How is a
vinyl record
made and how does it make sound
step 1: a master recording is made
step two: a lacquer is placed on a record cutting machine; as it rotates, electric signals from the master recording travel to the cutting head (stylus or needle) which etches a groove in the lacquer
step three: the lacquer is coated in metal (silver or nickel) to make a metal master (metal record)
step four: use metal record to make a stamper (negative version of original recording)
step five:
stamper place hydraulic pre vinyl sandwic the two (steam the plastic as pushes an imp the recording
ed in a ess with the ched between m softens stamp pression of g)
step six: stiffened with cool water and trimmed into a circular disc shape, tested before put on the market
step seven:
the stylus and the tone arm from the record player travel across the vinyl in an arc, the vibrations travel along a metal strip and wires in the tonal arm to the cartridge, it receives vibrations, converts them into electrical signals in a magnetic field, carried along wires to the amplifier, enhances power of the signal which is converted back to sounds and come out the speakers
