ABOUT

Atelier of timeless foundations.

We pride ourselves on producing contemporary, handmade, natural fibre rugs to provide beautiful foundations for the home.

Our rugs designed here in Australia take inspiration from our natural landscapes, from rainforest to coast. Bringing the harmonious energy of the land into spaces of living.

These designs are then produced with centuries of knowledge in the hands of the skilled artisans of India. This relationship allows us to produce any of our beautiful designs in custom sizes and colours for our clients. Facilitating our many commercial collaborations with both large and boutique hotels, restaurants and places of work.

These designs form the foundation of Grounded and are now, after years of refinement, some of the highest quality Jute designs and productions in the world - we are well known for our "softness" of Jute underfoot and our high standards ofquality in the weaves and braids and finishing.

ALL NATURAL FIBRES Our dedicated looming studios in Uttar Pradesh, India, (north closest to Nepalborder) source the highestquality botanical and wool fibres on behalf of Grounded, with Aamid overseeing allquality of fibres and yarn purchased prior to even commencing production. Grounded's Jute is grown in fields of Assam within India, in fact50% of the worlds Jute is sourced from India.

Jute is a plant, a botanical fibre, it is from the Corchorus family of plants, you can see it grown within water or on dry land.

We deal in only botanical and wool fibres, encapsulating, Jute, TENCEL (compressed wood pulp), semi worsted NZ wool (highestquality wool) and cotton.

Our TENCEL fibre is a certified TENCEL from Lenzing in Austria and is 100% sustainble.

Lenzing procures sustainably forested wood for pulp production at its sites in Lenzing (Austria) and Paskov (Czech Republic) and our TENCEL is certifiably sourced from Lenzing.

CUSTOM PIECES Grounded prides itself on our very exclusive and exceptional custom clientele trackrecord to date, our clients and our productions speak for themselves; The Calile Hotel, Brisbane (Conde Nast Traveller top four funkiest hotels in the world) 220 Room and Suite rugs, along with design of their stunning Lobby piece (which weighed 145kilos!)

Custom Per Square Metre rates are dif erent to Grounded Showroom production square metre rates, given that these are ONE of handmade custom pieces for our clients.

Custom sizes commence at 260cm round across all fibres and 240x320cm rectangle across all fibres, and 80x700cm runners across all fibres.

CLEANING Number onequestion with regards to Jute rugs, "how do I clean it?"

Botanical fibres are exactly that and are highly absorbent.

Manage your clients expectations, most people are happy to have their jute pieces as "turnover" pieces given the price point.

The sooner you treat a spill thebest chance you have of saving it.

Any spills on Jute we suggest warm soapy detergent water, 1 part detergent, 10 parts water and to BLOT NOT RUB with a neutral coloured sponge then dry at a distance of30cm with hair dryer, not outside in direct sun as the Jute fibres will fade.

Vacuuming Jute pieces should, if hand braided, alwaysbe done in the direction of thebraid, not against it as this will cause agitation to thebraid and fibres and will cause premature ageing and sprouts.

We always recommend setting the vacuuming to the lowest level.

Do not forget to vacuum underneath the rugs! Educate your clients on "household dust" that will fall from within the home atmosphere, or that is walked into the house from outside, and this will, over time gather under the rug, keep the fibres fresh and oxygenated.

Like any hand made product when using jute, you will get sprouts, small tufts of jute fibres over time due to wear and tear, these can simply be trimmed at thebase of the braid or weave tokeep the piece looking neat and to assist in extending the life span of the piece within the home.

Rugs of a wool or TENCEL composition we recommend professional cleaning.

SHIPPING

RUG HANDLING SAFETY FIRST when lifting rugs! Your workplace OH&S is paramount and always use two people when lifting a rolled rug.

Bend yourknees!

Do not over exert, get more people to assist if necessary, these are NOT cushions.

WRAPPING & SHIPPING The first area of a rug to get damaged in International and Domestic freight shipping are the ends.

Ensure that rugs are wrapped with ecobubble wrap accordingly paying special attention to "buf ering" of the ends then covered by a final calico or your final wrapping material.

All rugs shipped out must container the Grounded Thank you Pack with their rug care card, all within the Grounded A5 pocket.

Grounded Rugs are all hand madeby our weavers in India and this is an ancient art of craftsmanship, one which can neverbe replicated by machine made rugs.

Take your clients on a Grounded journey....tell them a story, the story behind the hand made rug, connect them to the individualism of the piece and that one man, or woman's, hands made the piece that they are looking at...that weaver will enter their home, their art and hand work willbe honoured within their home.

Every rug has its own individual story and soul, it is up to you to express this to your client...these are not "just rugs" or carpets, or mats, they are exquisite hand made pieces that our weavers and team are exceptionally proud of and that support so many families.
