INNOVATION

Unmistakably a British success story, loved around the world.

From the north of Canada to the southern tip of New Zealand and most places in between Grubs® is sold through the best outdoor and country retailers. People are often shocked that this global brand has its home and its roots in a small town in the northwest of England.

My family have lived in Bolton for over six generation, though we can trace them further back to Nottingham, Bolton is our home. Most people in the local area know of us: My great grandfather’s factory at the bottom of Deane Road, My grandfather’s shop on Mornington Road, opposite Bolton Grammar School.

More widely known is the company founded by my uncle and father, Reebok. I started to work there in 1983 and handmade shoes for world record breaking athletes, designed running shoes, tennis, and cricket shoes, even their first range of football boots tested by the team at Bolton Wanderers. It was the then American distributor of Reebok, later owner, who insisted that we put a union flag on the end of Reebok, “So people know we’re British”.

The world has turned many times since then, but those words stuck in my head and with the changes in our market over the last few years, Grubs® has become the only British, family owned, maker of Rubber boots and its something we’re rather proud of. To celebrate we have reworked our logo and packaging to reflect that we are from Bolton, England and that we have been making footwear since 1776.

You will see this new branding start to appear on our product, its subtle and elegant. You will also see a more marked change to our classic Rainline™ and Highline™ models. Gone is the rubber bellows to be replaced by a copyrighted© and design protected, full-length FLEX-PANEL™, that allows the boots to fit wider calves, they also have a 2mm kiss of our famous INSUFOAMULTRA™ for those cold mornings.

We’ve also been busy with our leather range, TYPHOON™, TORNADO™ and TEMPEST™ available in classic mahogany and new crazy horse tan colors, the safety models feature a TPU toecap and a nitrile rubber outsole for top slip resistance. All have the legendary Grubs’ comfort.

GRUBS ® TECHNOLOGY

We develop all GRUBS® boots based on four brand attributes: comfort, grip, warmth and waterproof.

All GRUBS® boots have these unique selling points making them superior products.

COMFORT

• Stretch boot shaft made from INSUFOAM-ULTRA™ allows the boot to fit almost any calf.

• 6mm NITROCELL™ footbed provides soft underfoot cushioning for an athletic shoe feel.

• HEXZORB™ technology absorbs heel strike shock for day long comfort.

• SUPERDRI™ lining wicks moisture away from the wearer’s foot to prevent a sweaty and uncomfortable feel, it is fungus and rot proof so will not smell like cotton lined boots.

GRIP

• Our range of soles are designed to give sure-footed grip on a range of surfaces.

WARMTH

• 6mm NITROCELL™ footbed has millions of microscopic nitrogen bubbles that insulate the wearer from cold surfaces.

• 4.0 and 5.0 Technology. The full bootie lining wraps the entire foot in 5mm INSUFOAM-ULTRA™ for a comfort range of +20°c to -20°c.

• 8.5 Technology. The full bootie lining wraps the entire foot in 8.5mm INSUFOAM-ULTRA™ with the addition of our 3mm HIGHLOFT™ space insulation for a comfort range of +10°c to -40°c

WATERPROOF

• Double tested in production at bootie and final quality check, all our boots are waterproof to the very top.

HEXZORB™ TECHNOLOGY FOR SHOCK ABSORPTION

• A hexagonal shock-absorbing component is directly moulded into the heel of the outsole, to dissipate shockwaves travelling up through the wearer’s leg.

SUPERLITE®

• This design is a seamless rubber shell and outsole combined together making it 30% lighter and more streamline than other standard boots. Testers have racked up 14,000 miles, testing the SUPERLITE® technology to make sure it withstands our brand attributes.

Our safety boots are the next step in innovation. Grub’s were the first to create the CERAMIC SAFETY TOE that complies with BS EN ISO 203450 S5. This feature will make the boots lighter in weight, doesn’t conduct electricity and in winter are warmer than standard steel toe caps.
