he Sat Nav ‘receiver is activated when it picks up the signal from atellites (of which there are 24 orbitting the Earth, each emitting continual signal unique to each individual satellite)The satellites ’triangulate’ or to use the correct terminology ‘trilaterate’ the eceiver’s location, taking into account latitudal and longitudal co-ordinates. The signal from a 4th satellite increases pinpoint accuracy aided by it’s atomic clock.
The Satellite Navigation device consists of 2 distinct elements: the software and the hardware, it is essentially just a small computer! On activation, the receiver selects the relevant map from it’s software and the hardware utilises previously installed settings to communicate the information to the driver via a computer screen and audio instructions!!!

The unique signal emitted by the satellite is called ‘Pseudo Random Code.’ Each satellite has it’s own PSC which distinguishes it from every other satellite. The PSC is like a song. The receiver and the satellite start playing the song at the same time. The distance causes a delay........
