he “Magical Town” of Valladolid is abuzz with its traditional Expo Fair that will take place from January 25th through February 10th. There will be performances by important musical groups, as well as cultural and artistic events for all ages. The festivities kick off on January 12 with the Gastronomic Festival, “Roots of the Mayab”, where you will taste delicious typical Yucatecan dishes, there will be guided tours of the stands, and you will also enjoy the folkloric ballet perform and videomapping . On January 20th, the traditional Convite in the lower part of the Municipal Palace is presented to the public. Don´t miss the opportunity to enjoy the colonial party of Yucatán.

l pueblo mágico de Valladolid se engalana con la tradicional Expo Feria que se llevará a cabo del 25 de enero al 10 de febrero, con las presentaciones de agrupaciones importantes, eventos culturales y artísticos para todas las edades. Antes de dar inicio a la feria, el 12 de enero comienzan las festividades con el Festival Gastronómico, “Raíces del Mayab”, donde se degustará de deliciosos platillos típicos de Yucatán, habrá recorridos en los stands, además disfrutarás del ballet folklórico y del videomapping. El 20 de enero se presenta la tradicional Convite en los bajos del Palacio Municipal. No te pierdas la oportunidad de disfrutar de la fiesta colonial de Yucatán.

bicada en la calle 60 entre la calle 55 a tres esquinas de la Catedral, está el Parque de Santa Lucía, la más antigua de Mérida junto con la Plaza Grande.

Aprecia la belleza de la Iglesia y toma muchas selfies en la silla a gran escala de los confidentes o conocido como tú y yo, llévate un pequeño recuerdo de la Ciudad al tomarte la fotografía. Santa Lucía es el lugar de congregación de turistas y personas locales. Los jueves se presentan conjuntos musicales para interpretar de la romántica y hermosa trova yucateca a partir de las 9 de la noche.

l Carnaval de Mérida es la fiesta más esperada del año y representa una de las tradiciones con mayor arraigo entre los yucatecos. El Nuevo Carnaval busca darle una nueva identidad al evento más grande de la Ciudad con base en un rediseño con nuevas atracciones y zonas de esparcimiento en Plaza Carnaval así como la presentación de espectáculos de primer nivel y una atractiva cartelera de conciertos con artistas de talla nacional e internacional.

El tema de este año es Flora y Fauna, con el cual se pretende aprovechar el alcance e importancia del evento para dar un mensaje ecológico en medio de la fiesta y aportar algo más que la diversión: un carnaval con contenido, tratando de generar conciencia de forma alegre y creativa en el Pabellón Sustentable dentro de Plaza Carnaval.

Entre otras innovaciones para este año destacan Chiquiland (Zona Infantil), Mercado Carnaval (Zona para emprendedores), Zona de deportes extremos, la Gran Vaquería (Lunes Regional), las mega carpas para sombra en los desfiles y los espectáculos musicales “Sonidos del Corazón” y “Mayá y la semilla de la sabiduría”.

Aunque las fechas oficiales son del 27 de febrero al 6 de marzo, el Carnaval de Mérida 2019 inicia con tres eventos de coronación en distintos puntos de la Ciudad.

The New Carnival aims to rebrand the largest event in the city. Redesigned and boasting new attractions and recreation areas in the venue, Plaza Carnival, the New Carnival offers top-level shows and an attractive billboard of concerts with national and internacional artists.

This year's theme is Flora and Fauna, which aims to take advantage of the scope and importance of the event to give an ecological message in the middle of the Fiesta and contribute more than fun: a carnival with message, trying to generate awareness in a cheerful and creative way, featured in the Sustainable Pavilion inside Plaza Carnival.

Other innovations for this year include Chiquiland (Children's Area), Carnival Market (Area for entrepreneurs and vendors), Extreme Sports Zone, the Gran Vaquería (Monday Regional Rodeo), mega tents provide shade during the parades, and the musical shows “Sonidos del Corazón” (Sounds of the Heart”) and “Mayá y la Semilla de la Sabiduría” (“Maya and the Seed of Wisdom.”

Although the official dates are from February 27 through March 6, the Mérida Carnival 2019 begins with three prior coronation events in different parts of the City.

1. PASEO DE MONTEJO: -calle 47 con 58- Su construcción se inició en 1897 y concluyó a principios del Siglo XX. Es la más amplia y bella avenida de Mérida y una de las más hermosas de México. / (Calle 58 and Calle 47): Its construction began in 1897 and concluded in the early years of the twentieth century. It is the largest and most beautiful boulevard in Mérida and one of the most beautiful in Mexico.

Este palacio construido por el arquitecto italiano Enrico Deserti, también constructor del teatro “Peón Contreras”, es de los más admirables de Mérida. a palabra Cuxtal proviene del maya y su significado es vida o nacimiento. La Reserva Ecológica de Cuxtal es el sitio ideal para las actividades recreativas y ecoturísticas. Recorre la Hacienda Dzoyaxché en un paseo a través del truck, los niños se divertirán en el parque y aprecia la hermosura del cenote Dzonot Ich. Si deseas acampar, lo puedes hacer con el precio accesible de 12 pesos. La reserva tiene palapas habilitadas como áreas de comer y de baños para cambiarse después de bañarse en el chapoteadero. The Ecological Reserve of Cuxtal is the ideal place for recreational and ecotourism activities. Tour the Hacienda Dzoyaxché aboard the “truck”--a horse-drawn wagon—which is delight for children. It is an ideal way to have fun in the park and appreciate the beauty of the Dzonot Ich, cenote, or natural sink hole. If you want to camp, you can do it; the nominal fee is $12 pesos. The reserve has palapas, thatch roof seating areas, as well as designated places for picnicking and enjoying the wading pool, with ample changing rooms. You will momentarily relive the era of Yucatán´s “Green Gold” beholding the machines that processed henequen, or sisal, until obtaining fiber (sosquil).

The mission of Cuxtal is to teach about the care, preservation, and awareness of mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles, and plants.

La respetuosa y sabia relación con la naturaleza, convirtieron a los mayas en grandes astrónomos que hasta hoy en día observarás en el edificio denominado “EL TEMPLO DE LAS 7 MUÑECAS”, nombre que recibe por que en su interior encontraron 7 ofrendas de muñecas. El edificio está perfectamente alineado con los puntos cardinales, cuyas fachadas anterior y posterior tienen una puerta, 2 ventanas, mediante las cuales se genera un extraordinario fenómeno de luz durante los EQUINOCCIOS DE PRIMAVERA Y DE OTOÑO: “Kin (El Sol) se posesiona del Templo a través del espacio hueco de sus puertas, y marcos que le dan un reverencial abrazo”. Suba las es-

calinatas y disfrute de la belleza del templo, y siente su energía. Contemple “LA CAPILLA ABIERTA” de la época colonial con su santuario de bóveda corrida. Recorra los edificios, admire la Pirámide más larga del Mundo Maya.

El Cenote “XLAKÁH” (Poblado Viejo), proveía de agua a la población, además fue centro de ritos religiosos. ¡Sumérjase en sus Frescas y Milenarias Aguas Sagradas!

Dzibilchaltún tiene un PARADOR TURISTICO, librería, artesanías, y baños para cambiarse de ropa después de nadar en el hermoso cenote. Está abierto todos los días del año de 8:00 am a 5:00 pm. La tarifa para visitantes nacionales es de $107 pesos, y extranjeros en $139 pesos (incluye la visita del museo y cenote Xlakáh). Los domingos el acceso es totalmente gratuito para turistas nacionales presentando

su identificación. De lunes a sábado se aplican descuentos a estudiantes, maestros y personas de la tercera edad con su credencial vigente.

PROGRESO. Fundada el 1 de julio de 1871 en la categoría de pueblo, pero pierde esa etiqueta el 9 de enero de 1875 al convertirse en villa.

Su suelo marino y baja profundidad impedía el arribo de grandes embarcaciones, sin embargo no fue obstáculo para el emprendedor pueblo yucateco al construir el muelle conocido como “PUERTO DE ALTURA”, prodigio de ingeniería marítima siendo el muelle más largo de México. The church of San Miguel, with an elegant façade, is flanked by bell towers. It preserves beautiful altarpieces, El Mayor, San Antonio, La Asunción, La Virgen de la Luz, all of which date from the

seventeenth century. Its OPEN CHAPEL, the first in Yucatán, has dimensions similar to the temple. It is here that Fray Diego de Landa, blinded by his evangelizing zeal, ordered to destruction of hundreds wooden Maya idols and burned 17 codices. Denounced by the Bishop Francisco Toral, Landa was ordered to record as much of Maya history as he could, and he produced “Relación de las cosas de Yucatán,” or “An Account of the Things of the Yucatán.” Visit Maní from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. UXMAL. The name means “Three Times Built.” This is one of the most important archaeological sites in Mexico and the world, a World Heritage Site. It is the purest jewel and example of Puuc architecture. With more than 150 buildings, the ceremonial center is beautiful and carefully restored. The entrance to the ceremonial center is up a challenging incline leading to the CHULTÚN (cistern) used to collect rainwater, store food or ferment alcoholic beverages. THE PYRAMID OF THE MAGICIAN, or the Dwarf, has rounded corners, cut stones, and stairways.

The walls of the façade are shaped with lattices of rocks, and Chaac faces which frame the door. In the QUADRANGLE OF THE NUNS there are four imposing buildings in the central courtyard. The entrance is through an arch. The walls are made of stones carved into lattices and panels. Visitors can see figures of carvings of huts with feather roofs, birds, monkeys, intertwined snakes, and the omnipresent figure of Chaac.

Its decoration is fine and rich: more than 20,000 stones were carved, majestic and of harmonic proportions. Figures of Chaac are embraced by lattices that form rattlesnakes, a symbol of the sun. In the upper part of the doorway one sees throne and the King with a magnificent plume. His eyes shine proportionately to his beauty.

The TEMPLE OF THE TURTLES is a symbol of longevity. THE TEMPLE OF THE PHALLUS is not erotic although its name would so suggest, but on the contrary, it is a symbol of fertility. The GRAND PYRAMID is majestic and ideal for its height, perfect to admire the horizon, without leaving aside the PALOMAR and more. The best way to conclude the visit to this archaeological site, is to attend at night in the spectacular “Light and Sound” show held in the mystic Quadrangle of the Nuns. This is an opportunity to admire spectacular architectural style of the haciendas and its environs.
