The Career Services Office (CSO) is eager to partner with faculty members throughout the school year to help our students develop in their career readiness and ultimately pursue their unique callings in the world.

We welcome you to review the following options for partnering with the CSO and look forward to collaborating with you to better meet the needs of our students.

PARTNERSHIP OPTIONS SCHEDULE A CSO PRESENTER

Consider inviting a CSO staff member (your liaison) into your class to speak on various career-related topics (particularly if you foresee needing to cancel a class). Simply email us at career@gcc.edu and we can check our schedule availability. Please allow at least two weeks' notice and do note that presentation lengths can vary to best suit your needs. Additionally, we are happy to present to student professional organizations that you advise.

PROMOTE SCHEDULED EVENTS

We greatly appreciate your help promoting CSO events occurring during the school year to aid in the professional development of our students. All CSO events can be found on myGCC in the Career Services calendar.

SHARE & INTEGRATE CAREER RESOURCES

The CSO has a variety of career resources to help students as they explore career options, such as PathwayU (self-assessments and career/industry exploration platform), Big Interview (virtual interviewing platform which includes industryspecific questions) and What Can I Do With This Major - some of which are available on the Faculty tab on myGCC. These resources can be helpful to you in advising sessions with students. You may also want to consider integrating them into class assignments where appropriate. Moreover, we have access to alumni resources to help students research/connect with GCC alumni in fields of interest.

DIRECT STUDENTS TO HANDSHAKE

Handshake (gcc.joinhandshake.com) is the CSO’s online career management system – our hub for everything we do. On the platform, students can access career resources, jobs & internships with thousands of employers all across the country and from various sectors, on-campus/online interview schedules, events and more. Through Handshake, students can receive customized content based on their specific career interests/goals.

CONNECT WITH YOUR CSO LIAISON

The CSO has designated staff members to serve as point people for each of our departments on campus. We are eager to support your department through providing industry/field-specific resources & programs (e.g., panels, special speakers, alumni & employer guests). Reach out to the Chair of your department to get connected with your assigned CSO Liaison.

UPDATE THE CSO

We encourage our faculty to share employer connections you may have with our office, internships/jobs you learn about to promote on Handshake, career interests of your students to better assist them, new initiatives & accolades from your department to promote to our employers, and interesting internships your students are participating in to feature at our annual Internship Fair - among other helpful info.

GET POST-GRAD & INTERNSHIP INFO

We are glad to provide faculty with information we collect through our First Destination Survey on where your students are going by way of employers & graduate schools. Additionally, we are happy to share example internships from your department through surveys we send to assist with your website and Admissions work.
