo Espinosa Torre, nos concedió una entrevista y nos platicó sobre su trayectoria, su estilo en la cual se especializa, sus influencias, etc. Durante su infancia comenzó a realizar sus primeros dibujos que fueron los personajes de sus caricaturas favoritas. Al mostrar su capacidad en esta actividad, su familia lo felicitaba y entre broma decían “va a ser pintor como su abuelo” a quien por cierto admira inmensamente. Sin embargo, a Jorge se le quedó ese comentario en su mente, lo sentía como un halago y piensa que fue una de las primeras semillitas que derivaron en que comenzará a pintar.

Sus primeros cuadros que pintó de manera autodidacta los realizó entre los 12 y 13 años de edad, pues no había tenido el tiempo de tomar clases con su abuelo a pesar de que lo había visto pintar. Tiempo después, cuando regresó a Mérida a los 16 años de edad, finalmente tomó lecciones con su abuelo y participó en su primera colectiva realizada por el MACAY en su décimo aniversario. Actualmente se especializa en el hiperrealismo por gusto, pero nunca con el afán de aferrarse en un hiperrealismo estricto, dándole mucho espacio a la libertad. Convento de San Miguel de Arcángel | Convent of San Miguel de Arcángel Perteneciente a la “Ruta de los Conventos”, el Convento de San Miguel de Arcángel fue construido entre los siglos XVI y XVII con piedras de antiguos yacimientos arqueológicos, siendo fundada en 1549 por el Arq. 8

Fray Juan de Mérida. A un costado de la entrada principal hay una capilla abierta, integrado a la fachada del claustro mediante un arco de medio punto. En la plaza de este convento ocurrió el suceso conocido como “El Auto de Fe” el 12 de julio de 1562 cometido por Fray Diego de Landa. Belonging to the “Route of the Convents,” the Convent of San Miguel de Arcángel was built between the 16th and 17th centuries with stones from ancient archaeological sites. Fray Juan de Mérida founded the convent in 1549. There’s an open chapel to the side of the main entrance that is integrated into the façade of the cloister by means of a semicircular arch. An ominous event known as the “Auto da Fe” took place in the square of this convent on July 12, 1562 at the direction of Fray Diego de Landa.

Hacia el sur del convento se sitúa el cenote Xcabachén (pozo bajo). De acuerdo con una leyenda, este pozo natural será la única cavidad que contendrá agua cuando haya sequía en el mundo, el cual será repartida por una X nuuk (mujer vieja) y una serpiente.

¿Cómo puedo asistir? Puedes adquirir tus boletos sin costo alguno en el módulo del Centro Cultural Olimpo de martes a viernes de 10:00 a 20:00 hrs., pidiendo como máximo 4 boletos por persona. Cabe recalcar que ambos eventos son con cupo limitado, por lo que solamente hay 200 boletos disponibles por evento. Durante la realización de estos espectáculos

RECETA Ingredientes • 1 pollo entero. •3 tomates rojos. • 2 pza de Chile dulce. • 1 pza de cebolla morada. •1 pza de chile xcatic. • Un ramito de epazote. • 100 gr de recado rojo. • 2 naranjas agrias (jugo). • Sal al gusto. • Hoja de plátano.

Nuestros amigos del Restaurante Xtabentún del Cenote San Ignacio cuentan con un exquisito menú con los platillos más representativos de la gastronomía yucateca que deleitarán tu paladar, además de bebidas naturales y cócteles tropicales que te refrescarán en esta temporada de calor. Después de nadar en el cenote, te recomendamos que pruebes alguno de sus deliciosos manjares.

Preparación 1) Lavar y cortar en 4 el pollo. 2) Licuar el achiote con el jugo de naranja y sal. 3) Lavar y filetear las verduras. 4) Cortar en trozos grandes la hoja de plátano. 5) Marinar el pollo con el achiote y colocar sobre la hoja de plátano, enseguida agravar la cebolla, el chile dulce, chile xcatic, tomate y el epazote. 6) Envolver y colocarlo en un inserto para hornear por hora y media. 7) Servir el pollo pibil con arroz, cebolla curtida y plátanos fritos. ¡Disfruta!

Desserts for the summer heat Ante la inminente llegada del calor, te recomendamos los siguientes postres para que te mantengas refrescado en esta época del año durante tu visita a Yucatán. POLLO PIBIL RECIPE Ingredients • 1 whole chicken. • 3 red tomatoes. • 2 bell peppers. • 1 red onion. • 1 xcatic chili. • 1 sprig of epazote. • 100 grams of achiote paste. •2 sour oranges (juice). • Salt to taste. • Banana leaf. Las zonas arqueológicas de la Ruta Puuc están cerradas al público hasta nuevo aviso, a excepción de Uxmal. The archaeological sites of the Puuc Route are closed to the public until further notice, with the exception of Uxmal.

REGIÓN “PUUC” (Cerro o serranía): Sus habitantes asentados en tierra roja y fértil, desarrollaron una cultura muy propia. Su arquitectura destaca por su forma simple, planos alargados, columnas sólo ornamentales, rica y elaborada decoración de piedras formando mosaicos; casi excluye la figura humana, sobresale casi con obsesión CHAAK (dios de la lluvia) que es representado tanto con la trompa hacia arriba, petición, como hacia abajo, agradecimiento, con visión Estético-Religiosa del que dependían sus cosechas y su agua potable, almacenada en CHULTUNES (cisternas) creados por ellos. Entre en íntimo contacto con ellos y la naturaleza.

GRUTAS LOLTÚN (Flor de piedra): En el acceso NAHCAB (colmena) lo recibirá el bajorrelieve de EL GUERRERO DE LOLTÚN, dios que emerge del inframundo. En

visita guiada asómbrese con formaciones abovedadas, estalactitas y estalagmitas; bóvedas como LA CATEDRAL, impresionante, LA MAZORCA, EL CAÑÓN de gigantescas rocas. LAS COLUMNAS MUSICALES destacan el sonido “Loltún” al ser golpeadas; LOS HALTUNES (sartenes) con agua fresca y rebosante. Pinturas rupestres de manos, animales y rostros. Fue un refugio durante la Guerra de Castas. Otras galerías y cámaras, completan un recorrido en el espléndido conjunto de Loltún. Las Grutas de Loltún permanecerán cerradas debido a que se están realizando reparaciones y adecuaciones.
