Seedy Saturday is a free public event with a focus on heritage seeds, organic gardening, native plants, and environmental concerns. Get stocked up for gardening in 2024 with seeds from commercial vendors, a seed exchange table, and seed libraries.

We will also have tables throughout the library with other interesting vendors and non-profit organizations. More detailed information will follow about a speaker series on gardening and environmental topics. Enjoy hot drinks and snacks provided by Station 1 Coffeehouse.

The Grimsby Public Library, the Lincoln Pelham Public Library and the West Lincoln Public Library are partnering to organize and host this event.

Needle Crafters Club Saturdays / 2 - 4 p.m. / Lounge Whether you knit, crochet, or do other needlework, drop in during this weekly gathering to work on and share your projects with others! Beginners to experts, all are welcome. Drop-in.

Sit to be Fit Mondays / 11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. / Studio *Please note: There will be no session on December 25 or January 1* Drop in for low impact exercises, at an introductory level, for seniors and people with mobility issues. Presented by a representative from the Alzheimer Society. Drop-in.

Tech Help with Tech-Savvy Teens Tuesday and Wednesdays / 4 - 5 p.m.

Centre Space *Please note: There will be no session on December 26 or 27* Teen volunteers are here to help you with your technology questions! Drop-in.

Paper Village Wreath Workshop Wednesday, December 6 6:30 - 8 p.m. / Centre Space Join Carla to make a beautiful paper village wreath to add to your holiday decor!

Green Screen Holiday Card Picture Workshop Thursday, December 7 / 6:30 - 8:10 p.m.

Children’s Area Create an innovative and/or humorous addition to your Christmas cards this year using the Library's green screen! Bring your own .jpg backgrounds on a usb drive or use photo backgrounds provided by the library. Dress up or bring your own props.

Book a 20 minute time slot for your free photo session. Registration required.

Digitization Workshop Friday, December 8 / 2 - 3 p.m. / Media Lab Learn how to preserve your family history by digitizing slides, negatives, VHS tapes, and 8mm films using the Library's media lab equipment.

Movie Night: Oppenheimer Thursday, December 14 / 6 - 9 p.m.

Lounge Join us for a movie night featuring Oppenheimer!

During World War II, Lt. Gen. Leslie Groves Jr. appoints physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer to work on the top-secret Manhattan Project.

Oppenheimer and a team of scientists spend years developing and designing the atomic bomb. Their work comes to fruition on July 16, 1945, as they witness the world's first nuclear explosion, forever changing the course of history.

Movie Night: The Grinch (2018) Thursday, December 21 / 7 - 8:20 p.m.

Lounge Join us for a movie night featuring The Grinch! The Grinch and his loyal dog, Max, live a solitary existence inside a cave on Mount Crumpet. His main source of aggravation comes during Christmas time when his neighbours in Whoville celebrate the holidays with a bang.

When the Whos decide to make Christmas bigger and brighter, the disgruntled Grinch realizes there is one way to gain peace and quiet. With help from Max, the green grump hatches a scheme to pose as Santa Claus, steal Christmas and silence the Whos' holiday cheer once and for all. Drop-in.

Lounge Join us for a movie night featuring Little Women!

In the years after the Civil War, Jo March lives in New York and makes her living as a writer, while her sister Amy studies painting in Paris. Amy has a chance encounter with Theodore, a childhood crush who proposed to Jo but was ultimately rejected. Their oldest sibling, Meg, is married to a schoolteacher, while shy sister Beth develops a devastating illness that brings the family back together.

Movie Afternoon: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Friday, January 5 / 2 - 4:20 p.m. / Lounge Join us for an afternoon movie featuring Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse! After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn's full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. However, when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders. He must soon redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most. Drop-in.

Our 2023 GPL Reading Challenge is coming to a close!

Submissions for this year’s prize draw will open Friday, December 15.

Therapy Tails Tuesday, December 12 / 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Children's Area / All ages Kids and teens can read stories to the gentle and cute Therapy Tails dogs. Woof! Drop-in.

Join us in the Fireplace Lounge for a Christmas Story Time with cider and cookies. Our green screen will be open for a seasonal picture of your little one.

Write to Santa!

Write your letter to Santa and mail it at the GPL. A table will be set up with all you need to write your letter to Santa. When you are finished, drop it in our mail box and GPL will make sure it is mailed to the North Pole. Deadline to write your letter is Wednesday, December 6.

We would like to start a book club for kids at the Library and we need your help!

If you are interested in signing up your little one call (905-945-5142) or email librarypromotions@grimsby.ca with your child’s name, age or grade and contact information to be added to our Kid's Book Club mailing list.

Our goal is to create a tailor-made book club for the young readers of our community!
